RARE, TRUE 3 GAUGE PAINTED DASH ==JULY 1965== BUILT USA SPEC PORSCHE 912

This is not a restored car it is a carefully preserved car with floor and suspension pans being replaced, body touch ups as needed.  My body shop thought the paint was mostly original and shows its age, but quite presentable.  I took it to them to repair the decklid which was damaged in a parking lot.

This car was featured on the cover of the 912 Fall 2012 edition of the "912 Registry Magazine", of which I am a member.  Look at the attached document showing the transmission numbers.  This car has the 91st four speed transmission ever built for the 912 still working in the car.

A very rare and important historical Porsche which will be featured July 29th at the American Collectors Insurance website as their cool ride of the week. This car in 1965 was not available in the USA as Porsche sent their remaining 356 inventory cars here in mid 1965.  It was to be available only after dealers sold the remaining 356 inventory.

In July 1965 Porsche Panorama announced "The long awaited--and long rumored--Porsche 912 will be available in the United States this fall.  The 912 will be produced only as a Coupe in 2 versions: 912/4 with a 4 speed transmission:  and the 912/5 with a 5 speed box.  The body is the same as that of the 911:  You can differentiate by the trim at the rear.  Interior detailing is also different from the 911:  for example, 356 instrumentation is used rather than the more complete gauges and dials on the 911"

Just how rare is a 1965 USA specification Porsche??????????
Look into an old official NADA price guide from 1966.  It will say there are no 1965 911s or 912s, but it does say that the 1966 Porsche 912 started in September of 1965 as the earliest build date.  Under the listing for 1965 Porsche it only lists the 356 cars.

Only 4 of these early USA specification 912's are known to survive.  All the other early 1965 912's wore euro gauges and euro engines with euro heaters.  The euro spec motors all begin with 830xxx, while the USA spec motors start with 740xxx
The Porsche 912 is a very, very rare Porsche indeed.  One of these rare survivors is car #451233 and an identical twin to this car #451234, both built July 20, 1965, which resides in the Los Angeles area.

Judging by the number of listings of cars for sale on Ebay, the 912 seems to be even rarer than the Porsche 356.  There are currently 30 of these 356 cars for sale while the 912 (1965-69) has only 13 offerings.

The 1965 Porsche 912 represents the 901 body style in its simplest and earliest form, and perhaps its best form when you consider the car was powered by a 1965 356-SC motor and transmission, but also had all the early 911 suspension upgrades.  Being 200 pounds lighter that the 911 the early 912 handled better being a much more balanced car on the corners.  Porsche people are finally appreciating how special the short wheel base 912 really always is.

The very same early bodied 1965 Porsche 911 cars are selling for 150 grand or more.  There is a very bright future for appreciation here !

I absolutely love this car, and I swore I would never sell this 912 for any price.  However I have found the very first Porsche I ever owned.  I had to sell my old 356 to buy a mobile home when I got married and started a family 40 years ago.  Now I have a chance to buy my 1961 356-B back again.  I never thought this would happen, but this is a very rare chance for me to buy my old car back, and I never thought in my wildest dreams this would be possible.  But it did and here is your chance, right here, and right now to own a piece of Porsche history.

So do your research, as I have done and try to find an earler 1965 Porsche 912 with its original motor, transmission, and chassis.......................really go looking!!!!!!!!!!!
Even try to find a mostly original unupgraded 1965 912 that was built earlier than July 20, 1965............if you find one see if you can buy it...................really go looking!!!!!!!!!!!
Then try to find one with a history with receipt going back 33 years to all 3 the previous owners!!!!!!!!!  I even have the original owners yearbook from college with his picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have the COA, and Kardex from Porsche, the car was shipped directly to Porsche of North America in Teaneck, NJ on both Kardex and COA
The car runs and drives, and was just inspected in Vermont until August 2014---Everything Works, I replaced the radio with one you can plug an IPOD into.  The original Blaupunkt was not working but will go with the car.
I will include 2 custom German license plates that say "1st US 912".
I also include the COA from 1992, a copy of the original Kardex from Porsche, July 1965 Panorama Magazine, copies of Porsche documents showing transmission numbers, color charts, previous owner documents and invoices. A front bra, and rare pair of yellow Bosch glass headlight covers are very rare indeed.

Vermont does not issue titles for cars older that 15 years.  I will provide a bill of sale and sign over my Vermont Registration Certificate.  This is all you will need to register the car in your state.  Please check with your local DMV office!

Porsche working on turbo V12 for Putin limo project?

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

Porsche is best known for building very well-regarded sports cars and better-selling utility vehicles. Come to the company with a big enough bag of cash, though, and the Porsche Engineering division can create just about anything. The group's past projects include working with Harley-Davidson, Mercedes-Benz and corporate cousin Audi, but if rumors prove true, then its latest partner might be the last one you'd expect.
Russian website Wroom reports that Porsche Engineering is building the engine for the Project Cortege government limousine project for Russian president Vladimir Putin. The mill is supposedly a turbocharged V12 displacing between 6.0- and 6.6-liters and making around 800 horsepower. When complete, it will reportedly be built by ZMZ with Russian-sourced parts.
The limo is expected to debut in 2017, according to Wroom, but it's just the beginning of Putin's grandiose plans, which also goes by the name of the Motorcade Project. The same platform is also meant to underpin several vehicles for use by the government, including an SUV, a small bus and a sedan. All of them would reportedly have a longitudinally mounted engine and all-wheel drive.

Here are this year's top 5 automaker April Fools’ jokes

Mon, Apr 2 2018

April 1 is the wonderful day when PR departments really push themselves to top the zany jokes they came up with the previous year. And it's not just fast-food chains competing with each other, or breweries announcing they have released stuff like a fermented herring flavored beer: carmakers' media teams rarely miss out on the opportunity to play a little joke on their audience. Here are a few of our favorites from this year:1) Porsche Porsche announced that it's launching a Mission E tractor, styled to resemble its 1950s tractor models. "With a power output in excess of 700hp, the Mission E Tractor will be the fastest accelerating agricultural vehicle in the world, enabling farmers to harvest crops in record time with the added environmental benefits of zero emissions at source and significantly reduced operating noise."2) Lexus Lexus actually jumped the gun, telling us on March 28 that it's combining cars and drivers using DNA matching. The kicker was that with DNA-matched cars, owners would be able to start their Lexuses by licking the steering wheel.3) McLaren Automotive McLaren said it's boosting efficiency by quite eccentric measures, such as measuring the technology center's lake and floor tiles daily, and by synchronizing the staff's tea breaks.4) BMW Motorrad BMW's motorcycle arm is solving parts availability issues in remote locations by offering a 3D printer mounted permanently on the bike's rack: If you need to replace a broken-off gear lever, you can just print one. "The new system will mean that even very rarely required parts not generally stocked by BMW Motorrad sales partners can be supplied on a just-in-time basis." BMW even went to the lengths of announcing that the "BMW Motorrad iPart 3D Mobile Printer" was tested on the Antarctic, by erecting a tent whose poles were produced onsite.5) Honda Last but not least, Honda UK purportedly cut the roof off a new CR-V, calling it the CR-V Roadster. Tellingly, no convertible top was even offered for the concept, "making it a no-top rather than a drop-top. This innovative design makes it a vehicle purely for sunnier climates and therefore completely useless for the two-day British summer which traditionally occurs in May."Related Video: Featured Gallery Top 5 April Fools 2018 Image Credit: Porsche Green Humor Weird Car News BMW Honda Lexus McLaren Porsche bmw motorrad mclaren automotive

Here's how to follow this weekend's 24 Hours of Le Mans

Thu, Jun 11 2015

In the pantheon of motorsports, the 24 Hours of Le Mans stands as one of the great endurance challenges to man and machine. This year's event in France already looks to be one for the ages with Porsche setting record-breaking times in practice and the competition debut of Nissan's front-engine, hybrid racer. Thankfully, there's a massive list of ways to follow this automotive attraction. Reilly Brennan, the Executive Director of the Revs Automotive Research Program at Stanford University, and a friend of Autoblog, has once again assembled a helpful couch-kit to organize many of the options. Unfortunately, the old-school way of just turning on the television might be the most frustrating way to watch Le Mans this year. Fox Sports 1 and 2 are carrying about half the race, but the coverage bounces between them seemingly at random. The broadcast begins on Fox Sports 2 at 8:30 AM Eastern ahead of the 9:00 AM start and lasts there until 12:00 PM. Things don't pick up again until 7:00 PM Eastern on Fox Sports 1 for an hour, and the channels swap back and forth more from there. The Fox Sports Go streaming app offers more, but even it stops showing the race a few times. Thankfully, streaming Le Mans is easy. If you can't dedicate 24-hours on the couch, Radio Le Mans lets you listen to audio commentary anywhere with some of the best announcers in the biz. The Automobile Club de l'Ouest, the governing body for the race, also offers an official video stream in an app for $9.99. For a really low-tech solution, the official Twitter is another choice. Brennan is keeping his list updated with coverage changes. You can also check out and download the spotter's guide (from Nissan) in the gallery above. Enjoy this year's race. If you miss anything, don't worry; expect a full report from Autoblog. In fact, editor-in-chief Mike Austin is attending Le Mans this year, so follow him on Twitter for on-the-fly impressions.
