I am the 2nd owner of this 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 which is also know by the Porsche internal code of 996. The 1999 C4 featured several firsts for the 911.  In addition to the water cooled engine the car has Porsche Stability Management (PSM), which is the Porsche version of traction control, and E-gas.  With all wheel drive and the PMS this car just grips the road without being tail happy like earlier versions of the car.

I have owned the car for 8 years and over that time I have made a few upgrades that improve the car but keep the stock look.  The upgrades include:

LN IMS bearing:  this is a must.   Do not buy a 911 or Boxster without having this done.  Almost all Porsche Techs recommend that this upgrade be done.

Transmission reconditioned: I had my local shop open the transmission and check for wear and had them replace the pinion bearings.

ROW030 suspension:  This is a Porsche suspension package that improves handling without being harsh and lowers the car by about 1/2 inch.

Short shifter

Upgraded exhaust: adding a few HP and more pleasing and aggressive exhaust note.

Clear side marker lights, CD holder delete

The wear items on the car are all newer.  The clutch was changed 10K miles ago, Porsche rotors are new, the 17" tires (HTZ III) are new.  The car also has the better filtering spin on oil filter and adapter and a low temperature thermostat.

Over the time I have owned the car I averaged 4000 miles per year and stored the car during the winter.  I am selling the car because a recent move has left me short on garage space.

Also included in the sale are a set of original 18" turbo twist wheels and heated winter storage in the Holland, MI area.

These cars are a blast to drive and surprisingly modern for the age:  0-60 in 5ish seconds and 173 mph top speed, air bags, antilock brakes, traction control, etc.

The car is clean and in good condition. There are a few stone chips on the hood, a small dent near the drivers side marker light, and a few other dings.  Overall for the age and mileage the car is clean.  The interior is clean, the drivers seat shows a bit of wear but not rips or tears.  There is some spotting on the passenger side headlight and a small chip on the windshield.  The paint is good but there are a few spots that have crazing.  If you were looking at the car you would not think anything of them as they are that small.

I may have missed something, please let me know if you have any questions.  I have more pictures and can send them upon request.

If you are the winning high bidder I will allow you time to have the car inspected (PPI) by your preferred shop at your expense and will assist you in facilitating that.  If fact, I would encourage you to have a PPI done on any car you are considering.  I did.  If you were to decide not to buy the car based on the results I will ask you to pay the ebay fee of $125.  So $125 is your risk of winning the bid on this car.

In fairness to all bidders, I will not disclose my reserve during the auction period.

As they say, Happy Bidding.

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S debut [w/video]

Fri, 03 May 2013

The Turbo S will dispatch the Nürburgring in "well under seven and a half minutes."
Porsche is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its 911 Turbo in the best possible way: by announcing the next-generation of the rear-engined beast. The 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S are here, and man oh man, do they seem like the business.

Video proof the Porsche 912 deserves a second look

Thu, Dec 17 2015

The Porsche 912 suffered from a bad reputation for years as a lesser Porsche among the brand's ardent fans. Some people just didn't see the appeal of a coupe that shared the 911's lines but used a four-cylinder engine. The tide has started to turn recently as ballooning air-cooled 911 prices present these cars as an interesting alternative. The latest clip from Petrolicious also makes a great argument for the 912 by showing a Bahama Yellow example cruising along French roads. Like many of us, Antoine Gaslais had a tight budget and searched for years for his dream car. Things were more of a nightmare when he found his 1967 912, though. The coupe initially didn't run and then broke down once he thought it was fixed. A buddy eventually helped him get the Porsche back on the road. Gaslais knows his 912 isn't concours perfect, but that's not the point for him. Gaslais just likes to be able to cruise. Take a ride with him through some French hamlets in the latest from Petrolicious.

Porsche 911 already testing next refresh

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

The latest Porsche 911 may still be a newer car, but that hasn't stopped the German company from starting development of a facelifted version of the rear-engined sports car, testing in what looks like southern Europe.
Due to hit the market in 2015, our spies think what we're seeing here is the new GTS variant, which, following the evolution of the last-generation 911, will make its debut on the facelifted car. Featuring the wider rear haunches of the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4, the GTS should enjoy a slight power boost, to 408 ponies.
Aesthetically, there are some additional vents in the rear bodywork, along with a revised front bumper and tweaked day-time running lights. The taillights get some attention as well, and will likely grow over the current car's skinny rear lamps.
