Vanilla Sundae, Everyday
What if your Sunday driver could be your daily driver; Porsche Everyday? What if Porsche made a GT3 in 1986? This
is the car!
The car is a very rare color that was special order only in 86’. The paint is all original. The wheels are the
original as well and have been recently refinished. The car has fresh Bridgeston RE-71 Tires, these are the best
performers in dry/wet tires for the 16” wheels. The cars suspension has been replaced for a proper ride and
safety.
Bilstein Sport shocks in the rear and comfort in front gives the best balance between road feel that is not too
firm or too soft. Instead of just repairing the CV joints I had the axles replaced. Lowered to European Ride
Height, with a alignment setup for performance driving, and corner balanced for a drivers weight of 185 pounds. The
stance is further refined with the addition of rear wheel spacers. The wheel bearings were also replaced.
The OEM brakes lacked the stopping power I was accustomed to from driving modern GT3’s. Rather then just upgrade
to 930 brakes, I wanted to take it a step further and got a big brake kit with some custom fabrication done to fit
the factory wheels. The rotors are much larger then factory as well. Steel brake lines have been added with PFC
pads and the best possible brake fluid Castrol SRF.
The exhaust system has been completely replaced with new pipes and gaskets. Starting with Euro George’s headers
(known for making the most power), Cat Delete Straight pipes, and M&K GT3 Style Center Exhaust (2in 2 out). With
this setup you’d be surprised at just how good the car sounds; zero drone, and not too loud at full throttle. I
have to mention with the addition of the headers the car currently does not have heat. Heater components will be
included in the sale. Also to add to performance and maximize gains from the exhaust system the car has a custom
performance chip done by Steve Wong from 911chips. The spark plugs were just replaced along with new wires and
distributor cap.
Being a Florida Car (from 86 to now) I had the air conditioning system upgraded and it will keep you cool up to 90
degrees! Worn hoses were replaced, a “pro cooler” was added, a new compressor, and the system runs on a R12
substitute. A Keuhl air vent was also added for a little more flow.
The most crucial connection between man and car is in the cabin; the steering wheel and shifter. The steering wheel
has been replaced with a Momo Prototipo wheel. It isn’t just a visual improvement, but a performance enhancement.
The leather embossed Porsche Crest horn button completes the look. The factory shifter was vague and uninspiring. I
had that replaced with a Rennshift kit. It gives the shifter a much more modern defined feel. There is no searching
for gears. Its a positive feel when engaging gears. All of the bushings have been replaced, the coupling, engine &
transmission mounts, and the gearbox oil as well. This is the best 915 you will come across. I have driven G50’s
that don't feel as good!
Custom Door light weight door panels wrapped in leather and stitched too look factory really add to the experience
of the car. The door pulls are leather straps that gives you the feeling you are stepping out of something really
special, which you are. Other weight savings include, rear seatback delete, heat delete, Recaro seats, and lighter
exhaust system.
Two sets of keys, original spare, and manual are also included. In addition the car is hard wired for a valentine
one radar detector. A cup holder has been added as well.
The cars performance is excellent. Between the handling, braking, acceleration, it has it all to go with the looks.

Porsche to replace chassis components in 918 Spyders

Tue, Dec 23 2014

The entire production run of the Porsche 918 Spyder is completely sold out, but 205 of them need to make a trip to the dealer for a repair estimated to take about two days. According to Porsche, it found quality problems with unspecified "chassis components" on the hybrid supercar and has instituted a plan to fix them as a precautionary measure. There were no reported breakages of these parts or complaints from customers. The German automaker already contacted all of the affected owners directly to have the 918s repaired in 2015. When reached for comment, Porsche Director of Corporate Communications Achim Schneider told Autoblog via email that "due to the supplier relationship we did not announce further details regarding the components so far." He also said that 43 vehicles are affected in North America, which includes the US and Canada. The 918 Spyder was affected by a small recall in the US earlier this year when Porsche found that the rear-axle control arms could potentially break. The campaign covered only five cars, though. Porsche replaces chassis components in 205 vehicles worldwide Atlanta. As a precautionary measure, Porsche will replace chassis components in 205 vehicles of the 918 Spyder model worldwide. The reason for this is that for vehicles that were manufactured in a certain time period defective parts were used from a delivery batch, whose functionality cannot be permanently guaranteed. No complaints have been made known (such as a break of a component) from customers up till now. The problem was identified during in-house quality inspections and remedied immediately. The owners of the vehicles, which could be exactly traced, were contacted directly by their competent Porsche representatives. The workshop visit, which will take place by appointment at the onset of 2015, takes about two days to complete at no charge. Porsche sees error of ways, next 911 GT3 to offer manual transmission

Fri, Mar 4 2016

Consider this Porsche's mea culpa. After creating an uproar over selling a new 911 GT3 without a manual transmission, the automaker introduced the limited-edition, manual-equipped 911 R in Geneva. That car is just a stopgap, though. It's meant to hold 911 drivers over until the next GT3 arrives with the same six-speed manual transmission. Yes, the next-gen GT3 will get an old-fashioned six-speed manual, according to a new report from Autocar (but the GT3 RS will still be PDK-only). In fact, the same report claims Porsche will make sure that the 911 GT3 remains the car for the brand's most ardent purists. While the rest of the Porsche range moves to turbocharged engines, the GT3 will stick to its naturally aspirated guns. That comes direct from the big boss behind the GT3, Andreas Preuninger, who told the magazine this would be the case "for the foreseeable future." According to Preuninger, the only member of Porsche's GT line that will go turbocharged is the one that's been that way all along – the GT2 and GT2 RS, which we'll see next year. And yes, Preuninger's statement about limited turbocharging applies to the Cayman GT4, too, even though the model that high-performer is based on has moved to a line of turbocharged engines. When the next GT4 arrives, it'll be with a flat-six in the middle. Related Video:

Porsche's former CEO Wiedeking to stand trial over VW-share manipulation

Wed, 27 Aug 2014

Former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (left in the above photo) could potentially be facing some time in the slammer after all. The last we had heard, he and former Chief Financial Officer Holger Haerter (right) had avoided a trial in April due to a lack of evidence. However, an appeals court in Stuttgart has looked at the case again and overruled the earlier decision, finding that the executives should be tried for share manipulation during Porsche's failed attempt to take over Volkswagen in 2008, Bloomberg reports.
The judges in the appeal "list numerous indications that could suggest that there was a hidden decision to increase the stake as they could suggest the opposite evaluation by the lower court," said Stefan Schueler, a spokesperson for the court, in a statement cited by Bloomberg. Wiedeking and Haerter put out their own releases saying that there was no merit to the charges.
The prosecutors allege that Wiedeking and Haerter had a plan to buy up VW stock options in 2008 to take the automotive giant over but hid it from investors. The whole thing was a massive failure and eventually allowed VW the chance to acquire Porsche and forced the two execs to step down. In addition to the criminal investigation, hedge funds have attempted to sue the company multiple times in civil court for the same reason, but they have repeatedly failed.
