I’m selling my cherished 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo which runs great and is in near mint condition.  I’m looking to buy a home, so unfortunately, the Porsche must go.  I purchased the car from my stepbrother in January 2010, who bought the car in 2002.  The car was originally a Las Vegas car until I purchased the vehicle and brought the Porsche to Southern California.

This beautiful Turbo is finished in rare and desirable Speed Yellow with black leather interior and Tiptronic transmission.  Factory options include heated comfort seats with Porsche crests in the headrests, sunroof, alcantara lined roof, yellow stitching, yellow seat belts, yellow gauges and more.  The Porsche has an upgraded stereo which sounds spectacular and the car sits on beautiful black 19 inch Volk Racing TE37 wheels.  I only drive the car on weekends; otherwise it is always garaged and covered.  I have all of the service records.  The 60k mile service has already been performed and it currently has 62,555 miles.

This 911 was originally created by Roock Racing and is what Roock Racing called a “Roock 550” car which includes their custom front air dam and rear spoiler along with numerous performance upgrades.  I have upgraded the suspension, brakes, wheels and performance of the car since owning the vehicle sparing no expense.  Most of the engine and suspension upgrades were done by BBI Autosport in Huntington Beach, CA.  Below are the upgrades on the car, all of which are included:

Engine Performance:

  • K16 Billet Turbochargers

  • Porsche 997.2 GT2RS Intercoolers

  • Protomotive Software Flash (Dynoed 490 whp)

  • EVOMS Diverter Valves

  • IPD 68mm Plenum

  • Extrude Honed Y Pipe (powder coated yellow)

  • BBI Underdrive Pulley

  • Roock Racing Exhaust

Brakes/Suspension:

  • Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) from a Porsche 997.2; 6 piston calipers with 15” ceramic rotors up front and 4 piston calipers and ceramic rotors in the rear.  10lb per rotor savings over the original steel rotors!  Unbelievable braking power!

  • Ohlins R&T Coilovers

  • Tarrett Engineering Front Camber Monoball Camber Plates

  • GT3 Front and Rear Drop Links

  • Upgraded Toe Links

  • Rear Dog Bones

  • WEVO Semi Solid Engine Mounts

  • Volk Racing 19” TE37 Wheels (19 x9) and (19 x11) (Custom Black Finish)

  • Toyo R888 Tires 235/35/ZR19 and 295/30/ZR19

  • Professional alignment and corner balance by BBI Autosport.

Interior/Exterior:

  • Pioneer AVIC Z2 Head Unit with Navigation, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity

  • Phoenix Gold Amplifier

  • Pioneer 12” Subwoofer and with upgraded mids and woofers

  • K40 Calibre Front and Rear Radar Detector

  • 3M Clear Bra on front bumper and side mirrors

  • 5% Window Tint all around

The car is located in the Southern California (San Fernando Valley) and is ready for pickup.

California registration is paid through February 2015.  The owner’s manual, spare keys and spare tire/tool kit are available.  The original head unit and 6 disc CD changer is included in case anyone wants to turn the interior back to original.   A California Car cover is included as well.

This is the perfect weekend canyon car but comfortable enough to drive everyday if you should so desire.  The handling of this car is phenomenal and the braking performance is unsurpassed!  This 911 Turbo is stunning and turns heads everywhere you go.  This is one of the finest Speed Yellow 996 Turbos in captivity.  Clean title; Carfax verified.  Nonsmoker vehicle.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to capture this rare and gorgeous Porsche.  Serious inquiries only.

Fine Print:  The aforementioned vehicle is being sold “AS –IS” with no warranty expressed or implied of any kind by the seller.  Buyer assumes all responsibility for any and all taxes, fees, title costs, smog certification, shipping costs and any other costs associated with this purchase.  Buyer must arrange pickup of the vehicle in Southern California and is responsible for all shipping charges.  Seller is not responsible for any damage that may occur during shipping.

MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.

The dream of the '90s is alive in Porsche 968 retro review

Tue, Jun 30 2015

Only a month after Porsche confirmed that the next-generation Boxster and Cayman will get four-cylinder engines, it is apt that we have a MotorWeek retro review of the 1992 Porsche 968. Porsche hoped the 968 – nee 944 – and its naturally-aspirated, 3.0-liter, four-cylinder would revive sales of its entry-level line, but that didn't happen: going on sale in 1992, 1995 was its last year on the market. This was at a time when a stock 968 coupe cost $39,850, surpassing the out-the-door price of a loaded Chevrolet Corvette. The 968 convertible cost $51,000. That didn't stop MotorWeek's unanimous support of the 968, praising its design, the delivery of its 236 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque, and its handling - MotorWeek called it "Pure 90s performance," in spite of some fiddly switchgear and a noisy, firm ride. You can watch the review above. We have a feeling Porsche's four-cylinder fortunes will go much better this time around.
