I am the second owner of this car. Almost everything on the car has been upgraded. The body was totally stripped down and any rust (as the owner of the body shop said "These things started to rust in the catalogue.") removed and new metal welded about 10 years ago. So there are some rock chips in the paint, I tried to take some pictures to show but they didn't show up. The fenders and bumpers are fiberglass. Engine is a two year old custom build from a specialist in California, with about 1000 miles on it. Started as a 2.0L but added the big bore kit and other upgrades to make a very nice motor. Runs very well with a great power curve. Suspension is almost all 911 with front and rear anti sway bars, bigger brakes including a larger master cylinder. Wheels are Porsche wheels (5 lug) and are the weak part of the car, have shown the worst wheel for an example. The wheels themselves are fine, they just need to be painted. Have included a picture of the weather stripping on the Targa top, as you can see there is a tear in it, so not perfect. Car is a joy to drive and likes to be used daily. I am selling as we have moved to a small town and I just don't get a chance to drive it anymore, so figure someone should enjoy it. Buyer to arrange shipping, anywhere. |

Next-generation Panamera will spawn variants, Sport Turismo in the running
Mon, Dec 1 2014A few years ago it took actual willpower not to consider what kinds of cool derivatives Porsche could make with the Panamera. Our fancies were helped by patent drawings of a Panamera convertible, rumors of a two-door 928 GT and internal Porsche sketches of such a car, and report after report after report that the current, second-generation Panamera would begin to expand the family. That hasn't happened, but according to a new report in Auto Express, the next Panamera will be the one to begin the bifurcation. Wolfgang Hatz, the brand's head of research and development, told the mag that, "We have prepared it for a lot of derivatives, personally I like very much the Sport Turismo." The Panamera Sport Turismo, remember, was the hybrid, concept wagon that rolled into the 2012 Paris Motor Show and made everyone ask, "Why didn't you build this design from the beginning?" It could have been Hatz's English, but after professing his ardor for the Sport Turismo, the executive said, "But there is a good chance for more derivatives." We're not sure if that means the Sport Turismo is all but approved, or if he was speaking of the third generation Panamera's new MSB platform in general. Even though Hatz mentioned a coupe and convertible, it sounds like that latter variant won't be happening, Hatz saying that the brand already has the Boxster and 911 Cabriolet. We're willing to forgive that omission – who's really looking for a four-door convertible, anyway? – and welcome the Sport Turismo first if Hatz will please please please get us a new 928.

Porsche looks back on very first 911 Turbo
Wed, 11 Jun 2014Porsche has really hit on a winning formula with its series of videos going inside its vault. So far, we've seen the V8 911 prototype, mid-engine test mule and aerodynamic prototype. The company is sticking with the 911 theme in the latest entry, but this time it's an actual production car - the very first 911 Turbo ever made.
Being the first Turbo would make it important enough, but the car was also a birthday present for Louise Piëch, daughter of Ferdinand Porsche and sister to Ferry Porsche, and she regularly used the car. The family didn't just hand her a random car off the assembly line, either. She got to make it her own with some interesting modifications. She supposedly even painted landscapes from inside the car.
You have to wonder what Piëch thought of her present. The early Turbos had a reputation for being a bit of a handful to drive. The boost tended to bring the power all at once, which wasn't always welcome when cornering. She deserves some honor just for driving the car on the curvy, alpine roads. Scroll down to learn about this important Porsche, and we can't wait to see what car the brand showcases next.
