1983 Porsche 911 on 2040-cars
Houston, Texas, United States
very clean 1983 911sc... runs and drive tight and smooth, this a clean driver that was highly opted which includes factory wing, sunroof front, chin spoiler, fog lights, h4 lights, factor ac (not working) and pleated leather seats. the porsche is all stock but the exhaust was upgraded to a ss system that sounds awesome. I bought this car for my wife because it was her dream car, not knowing she was not willing to learn to drive a manual. she didnt know the car only came manual. I have driven the porsche over 2500 miles in the last 6 months with no problems at all. I remove the ac because it didnt work and I was told the removal would add power, it did! not a lot but the car is so light every little bit help. I would not say its fast but it is fun to drive for sure. (my last porsche was 911 twin turbo, it was fast!) I hate to sell this car but she said she want a 997 with an auto trans. lol I looked long and hard to this car and was very happy with it. I purchased an additional deck lid because I prefer the no wing look, I have the original wing and its in great shape. I also have the ac complete. new parts include: fuel pump, fuel hose and clamps, fuel sending unit, all new oil lines, oil change, oil drain ring. work preformed on 5-03-16. miles 110,125 spark plugs. work preformed 2-03-016 ignition control unit and ignition coil 2-01-16 window switchs and v-belt 11-30-10 fuel accumulator, fuel filter, air regulartor, hood gas strut, preformed 8-06-09 shift ball socket, shift sleeve, shift coupler, plastic sleeve, preformed 8-06-09 with 109869 miles... miles on the car today is 110900 new Alpine blue tooth radio and new alpine speakers work preformed 6-10-16 THE GOODS: it a 1983 porsche 911sc the last year of the sc and the most powerful. it runs and drives so good! shifts great though all the gears like it should, I driven hundreds of 911 with the 915 trans and this is the best of all. the inside is good no rips or tears dash is good all controls work like they should all the gauges work even the clock the brake are good and stop like new recently had a tune up which includes NEW FUEL PUMP, PLUGS, MSD COIL, TIE RODS AND BATTERY. I have all the a/c parts and the factor rear wing. 915 Transmission shifts very smooth and tight THE BAD: not that much really the paint is super shinny and looks great going down the road, but some of the body work done before the paint is not great you can see sanding scratches in some places and the clear on the passenger side door is not smooth. maybe it could be buffed, I was going the paint the car so I didnt care. SO.... Im writing this and I walk out to my car to look to see if I overlooked anything and noticed the dash now has a crack in it and didnt yesturday sunroof is not working the motor works but the roof does not move.

Will the Mission E be the world's first must-have EV?
Fri, Feb 5 2016The Porsche Mission E concept was recently green-lit for production and has a tentative production date just before the end of the decade. With the recent onslaught of all-electric technology, the question remains: Which automaker will release the first must have all-electric EV? Tesla has clearly gained experience in testing the worldwide appetite for luxury, six-figure EVs, having sold its 100,000th vehicle in just three years and six months. But it remains to be seen if automakers can truly manufacture the ultimate green driving machine. Audi has shown its R8 e-tron but acknowledged that it will be produced in only limited quantities. On the other end of the spectrum, vehicles like the Chevy Bolt and BMW i8 are being produced for mass consumption, but will they satisfy the enthusiast who is looking for more than a commuter car? Tesla's Model S has certainly raised eyebrows and collected accolades with "ludicrous" level straight-line performance, but how well will the vehicle stand up to long-term ownership for enthusiasts? Porsche has dismissed any notions of autonomous driving in its vehicles, suggesting that it will try to stay close to its high-performance roots. This would seem to suggest that despite all the forecasted performance cred of the Mission E – 582 horsepower, 0–60 in 3.5 seconds, and a 310-mile range – potential buyers may not be getting the latest and greatest in gee-whiz-bang autonomous technology. And while Porsche has offered that future iterations of its 911 and 718 may in fact use hybrid-assisted drivetrains, the execution of a true, mass-produced, all-electric sports sedan remains to be seen. One thing is for certain, unlike start-ups like Tesla, the larger, more established manufacturers have larger budgets and more time to invest in R&D. Consumers have raised expectations from the more mature automakers in terms of reliability and the overall finish of their products. The arrival of the Mission E production car may introduce us to electric sports sedans that emphasize performance over efficiency while still eliminating its carbon footprint. Porsche 918 Spyder roars electric through London
Sun, Jun 29 2014The Porsche 918 Spyder can be an object of lust for anyone who appreciates the finer things in the automotive world, but for us greenies with penchant for speed, the car is an icon. This gorgeous, all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid offers 887 horsepower and 940 pound-feet of torque, can do 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds and is capable of 214 miles per hour. It lapped the Nurburgring in a record 6:57. Still, it is capable of near-silent, relaxed cruising through one of Europe's busiest cities. In a new video from Porsche, chief driving instructor Gordon Robertson takes the 918 to London and does just that. While driving in E-Power mode, he describes some of the things that make the car special, as well as how the technology has developed through the 911 GT3 R Hybrid and the 919 LMP1 car to eventually be passed onto the Panamera S E-Hybrid. If you're interested, you can learn more about the car in our own drive review, here. It's great to see, for the first time, the 918 Spyder driving alongside London's black cabs and double-decker buses. The rubbernecking from pedestrians is noticeable and completely understandable. I'm sure we'd all love to see this car come silently sneaking down our own city streets, but until Porsche makes that happen, you'll just have to enjoy the video below. Porsche Mission E Concept puts Tesla Model S in its sights [w/video] [UPDATE]
Mon, Sep 14 2015UPDATE: The Mission E might not top the Tesla in driving distance after all. The Porsche's nearly 311-mile range is on the European testing cycle, but the original story compares it to Teslas on the US evaluation. According to Tesla, a Model S 85D is rated at the equivalent of 328 miles in Europe, and the P85D is at 305 miles. The new 90 kWh battery can add an additional six percent to those figures. Porsche might not be saying it directly, but anyone taking even a quick glance can see the Germans are taking aim at Tesla with the freshly unveiled Mission E concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. With over 590 horsepower, this electric sedan doesn't have quite as much electric grunt as a Model S, but the claimed 310.7 miles of range would outdo even the latest take on Elon Musk's four-door with a 90 kWh battery. For those keeping track, a Ludicrous Speed-equipped Tesla might still be the ultimate victor in a drag race because the E's sprint to 62 takes "under 3.5 seconds." To power the Mission E, Porsche's engineers use two permanent magnet synchronous motors, and they are similar to what's found on the company's 919 Hybrid LMP1 racecar. In a single unit, the devices can both accelerate and recover braking energy. All-wheel drive with torque vectoring and four-wheel steering help the electric sedan lap the Nordschleife in less than eight minutes, the company claims. Capable of hitting 124 mph in less than 12 seconds, the Mission E is undoubtedly quick, but its speed in charging is especially impressive too. The concept utilizes an 800-volt system that Porsche claims can charge the sedan to 80 percent in just 15 minutes, assuming you can find a source for that much energy. That would be enough to offer about 249 miles of range in less time than getting a cup of coffee at a busy Starbucks. The E could also use a traditional 400-volt charger or power up inductively. The Mission E's design looks like a futuristic Panamera as filtered through the style of the 918 and a next-gen Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet. In an especially cool touch, the charging port is hidden in a movable panel ahead of the driver's door on the front fender. Also, like like lots of four-door concepts in recent memory, the design sports suicide doors with no B-pillars. To keep weight to a minimum, the body mixes aluminum, steel, and carbon-fiber reinforced polymer. Also present are carbon-fiber wheels.
