I am selling my 1984 Porsche 911 Targa Project car. I had recently intended to restore or convert this into a cabriolet but have other projects first in line. Rather than store it for several years I would rather free up the space in my garage. Would make a great speedster project or cabriolet conversion or possibly a track car.  Please email me with any questions and I will be happy to take pictures of any area around the car.  Inspections can be set up to view the car as well. I will do my best to describe the condition of the car. PLEASE ASK BEFORE BIDDING.

General Condition of the Car: This is a rust free car from close inspection in and around the car. The previous owner had painted the car poorly and it has been sanded in certain areas around the car. Looks like there is no clear coat.  The car will need to be repainted. There is also red overspray on some of the suspension pieces and other parts of the car. I do not see any body damage with exception to the engine deck lid which looks like it was pounded out and smoothed out but i dont know if it was even orginal with the car.   Floors are in great condition. i have not attempted to wash or clean the car(except vacuuming) in attempt to hide anything.  From what i was told the motor was shot and a previous owner in the cars history had started to part it out before the left overs were sold. The gentlemen i purchased it from was starting to source the parts to restore before he lost interest. This is not a salvage vehicle according to the Illinois title.

The car is a roller with what looks to be complete front and rear suspension. Rims/Tires look to be from a porsche 944. Rims also have a light overspray which looks like it will clean up.

What I know:

No Engine or Transmission. There are some interior pieces but alot of them will need restoring. I do not have a full inventory of all the pieces. No front seats.  No front windshield. Targa top frame is there but in rough shape. It will need restoring and new hardware. Back seats are there but leather is not great with red overspray from the sloppy paint job. Have the gauges but they are not in the best shape(bent bezel and few scratches ect). Oil tank is

ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING!  This is a project car with missing parts.  I have the title from the previous owner and my bill of sale.  The vehicle is sold as is with no implied or expressed warranty.

$500 Deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end. The balance will be due within 72 hours of auction close by money order/cashiers check or cash in person.

Shipping: I will help assist the buyer in loading and un loading onto a trailer. When i purchased this car I had it shipped across country in an enclosed car hauler which can be found easily on the internet. I can even recomend the hauler I used. I would not recomend a large car carrier(semi) as they will have have trouble navigating around the streets of my subdivision.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS revealed in patent photos

Fri, 01 Aug 2014

Porsche has been taking its time developing the most hardcore 911 models for the latest 991 chassis. While the GT3 has been on the market for a little while, it suffered from some teething issues. The 911 GT3 RS is certainly on the radar since being spotted testing, but it's always better to get a look at a new car without all of the camo to hide the coolest parts. Thankfully, Car in the UK has some patent photos of the RS ahead of its debut, and they show off one mean-looking 911.
The first thing that you notice about the RS is that Porsche clearly isn't afraid to rework the latest 911's shape for its track-focused version. Each piece is slightly resculpted to squeeze the most out of it. Up front, the air dam has the same shape to the earlier photos. They also both highlight the upcoming model's tiny air inlet at the tip of the hood, the massive intakes in the rear fenders and general design of the rear wing with a ducktail underneath. The bubbled roof is much clearer here, where it was disguised in spy shots. You can also spot the slashing fender gills behind the front wheels that are a completely new feature.
The GT3 RS is the ultimate naturally aspirated 911 for the street, but according to Car, Porsche aims to take that even farther with the latest model. If these are the looks, then it's working. Unfortunately, the new version's powerplant remains a mystery. Though, given all the changes to the bodywork, the engine is almost surely getting tweaked over the 475-horsepower GT3. The RS is rumored to hit the road and be screaming down the track in 2015.

Porsche tells 2014 911 GT3 owners to park their cars pending inspection

Thu, 20 Feb 2014

Porsche may have have a serious problem on its hands. After a rumored five 2014 911 GT3 coupes caught fire in recent weeks, Porsche launched an investigation and stopped delivering its road-ready racecar until it could diagnose the problem. Now, it has issued a press release asking all 2014 911 GT3 owners to immediately stop driving their cars until they can be inspected. Porsche is offering to pick up the cars from owners' homes and take them to the nearest dealer.
Porsche confirms that the at least two 911 GT3 coupes them have caught fire in Europe, and it has elected to inspect all 785 2014 GT3s worldwide. However, it claims no drivers have been injured in the fires. Unfortunately, Porsche says, "Internal studies to determine the cause of the engine damage have not been completed yet," so owners might have a bit of a wait before they are able to drive Porsche's ultimate 911 again. NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022

Thu, Mar 17 2016

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.
