This is a US version 1999 Porsche Carrera (911) (VIN: WP0AA2996XS620638) with auto transmission (Tiptronic). This is a very clean, rust free, original and lower than average mile Carrera. I bought this car for my wife as a ‘weekend car’ and it had about 86,000 miles on it back in 2011.  The car performs superbly, the cornering, the acceleration, the handling, brakes etc – it is a true Porsche.  While it is a really fun car to drive, practically speaking, my wife does not have the time to drive (with work, kids stuff etc.)  at all.  The last year, she drove it maybe a half a dozen times.  The car now has 88,100 miles on it.  We are now wanting to trade her primary car and is selling this car to partially pay for it.  Though we hate to part with the car, we also now need the garage space.

Let me describe the car a bit.  My wife and I bought the car from Tennessee (we live in Texas).  The prior owner also was using the car as a fun weekend car and used it sparingly.  The car has been garage kept most of its time.  I believe we are the third owners with the original first owner being in Florida.

This car is in original condition and state except for the wheels and radio.  The prior owner had upgraded the wheels to a 18” rim size with very low profile tires (making the car ride height very nice. The radio is an Alpine.   The paint work is in very good condition.  There appears to be some prior paint work done on the front fender, at the same time, the car finish is very nice.

The interior is as nice as can be. No rips, no stains, not really even much wear on the driver seat and the driver side carpet.  All the little lights work, all the handles are there, the dash and gauges are clean as can be.  The door panels great etc.  The headliner is in nice shape. The dash does not have any cracks.

The body is very solid and rust-free, straight and clean and shows no signs of any kind of previous body work.  The color is Red, with beige interior.  The bumpers are straight and clean, the light lenses are clean etc.

The car runs great, we have had the oil changed, new battery, new tires, wheel alignment/balance.   The AC blows cold air.  The transmission shifts very smoothly, with the ability to manually downshift.

While the car is in good condition, running very good, a few minor items needing attention are; driver sunvisor bracket cover is loose, a few small chips on front bumper, and there appears to be some prior paint work done on the front fender.  Other than this, we are not aware of any issues, at the same time, we are selling this car ‘as-is’ with no written or implied warranties.

This Porsche Carrera is the replacement for the older and iconic 911 series and you will not be disappointed at the original condition of this car.  It is a blast to drive, and built solid.  It took my wife and I a while to find this car and now we are quite sad to sell it, however, have to as we do not use it much and we need the garage space.   It has a clear title and I will provide the manuals and all that came with the car.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you have.  If you need the car checked out, please feel free to send your mechanic over to see the car first before you bid.  Buyer will have to pay for the transport.   I can help arrange reasonable shipping about anywhere.  I am not familiar with overseas shipping, so please enquire first.  Full payment must be received within 7 days of auction end.  I am a long time ebayer and have a very good rating/score.   I am setting a very reasonable reserve on the car and happy bidding.   Please note that we must be able to close transaction in 7 days.

Thanks for looking (and reading) and let me know if you have any questions at all.

Porsche's high-tech 'mirror' turns every car into a Macan

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Porsche calls it the "Magic Mirror," but it's less a reflective device and more 12 high-def screens that track drivers pulling into the valet area at a mall in Los Angeles. As they pass the screens in their cars, they get to see what they'd look like pulling up in a Macan, Porsche's newest and smallest crossover. It could be considered the experiential evolution of a prior campaign that let people imagine how a Porsche would look in their driveways, an idea that was taken even further by a dealer in Toronto a few years later. Check out the video to see how it was done and how it was received.

Good Samaritan pulls key from hit-and-run driver

Mon, Feb 15 2016

A man in England stopped a hit-and-run driver from fleeing the scene by grabbing her keys from the ignition. On February 13, Michael Scott witnessed a crash on a busy road in Birmingham, England according to the Telegraph. He watched as a Vauxhall Astra crashed into a Porsche right in front of his vehicle. At first, it seemed like the offending driver was going to stop, but she just kept going. Luckily, Scott had his dashboard camera rolling at the time. "I was shocked when the Astra driver didn't stop, and just carried on accelerating up the road," Scott told the Telegraph. "I thought the driver was trying to do a runner, so when the car in front of me moved off I managed to speed up and block the Astra in. Scott rushed ahead of traffic to cut off the Vauxhall in a turn lane a few hundred feet from where the crash originally occurred. The running driver then maneuvered around Scott, but was blocked by another car from making a clean getaway. Scott then nabbed the driver's keys to keep her from fleeing again. "I was in a rush so I couldn't stop, but I gave her keys to the Porsche driver and left," Scott told the Telegraph. "I contacted the police to let them know I had footage of the incident too." When police arrived they found both drivers were unhurt, though the Porsche will probably need some expensive repairs. The fleeing driver was charged with drinking and driving and is currently out on bail.

The 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona: What we learned, what we saw

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

Two days after the flag dropped on the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, people are still trying to figure out what it might portend for the rest of the season. In 24 hours, two minutes and 24 seconds, 695 laps were completed by the car that crossed the line first. During that time, 67 cars began the race, 18 of them retired. There was that accident, and a red flag. There were supposedly slower classes beating supposedly faster classes. There were 16 caution periods, including that yellow flag. And then there was The Decision. And Then The Uproar. And then The Reversal.
There was also some pretty good racing, so let's have one last look at the weekend. Oh, and there was that 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO Series II...
If you want to skip the reading bits and go to the photos, there's a high-res gallery of 158 images above and a couple more below. Enjoy.
