As an owner of 911's and a PCA member, for 35 years, I am selling the car I planned to keep forever. I waited for 2 years and bought one of the earliest 996 911 turbo's. Some say this is the best as Porsche toleranced the engine for low drag losses. The car was purchased from Porsche of Orlando and has been maturely driven. Check the condition of the original front tires and brake disks on the photos. All the original promotional items, books, keys, sticker, and receipts are included. This is great opportunity to acquire a superb unadulterated example of the earliest version of this landmark car at the lowest point in its depreciation.

Condition
The car has always been garaged in an air conditioned environment and kept in Florida, covered from UV. There has been no accidents, damage or repair work. The rims are original with no scrapes or curb rash. The paint work is like new. There may be one or two very very small stone chips on close examination, but there are no scratches or dents.
There is a patch of leather in the left side dash top near the windshield that shows signs of adhesion failure. I have tried to highlight it in the photos.
The spare tire and kit has never been used. The rear seats may have been used twice. I have never had a puncture or breakdown. Never smoked in. Leather treated with 2 stage Leatherique.

Service and replacement items.
Porsche of Orlando has done the servicing since new. At 13,939 miles, they replaced the clutch booster accumulator and did a second brake flush.
There was a leak from one of the wing raising hydraulic pistons and I replaced the entire hydraulics including pump just recently at ~15,000 miles.
A couple of spots on the interior plastic were sticky and I cleaned them with oven cleaner to remove the stickiness. This is a common issue on European cars like Ferrari's etc.
This car has been super reliable and nothing else has failed.
At approximately 14,500 miles, the rear tires were replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 N3.

Extras Included
I bought a black optional bra to protect the front end and used it twice.
At 10,161 miles a Speed Technologies stainless exhaust was installed by the Dealer as I thought the exhaust note was a little too quiet for such a fast car! The original system is available for the buyer and can easily be refitted to maintain complete stock configuration. No tuning or ECM modifications have been done.
The car comes fully equipped as standard with PSM, e-gas. ABD, Bi-Xenon vertically steerable headlights, electronic sliding roof with tilt (used twice!), rear wiper, headlight washers, memory seats, 10 speakers.

VW CEO lost his job over buggy software that delayed new models

Mon, Jul 25 2022

It says a lot about the state of the auto industry and where it's going that software problems have cost the CEO of a carmaker his job. Volkswagen ousted Herbert Diess as chief executive officer after severe software-development delays set back the scheduled launch of new Porsches, Audis and Bentleys. This was untenable considering buggy software postponed the debut of VW’s initial rollout of ID models, and customers are still having to drop off their cars at the dealer for updates the company has struggled to make over the air. Sure, Diess also didnÂ’t do enough to make allies and became increasingly isolated due to his hard-nosed leadership style. In his push to transform the company into an electric-vehicle leader, he repeatedly clashed with labor leaders by warning VW was losing out to Tesla and needed to cut thousands of jobs. But failures at the carmakerÂ’s software unit Cariad ultimately eroded DiessÂ’s support from the powerful Porsche and Piech family that calls the shots. Back in December, VW overhauled its management board, stripping Diess of some responsibilities while tasking him to turn around Cariad. While thereÂ’s been a lot of re-arranging since then, Diess didnÂ’t manage to make the issues go away. Discord at Cariad has pushed back the rollout of important new models including the electric Porsche Macan, a high-volume sport utility vehicle for the division thatÂ’s planning an initial public offering in the fourth quarter. AudiÂ’s new line of Artemis EVs has been delayed by around two years to 2027. And VWÂ’s ultra-luxury brand Bentley may not be able to go all-electric by the end of this decade as planned because of the software issues, Automobilwoche reported earlier this month. “Taking over the ship at Cariad seems to have been DiessÂ’s downfall,” said Matthias Schmidt, an independent auto analyst based in Berlin. VWÂ’s solutions to challenges tend to reflect its status as an industrial behemoth: itÂ’s able to throw lots of money and people at its problems. But modernizing the company for the digital age is going to take bringing in talent and building skillsets outside its traditional zones of expertise. Drivers increasingly demand intuitive user interfaces and services that could create new revenue streams, if done correctly. “Software is the key to the future,” TeslaÂ’s Elon Musk tweeted when one of his followers asked about VW switching CEOs. Diess certainly didnÂ’t lack ambition.

Ex-F1 driver Mark Webber has tough life, shakes down Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Fri, Apr 24 2015

It's good work if you can get it, and Mark Webber has got it. The works driver for the Porsche World Endurance Championship Team was apparently asked to moonlight in a video shoot for the company's new 911 GT3 RS at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, and what do you know, he complied. They don't appear to be going too quickly, and a racing driver asked to rein in what will be one of the most blistering cars we'll see this year must be very serious work, because Webber doesn't appear to be smiling at all. We'll guess there's a big smile on the inside, though, and some tales to tell to his Porsche teammates at the next WEC race. Maybe the next time we see the 911 GT3 RS at the 'Ring, it will be doing the timed lap we're all waiting for. Related Video:

Watch the Porsche 911 R rip through the mountains

Thu, Mar 3 2016

A few days ago, the top-tier driver's Porsches, the 911 GT3 and GT3 RS, were the only game in town. Both are exclusively equipped with the technically excellent PDK, a dual-clutch gearbox virtually without equal. Of course, lots of folks, including Porsche die-hards, wanted to do it themselves, even if human shifts came at the expense of milliseconds of shift time. Porsche listened. You read all about the new 911 R two days ago when it was announced (if not, watch the video and then dive into the particulars at that link). It's an unabashed gift to that vocal minority. The folks that wanted a manual GT3 got one, and it's better than that. It's a throwback to the original 911 R, stripped of weight and unsightly aero bits like the massive rear wing of the GT3. There's even houndstooth-patterned cloth on the sport seats. It's a brilliant homage, without being overly retro. But how does it sound, and look in motion? See for yourself. We humbly suggest minding where the drool lands. Related Video: Porsche Coupe Performance Videos 911 porsche 911 r 911 r
