I have a very rare 1968 912 Porsche Targa, one of only a few made in 1968... The 912 registry has only 66 of them.... THE LAST OWNER HAD IT FOR 23 YEARS !!!! The car is in HARD TO FIND Polo Red paint (#6802) this was the cars factory color... This is a number matching car the engine #1281730 and transmission #1281554 (902/02)....from the factory.. I have the Porsche letter of authenticity to back this up.. This document will come with the car. The cars paint is 5 out of 10 due to chips, scratches and a key job on the drivers side and hood, from a porsche lover....THE CAR COMES WITH FACTORY BOOKS.. Has OME FUCHS WHEELS stamped 72-73... The car does not have the right bumper pads or bottom rocker moldings... The front pop riveted vin tag is gone when you open the hood of the car... This was done when the car was repainted some time ago I was told, I found a new ome unstamped one that I will send with the car....The rest of the vin stamps on the car match door frame and main body stamp vin# 12870377 ......The car has a little rust in the bottom of the rear corner of the floor pan where it seams, that can be fixed easy..This will be shown in the pictures.... The car runs and drives very good, no smoke, the clutch is good, and has no big oil leaks. selling miles unknown. The only bad mechanical item is it does grind from 2nd into 1st gear... all the other gears are good.. The interior is very nice, one small crack in the dash, and drivers seat seam is coming undone on seat cushion, and one sun visor is gone.... This is a fun, good looking driver that could be made into what ever you want...I tried to honestly describe the car's condition..... Please come drive the car anytime.. PLEASE DONT ASK FOR A BUY IT NOW PRICE I WILL NOT RESPOND.... You must pay $1000 dollar deposit within 24 hours though Paypal the remaining balance can be paid in cash or a bank wire transfer... IF YOU HAVE A LOW RATING PLEASE TO TALK ME BEFORE BIDDING OR I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID.... You must find your own shipper, I will help load any time of the day.... THANKS CHRIS

KBB 2013 Brand Image Awards has some obvious and oddball winners
Sat, 30 Mar 2013The sixth edition of the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards have crowned a wide range of winners - in a couple of cases the recipient of the laurels might say more about KBB users than they do about the actual winner. Compiled from the responses of more than 12,000 shoppers on KBB.com over the past year, there are 13 categories broken into non-luxury, luxury and truck segments "representing the combined wisdom of the American car-buying public."
The award categories have been revamped this year, with some dropping off, some new ones appearing and at least one other given a new term. What isn't surprising is that Honda won Most Trusted Brand for the second year running, Best Value Brand for the third year in a row and took Best Overall Brand, which wasn't on last year's list of awards.
On our own shores, in the non-luxury categories Chrysler got Most Refined Brand and Buick took Best Value Luxury Brand. Neither one of those marques won anything in last year's Brand Image Awards, while Cadillac, which won Best Interior Design Brand and Best Comfort Brand last year - those awards disappeared this year - went home without a single accolade.
Porsche finally moving ahead with flat four engine
Sun, 23 Mar 2014When Porsche released the first Boxster in 1996 and the first Cayman in 2005, the idea was to create an entry-level model for the German automaker's sports car range. The latest iterations of both closely related models, however, have begun to encroach dangerously on the 911's territory, particularly in their newest GTS specifications. That could be about to change, however, with the introduction of a four-cylinder engine for the compact mid-engined coupe and roadster.
According to Automotive News, Porsche is finally preparing to launch a new boxer four engine in the Boxster and Cayman, following years of speculation. The engine would be based on the same architecture as the company's famous flat six, but with two fewer cylinders to cut weight. Don't expect it to cut much in the way of performance, however: Porsche chief Matthias Muller indicates that the new engine could produce as much as 395 horsepower - significantly more than even the 340hp flat six in the Cayman GTS, suggesting that the engine could even find its way into the 911 as well.
It's no more clear which markets would get the four-cylinder engine, either. But wherever it is offered and in whichever form, it wouldn't be the first time we'd see a Porsche with a four-pot engine. Not by a long shot. Both the classic 912 and 356 were powered by boxer fours, as was the 914 - not to mention the 718 pictured above and the iconic 550 Spyder. The front-engined 924, 944 and 968 packed inline-four engines, but the last of those were discontinued in the 1990s. The prospect of a four-cylinder Boxster/Cayman has been rumored for many years now, most recently joined by the possibility of a four-pot Macan as well.
Porsche 911 R, GT3 variant with manual trans, spotted
Thu, Oct 29 2015The Porsche 911 GT3 is still a strong enthusiast choice in the 911 range, and the GT3 RS has gone more hardcore. But both versions are PDK-only. The upcoming Porsche 911 R, spied undergoing testing in Germany, is tipped to adopt the naturally aspirated engine from the aforementioned GT3, producing somewhere in the neighborhood of 475-500 horsepower. Only instead of an automated dual-clutch transmission, it'll feature a proper manual. Other changes are expected in the form of skinnier tires to provide less grip but a more approachable limit of adhesion. It may or may not feature a small ducktail spoiler at the back. We wouldn't be surprised to see it ditch the four-wheel steering system, either. Weissach may also give it some retro cues as well, but the question all those purists will be asking is how many Porsche will make. The last 911 R yielded only 22 examples way back in 1967. This time they'll have to make far more, but we wouldn't expect this particular version to be exactly what you might call "ubiquitous." No matter how rare, it'll definitely be the purist's choice.
