In storage for a year. May need service, brakes, tires, etc... Has been in a collision (2mph), with minor front end damage (approx 10,000$), and has been repaired to Porsche specs (front light had a scratch, was 3000, front repaint, intercooler and fascia (7000). Divorce forces sale by judges order, otherwise would not be selling it. VALENTINE K1 radar, installed by Porsche with remote dash gauges. Pioneer DVD radio and navi works, but sound does not come on. Less than Usual wear and tear for year and mileage. Car is pampered and garage kept. No winter or bad weather driving. I tested the car this weekend and she starts right up (battery is AAA and 1 year old). The car drives straight and smooth. Acceleration is fierce as always. Engine sounds great. No leaks, smoke, or smell. Seems solid. Tires seem pretty new. All gauges are in normal range, no warning lights are on. |

Recharge Wrap-up: 62-mph electric scooter, Porsche eyes Formula E battery deal
Wed, Sep 21 2016Porsche is reportedly looking to supply Formula E with battery technology. As it works on its Mission E electric car, the automaker is also seeking to show off its new batteries, which it says will have 800-volt charging capability, supplying many miles of range in just a few minutes. If the FIA were to accept Porsche's application to be the sole battery supplier for Formula E from 2018 onward, this would go a long way toward showcasing its Mission E tech without actually fielding a team. Motorsport reports that independent consultants hired by FIA to choose a battery supplier are reviewing the application. An announcement is expected soon. Read more from Motorsport, or at Electrek. The Moneghette electric scooter offers 62 miles of range at speeds of up to 62 mph. Designer Eduard Bockaj built the zippy e-scooter for himself, and is building more to order, but only for residents of Monaco. With a 10-kW motor and a battery of unspecified capacity, the Moneghette weighs 99 pounds and can accommodate two riders. Check it out in the video above, and read more at Technologic Vehicles. Faraday Future has reportedly signed a $2.4 billion deal with LG Chem to supply battery cells. Using LG's cells, the startup plans to build the battery packs itself for electric vehicles built on its Variable Platform Architecture. According to The Korea Herald, which reported the leaked details of the deal, the supply agreement was reached back in August. Porsche offering new tire option for Carrera GT
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Let's face it: finding new tires for older cars can be challenging if tire manufacturers have stopped carrying the right sizes (this writer went through Hell to find a set of 205/60-13s). But what about tires for low-volume supercars, which use sizes that often won't fit on high-volume production vehicles? The Porsche Carrera GT isn't that old and tires are still available in the correct sizes, but the German automaker has shown its support of keeping them on the road by working with Michelin to give owners yet another tire option. Enter the Carrera GT-specific Pilot Super Sport.
It's common knowledge that tires are one of the most important pieces of the performance puzzle, and Porsche claims that the PSS tires, sized 265/35ZR-19 front and 335/30ZR-20 with Porsche's "N0" rating, will improve the Carrera GT's handling and stability all the way up to its claimed top speed of 205 miles per hour. That's important for a car with razor-sharp handling characteristics. They'll also net drivers a 10-percent increase in fuel economy on regular roads and up to 20 percent on racetracks, Porsche says.
The PSSs use cutting-edge tire technology to harness the Carrera GT's 610-horsepower. They have a dual-compound tread that's different from the inside of the tire to the outside, which, Porsche says, helps steering precision and increases maximum grip. Aramid fibers, which are lightweight but just as strong as steel, are used in the tire's belt to reduce unsprung weight.
Magnus Walker drives 911 Turbos old and new
Wed, Mar 25 2015It's been forty years now since Porsche released the original 911 Turbo. And as many things that have remained a constant, a lot has changed, too: the engine has gone from air-cooled to liquid, moved up to nearly a midships layout, and drives almost exactly double the original's output to all four wheels instead of just the back set through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission instead of a five-speed manual. It'll also reach highway speeds about twice as fast as the original. That's progress for you, and who better to compare Porsche Turbos old and new than Magnus Walker. The outlaw of the 911 scene may not look the part, but to those in the know, he's got the last word when it comes to Porsches. After searching for some time, Walker recently got his hands on a cherry of an original 930 Turbo from 1975 – the first year it was made – and had it shipped from Australia to California to add to his collection. eGarage caught up with Walker and brought along a new 991 Turbo for juxtaposition. Fortunately it also brought along a video camera or two to document the experience, so check it out in the latest video above.
