1969 Porsche 912 Targa Very rare 1969 912 Targa, only 800 produced. Rising in value over time. Sure to begin to explode in value since the
50th birthday of the 911. See
this Hagerty link for best information (including average values for the 912s): http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/HVT/VehicleSearch/Report?vc=1329223 Meticulously maintained since new. All documentation since new, including owner’s
manual, maintenance manual, dealer brochure, and a 2-inch stack of service/parts
receipts. Documented Arizona and California car. Same owner for approximately 35 years (a
Boeing aircraft engineer). Excellent paint (tangerine/”blood orange”…only the best
color ever offered on a 912!). Interior
in excellent condition, much of it new (existing seats are Porsche circa early
70’s, original Recaros included in sale, see below). Very solid undercarriage (rust proofed,
sealed in California just before I purchased it). Engine compartment detailed and clean. Starts, runs, and shifts (5-speed)
wonderfully. Handles like a Porsche. Targa top in excellent condition (a $4000
expense to buy a reconditioned top!). All
new rubber (seals) and near-new tires. Excellent
body/panel gaps, doors close with the trademark Porsche ping. No rust.
Glass in very good condition (exception to note is some fine scratching
in passenger window which I can’t get to show in pictures). Recently serviced by local/regional Porsche
expert (who had been servicing, racing, showing classic Porsches for decades). Extra parts include: Original 1969 911/912 Recaro seats with
new seat foam (you’d need to purchase new covers). Rear window parcel shelf with built-in
speaker housing. Various 912 books and
magazines including a 912 handbook and service manual. Other misc. parts (door arm rest, horn
covers, etc.). See pictures for details.
Truly a rare 912 that turns heads and provokes waves and thumb-ups
wherever you go (from Porsche and non-Porsche owners alike)! There are too many details to list so please
ask any/all questions and I will do my best to respond in a timely manner. Likewise, if you need more/different
pictures, I’d be glad to provide those too (I have many more than the 12 eBay
allows). Serious buyers only please.
A $1000 deposit by PayPal required within 24 hours of auction end. I apologize for having to do this but if you’re
a serious buyer, this won’t be a problem for you. Remaining balance due within 5 days of
auction end by bank wire/transfer. In-person
inspections welcomed by you or hired third-party. I can assist you in arranging transportation/shipping. I have bought and sold several cars and
motorcycles over the years and am very familiar with the process. No warranty express or implied. My reserve is reasonable for this beautiful 912 but please
don’t ask me what it is. If you are serious
about the 912s (and/or 911s), you probably know where the market is. And while I don’t have a buy-it-now price, feel
free to shoot me an offer. Anything
reasonable will be seriously considered!
For all you folks in the Midwest or east coast, here’s your opportunity
to own your dream car without having to pay to have it shipped all the way from
California (where 99% of these seem to reside).
The 912 is listed locally as well as, on other sites so I
reserve the right to cancel the auction early. Thanks for looking and good luck! |

Editors' Picks June 2024: Some German SUVs and an excellent sports car
Fri, Jul 5 2024This month sees some recently-refreshed luxury SUVs join the list of Editors' Picks. Both the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne are fresh for 2024, and both are extremely tempting luxury performance SUVs for the well-off buyer. The vast array of powertrains available for both of them ensure there's a version for all comers, and any enthusiast would adore the extra-high-performance versions of both. Of course, enthusiasts will enjoy the last car on this month's list the most with the Lotus Emira. It's simply spectacular to drive, and we can't recommend it enough to the hardcore driver. In case you missed previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get an EditorsÂ’ Pick designation. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. You'll find the entire list of Editors' Picks at this link here, which we keep updated as cars are either added or dropped from the list. The vehicles youÂ’ll find below consist of every car we rated in June that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2024 BMW X5 2024 BMW X5 M Competition View 41 Photos Quick take: The X5 is most desirable in its PHEV and M60i V8 trims, but the whole lineup is extremely competent and brings together excellent performance, excess luxury and cutting-edge tech for its segment. Score: 7.5 What it competes with: Mercedes-Benz GLE, Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover Sport, Maserati Levante, Genesis GV80, Audi Q8 Pros: Superb to drive with knockout powertrains; excellent utility and creative features; styling is sporty and attractive but not over the top Cons: Infotainment system can be a pain; M Competition model is a little over the top; gets pricey quick with options From the editors: Senior Editor, Electric John Beltz Snyder — "I really like the dual-opening liftgate/tailgate combo. The liftgate portion up top opens quickly, allowing you to throw something inside or grab something out of the back. Flipping down the lower tailgate part gives you a nice place to sit and change shoes. Another benefit is that you can open the liftgate without unsecured items immediately falling out. And with the way the X5 M Competition encourages you to drive it hard, you will end up shifting loose cargo around at some point." Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "I'd snag the X5 M60i out of all the various X5 variants.
Porsche becomes first company to rent out Vatican's Sistine Chapel
Fri, 17 Oct 2014We wouldn't go so far as to say God is a Porsche fan, but those in charge of one of the holiest Christian spots on our little blue marble are welcoming the German automaker into one of the religion's most revered and beautiful settings - the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. In so doing, Porsche will reportedly become the first company to rent out the holy hall for a corporate function.
Now, it's not like Pope Francis has signed off on Porsche doing do donuts in a 911 underneath Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam. Instead, the Vatican has rented out the home of the Papal Conclave to the Porsche Travel Club, which will host a classical music concert. The Travel Club organizes events and tours across Europe for Porsche enthusiasts, with the Vatican concert just one part of a tour of Rome.
According to Automotive News Europe, Porsche will sell 40 tickets - at 5,000 euros each ($6,379) - to the event, while the Vatican has confirmed that the Pope will not be in attendance.
249 reasons you want to go to Goodwood Revival
Sat, Sep 16 2023At its most basic, Goodwood Revival is a long weekend worth of car races featuring cars made before 1970. There are lots of those, though, including some pretty great ones all over the world. But nothing is like Goodwood Revival because it's so much more than "just" vintage car racing. First, you have to look the part. Attendees are strongly encouraged to dress in period clothing from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, with a strict dress code enforced should you want to enter the paddock. The goal is to create a more authentic atmosphere to match the cars and the meticulously restored and recreated paddocks, grandstands and other facilities of the reborn Goodwood circuit. Now, the dress code was relaxed this year since the Saturday was literally the hottest Sept. 9 on record in that part of England, and the organizers didn't want people dropping dead because they needed to wear an ascot. Some people definitely took the "relaxed" bit too far, but there was still plenty of atmosphere maintained. It really does make a big difference, as those "relaxed" individuals were often akin to seeing a Starbucks cup in a scene from "Game of Thrones." You can see what I came up with below along with former Autoblog editor Reese Counts and various other Goodwood attendees. Second, there's the parking lot. But I'll let this entire separate post detail that. Third, there's the enormous carnival-like area featuring vintage-looking rides and various boutiques. Both of those are on the outside portion of the track, and honestly, you could easily just spend your entire day in the parking lot and carnival/shopping area without even crossing over into the circuit area. There you'll find more shops, food and drink opportunities, plus obviously, race car paddocks and the track itself. Fourth, there are airplanes! I heard there are fewer than in the past, but they're there and they're cool. The Goodwood circuit started out life as the perimeter road around the World War II airfield RAF Westhampnett. Fifth, with all of the above, Goodwood Revival really is fun for the whole family. It isn't just a bunch of old guys sitting around in lawn chairs. There are plenty of women and adorably dressed children, including babies in vintage prams. It's also not an event that's exclusively for the uber rich, even if they are certainly in full force given who has the sort of money needed to go vintage racing.
