1978 Porsche 911SC - Original Unrestored Car

This is a great low mileage example of a first year 911SC Coupe. It has always been garaged and has only traveled
36,630 miles. Its totally original and it has had a recent $10,000 dollar engine out service to address chain
tensioners and head studs that were weak in this model. It's original silver paint shows well and the interior is
fantastic. It has the highly sought after
velour inserts with silver striping and the seats are in great shape. It has been professionally detailed and is
ready to use. If you have been looking for an SC coupe this one would be hard to beat.

Hagerty's Description:

History of the 1978-1983 Porsche 911

Porsche engineers don’t make mistakes very often but the U.S. spec 2.7 liter 911s built between 1975 and 1977
were plagued with engine problems when new. In 1978, Porsche put those problems behind them with the introduction
of the brilliant 3.0 liter 911SC. Porsche now finally mated a body that was capable of lasting indefinitely with an
engine that was capable of lasting nearly that long. Well maintained 911SCs are capable of 300,000 miles between
rebuilds. Power was up too from the 2.7 liter 911 although not by an enormous amount and the SC was good for a 0-60
run of about 6.3 seconds. Leather, A/C power mirrors, and forged alloy wheels became all but standard. The last
year of the car saw the addition of the first full convertible Porsche since 1965. It wasn’t quite yet the
perfect 911—that would have to wait until the 3.2 liter Carrera—timing chain tensioners and exploding airboxes
would continue to plague the 3.0 liter cars. By now though, enthusiast owners have updated these trouble spots on
most cars and the 911SC remains an excellent choice for a first Porsche.

Listen to the Porsche Macan's exhaust note ahead of its LA debut

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

As if we need further proof that the Porsche Macan won't just be another small CUV, it'll be a small Porsche CUV, the German automaker has released a video of the vehicle's raucous exhaust note. In short, the Macan will sport a far racier soundtrack than most of its competitors.
The raspy sound coming from one of the Macan's two turbocharged V6 engines sounds great (the video isn't clear as to whether we're listening to the base 3.0-liter or the Turbo model's 3.6-liter engine), and it's accompanied by a nice crackle on overrun. It isn't like a 911 or other flat-six model, but it is more or less what we expect a Porsche to sound like. We'll have all the details on the newest member of the Porsche lineup when it debuts later this month at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. Scroll down for an official press release from Porsche, as well as the video of the Macan, and be sure to turn your speakers up.

Porsche says goodbye to Audi's Le Mans team in this classy video

Fri, Dec 16 2016

Well, this is cute. You may remember that in 2014 Audi made a video to welcome Porsche, its corporate sibling, back to Le Mans racing. It involved an Audi race car, a farmer on an old Porsche tractor, and the street in front of Porsche HQ. With Audi leaving Le Mans after a successful 18-year run, Porsche is returning the favor with this sort of sappy video. There's not much more to it. The video starts with clips from the original, where the Porsche-diesel-tractor-driving farmer is passed by an Audi R18 that traveled from Ingolstadt to Stuttgart to make some very precise German street graffiti (in English). Then, in the present day, the farmer hears the news of Audi leaving LMP1 and he gets an idea while Joe Cocker's "Up Where We Belong" starts to play. (Yes, seriously.) We won't spoil the ending for you. It still stinks that Audi had to leave Le Mans racing in the wake of the diesel scandal to focus on Formula E racing instead. But it's good to see there are no hard feelings between the two VW Group brands, at least as far as the marketing departments are concerned. We expect the Porsche-Audi sibling rivalry and corporate squabbles to continue behind closed doors, however. Related Video: Audi Porsche Racing Vehicles Videos porsche 919 hybrid
