This 1970 Porsche 916-6 is one of the rarest of all Porsche Models.  Just over 3000 examples produced from 1970 – 1973.  These are excellent handling cars due to their mid-engine design.  It is an original California car, currently in Atlanta, Ga.

Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche.  Completely rebuilt 2.4E Motor with 6731 miles on the odometer and roughly 200 HP.  No expense was spared on the rebuild of this car, and all the receipts are available and included.  Includes the original 2.0 motor with correct numbers; engine is currently disassembled and stored.  The previous owner purchased it from a collector in California.  No known signs of any accident damage, and car has a clean title.
The car was placed in Porsches at Piedmont Park - the Peachstate PCA Concours event on October 6th 2013 and won its class - full “concours” scoring 223 pts. out of 235 pts. available.  Previously the car was judged and placed 2nd nationally at the Porsche Club of America Parade in Lake Placid, New York in 1994.  The car has only been driven 6731 since the restoration in 1991.  The mileage on the odometer reflects the miles since the restoration.  The car was disassembled during restoration and refinished in factory light ivory in 1990-1991 by a Porsche specialist, bringing it to a concours winning standard.  There are a few stone chips but the paint is still in great shape.  The car is in excellent condition and the interior was fitted with new factory type carpeting and Porsche floor mats during restoration.  The dash is crack free and in great condition.  Even the original steering wheel is crack free testifying to the cars superior condition.  The car has never been smoked in, and has the factory type leather 914-6 GT sport drivers seat, in addition to the original seat.  The car is equipped with euro lights/lenses, lowered with Koni shocks, Weltmeister sway bars, 15X6 Fuchs, fully rebuilt Weber carbs, sport exhaust with heat exchangers.  This car has always been covered and stored in the garage.  It has never been driven in the rain.  Included are the original owners manual in burgundy folder, jack, tool pouch and tools and documentation from 1970.  This is a rare opportunity of own an ORIGINAL 914-6 (with two engines) in excellent condition.

Supercar 'Holy Trinity' raced at the track, drag strip, and to 186 mph

Thu, Dec 3 2015

There was a time when we weren't sure if we'd ever get the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 Spyder on the track together. Now, we've have a multi-part series dissecting how each supercar approaches all kinds of go-fast tasks. Supercar Driver (SCD) looks at their performances around the track, on the drag strip, and on a runway. SCD didn't get any help from the automakers, it used three cars all owned by one British gentleman, Paul Bailey. The first video has British Touring Car Championship driver Mat Jackson running all three around Silverstone. The second video takes the coupes to Santa Pod Raceway to run the quarter-mile. The third video runs them out to Bruntingthorpe Airfield for a drag race to 300 kilometers per hour (186 mph). We found that latter video especially interesting because SCD shows a graph of how fast each car hit speed marks, and it's interesting to see where the winner made up all of its time and the where the third-place getter lost its time. Nota bene, the McLaren is using its fly-paper sticky Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires. You'll find the first video in the series above, the second two videos below. If you still haven't had enough, then check out the Hyper 5 three-part series by Alejandro Solomon filmed at California's Thermal Raceway, starting with the Holy Trinity and adding the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and Pagani Huayra. Chris Harris also did fantastic work around Portimao with the help of Marino Franchitti and Tiff Needell, with assistance from the factories. This content is hosted by a third party. Jay Leno takes an in-depth look at a 1964 Porsche 356C restomod

Tue, Oct 13 2015

Look nearly anywhere at Dr. Anand Rajani's 1964 Porsche 356C, even the engine, and you would never realize that it boasts around 50 percent more power than stock. There's no sign of any other mods to make the drive a bit more modern, either, but they're there. The car's invisible upgrades result in an amazing transformation of a car that started out pretty great to begin with, and Jay Leno can't seem to get enough of driving this beautiful, gray coupe with restorer John Willhoit. Before going for a drive, Leno takes a deep dive into the details of this Porsche's modifications, particularly of its engine. The result of all the work is a mill that looks visually stock but actually boasts a significant jump in displacement. Willhoit admits this is particular one is a fairly conservative build but output still reaches 145 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. If you're worried that Jay's CNBC show might have a detrimental effect on the quality of the Jay Leno's Garage YouTube video series, then here's your answer. For vintage Porsche fans interested in the nuts and bolts of making them even better, it's hard to imagine Leno making a better clip than this one.

Watch Carrera Cup driver Connor de Phillippi's first lap of the N"urburgring

Thu, 23 May 2013

American race driver Connor de Phillippi was recently added to the roster of Porsche Juniors, the arm of Porsche's factory racing program that develops new talent. The 20-year-old is contesting the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland series with FÖRCH Racing by Lukas Motorsport, and last weekend, he raced the series round at the Nürburgring. Starting 15th on the grid, de Phillippi would cross the line in ninth out of 32 finishers.
Courtesy of his in-car camera, you can watch his entire first lap in the video below - there's no music added, just engine whine during nine minutes of crests, turns, bumpy straights and that wicked Carousel. Enjoy.
