1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa, this is a one owner car that was a demo or fleet car for the first 10K or so miles, the owner had it for 26 years and 125K miles. It AutoChecks at an 80, thats off the charts for the year. It has spent its entire life in Denver Colorado's dry arid climate. The car runs, drives and it looks amazing, with just 135,315 original miles in 27 years.

The outside color is Marmorgrau, thats Marble Gray in english. This was a special order car in 1986, this color was not offered in the 1986 model year but it's original to the car. The beautiful original paint comes with the dark blue interior. The interior is nearly perfect, there is a little ware on the drivers seat bolster. Targa top has been rebuilt looks and functions like new. I like original cars with no modifications, the dash is cracked in two places, but they are easily sourced out for recovering,  the flat black paint on the top Targa bar is starting to show its age as well. I personally like the original patina. It runs, drives and smells like a 911. I had a complete inspection done when I bought the car, I put new oil lines in, complete tune up to include new plugs and wires, the motor is dry. I had the window frames lifted and resealed the targa's cab. New lift struts for the bonnet and the tail. I have the original steering wheel, it needs to be recovered, I replaced the wheel with a period perfect original black wheel. Everything on this car works perfectly. The options list includes 018-sport steering wheel with elevated hub, 158 monterey radio package- up dated with a Blaupunkt am/fm cd player, I have the original Blaupnkt cassette unit, 220 - 40% locking differential, 241- factory short shift gear travel, 395- 16" fuchs, only one wheel has any rash and its very minimal, with near new tires. 424 - automatic heat control 454 - cruise control. This targa comes with ac, pw and power drivers seat. It's a great looking little time machine, when I went to see it I had no intentions of buying it, but it was so clean and original I couldn't pass it up. This car has been my winter project but with it done and a second child starting college in the fall, its time to move it on. Thanks for taking a look, good luck bidding.

Porsche employees take pay cuts so they can build Mission E

Wed, Dec 30 2015

Porsche's 13,000 workers in Zuffenhausen, Germany, agreed to work more and at adjusted wages to ensure that the factory can build the production version the Mission E electric performance sedan. Their sacrifices could save the German sports car maker several hundred million euros, according to Reuters. The Zuffenhausen site was possibly in danger of losing the Mission E because workers there receive higher wages than Porsche's other factories. The specific savings from these concessions reportedly include increasing the workweek by one hour to 35 hours and eliminating portions of pay increases between 2016 and 2025. Porsche didn't officially confirm the precise cuts, but a spokesperson told Reuters: "Employer and employees have jointly drawn up measures that have led to the decision of producing the Mission E model at Zuffenhausen." Porsche plans to invest about $768 million into the Zuffenhausen factory over the coming years. That money will help create over 1,000 new jobs and will build a new paint shop, assembly plant, and upgrade the engine factory to produce electric motors. The expansion will also allow the company to move all production of the Cayman and Boxster to Zuffenhausen by August 2016 rather than the current strategy of outsourcing some of the models' assembly to Osnabruck, Germany. The Mission E should enter production by 2020, and Porsche Executive Board Chairman Dr. Oliver Blume promises it to be the "most sophisticated model in this market segment." The concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show offered a glimpse at the next-gen technology by presenting a swoopy EV sport sedan with all-wheel drive and a total of 590 horsepower from two electric motors. Porsche claimed the concept could reach 62 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds and go nearly 311 miles on the European testing cycle.

The entire Porsche 911 history in under 90 seconds

Fri, Feb 12 2016

Over more than 50 years Porsche has taken a terrible idea - hanging an engine behind the rear wheels so that the car will try to go backwards through corners - and turned it into an automotive icon. One way that happened was keeping that unmistakable shape. As you'll see in the video above, the proportions are true to the original even with the relatively radical changes with recent models. The animation includes price and power figures, and even has the model designations, so you can keep up in conversation when a Porschephile starts rambling about random numbers.

Porsche not responsible for Paul Walker and Roger Rodas crash

Tue, Apr 5 2016

A US District Court judge has found that Porsche wasn't responsible for the Carrera GT crash that killed Roger Rodas and actor Paul Walker, according to The Detroit News citing the Associated Press. Rodas' widow, Kristine, brought the lawsuit against the German automaker, but the court ruled there was a lack of evidence for her case. "Plaintiff has provided no competent evidence that Rodas' death occurred as a result of any wrongdoing on the part of defendant," US District Judge Philip S. Gutierrez ruled, according to the AP. Rodas' lawyer pledged to appeal the decision. Rodas' lawsuit asserted that the Carrera GT's right rear suspension failed and also cited the Porsche's lack of a proper fuel cell or a crash cage as factors. However, the judge didn't see any evidence for the suspension failure. He also criticized the expert for Rodas' side for analyzing tire marks from over a month after the crash rather than the photos from right after the incident, the AP reports. A 2014 investigation by the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department blamed unsafe speed as the fatal accident's cause. The investigators reported that the Carrera GT was doing between 80 and 93 miles per hour when the crash happened. They also found nothing mechanically wrong with the supercar but did discover that the tires were over nine years old. The LA County Coroner ruled that both deaths were accidents. According to the AP, the lawsuits from Walker's daughter and his father against Porsche are still pending in Los Angeles Superior Court, and the district court ruling doesn't affect them. In each case, Porsche denied being at fault and cited the sheriff's investigation as support for that argument. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
