1966 Porsche 912 with 911 RS Carrera Lightweight Package
Matching numbers car 457449 engine 747701 5 speed
NO RESERVE At end of auction someone will own a very nice collectable 912 Porsche.
Solid body numbers matching car with documented low miles and fresh engine.
I purchased this car in 1993 and registered it and had it on the road for 3 years. Then I put the car in storage with my collection. I have over 13 classic car and breaking up my collection because of retirement. I put little miles on this car because I have 6 registered and can't drive them all.
This car was completely restored in 1990 and the owner put a lot of money into it. This is a clear titled car with odometer disclosure statement (State of Mass.)
PLEASE NO BIDDERS WITH A 0 FEEDBACK  WILL BE ACCEPTED (sorry)
I will describe this car the best I can. Need more info, please email me.
INTERIOR: All new seat upholstery with new carpets, door panels, trim, seat belts. Minor glue needed in small spot back window head liner, and dashboard pad. Has 911 badges on dash.
EXTERIOR: Solid body with German bolt on 911 RS lightweight package including: front bumper, rear bumper, lights, decals, 911 badge, duck tail and perfect grille. Original horn grilles with minor pitting all lights: directional and brake lights are excellent original condition. All glass is perfect along with rare rear window deicer strips. All stainless, alum and chrome is great. Cookie cutter wheels with original badges. Paint needs was and buff and it will really jump out. This car has not seen light or weather since 1996. Has some minor issues with small chips on front bumper and wheel well chips along with paint lift spots on driver door and needs a small fender patch on near door. I have the paint code for matching after small repairs are made. I believe that the paint is good enough to paint over patch and look great to match rest of car. Trunk area is also very solid and rust free with battery box area perfect. Also has trunk rug with car. New door strikers for solid sound and nice body lines. Floors were patched when the resto was done. I would also put a small patch near one front torque bar to make perfect. Only rust on car is where shown in pics and described by me the best i can.
DRIVE TRAIN: Original engine was freshened up right when I bought the car. I do this with all my cars. I wanted to have a perfect motor and had a Porsche do the engine. Work done: piston and barrels rubbed and new rings installed, valve seals, grind valves and seats, replace rod bearings, and tube seals. Carbs have been rejetted, K&N filters, tuned exhaust (great sound) Slick Shift kit short throw conversion for clean short crisp shifting. Very strong transmission 5 speed. Struts were replace. Brakes need to checked out for one appears to be dragging, rebuild kit recommended for one or two to make safe and strong. Been sitting for a long time so there is always minor things to do and check. For this car to run and to run right, clean carb bowls and put fresh gas in tank then turn key and have a ball. Real head turner.
With the minor repairs to do now or later, enjoy the car for the summer and fall and do what you think is needed for a cosmetic and mechanical repair winter project. When your done you will have a $35,000 plus car that is taking off in value.
Email me for any questions,  Greg
No Warranty sold as is-where is. Deposit of $500.00 to pay pal (non refundable) at end of auction and balance due 7 to 9 days or less in cash or bank cashier check only.

NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022

Thu, Mar 17 2016

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.

Watch Evo pick its 2015 Car of the Year in this epic video

Mon, Dec 7 2015

With just a few days left in 2015, it's the perfect time to check out Evo's annual Car of the Year test to determine the greatest performance vehicle of the last 12 months. The writers' picks for the 11 finalists spanned a breadth of engaging models and included: Peugeot 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport, Lamborghini Aventador SV, Seat Leon Cupra Sub8, McLaren 675LT, Porsche 991 GT3 RS, Porsche Cayman GT4, Honda Civic Type R, Ferrari 488 GTB, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Lotus Evora 400, and Mercedes-AMG GT S. For the venue to test the mettle of these performance machines, Evo stuck close to home this year and visited the twisting roads at the beautiful north coast of Scotland. Racing brothers Marino and Dario Franchitti also came along for the ride to provide two more voices in the competitive challenge to determine a winner. Evo's video explains why each model deserves to be among such rarified company but doesn't gloss over their faults either. There can be only one winner, though. We don't want to spoil it, so check out the clip for magnificent views of these performance machines through the Scottish countryside.

This is how the new turbo Porsche 911 Carrera sounds

Sun, Sep 13 2015

We have our first audio sample of the turbocharged flat-six engine in the standard Porsche 911 Carrera. By way of reminder, the boosted 3.0-liter engines will put out 370 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque in entry-level guise, 420 ponies and 368 lb-ft in the S models. To our ears, it sounds good. Yes, it's a commercial, true, we don't know what audio trickery the agency whipped up during post-production. But the sound in the commercial is good. Besides, Porsche knows what it's doing. Every time the brand breaks one of the purist's laws, the 911 accelerates through the wailing and gnashing of teeth to sell better than ever. Heck, the company's own engineers tried to beat the 911 with the introduction of the arguably much better 928, and we see how that turned out. So no matter what we think of the commercial, we have a feeling the sound of the turbocharged standard 911 will remain the same mythical siren to enthusiast ears around the world. On top of that, the new coupe and convertible are quicker, faster, more powerful, and still come with a seven-speed manual transmission if you choose. Porsche might taketh away, but to make up for it they giveth and giveth and giveth. Check out the noises in the video above, and some more of the advanced features on the new 911 in the video below.
