This absolutely stunning original Talbot Yellow 911S Coupe long term project is ready for a new owner who can
either drive it the way it sits, or take it to the next level...which isn't that far away.
This beauty may lose some of it's aura if you give the "B" grade paint finish a really close inspection, and you
might find it a little unsettling that it smokes a little at startup if it's been sitting unused for several days.
And yes, there is some very light surface rust in a couple of places that can be easily fixed, and a parking lot
bump shows a little on the right rear rubber bumper.
So much for the bad news, now a little about the good: The stock (and numbers correct) 2.7L engine was rebuilt to a
high level in 2001 (21,000 miles ago) with performance head studs, updated turbo chain tensioners, 11-blade cooling
fan, ported and polished heads, higher lift camshafts, carburetors and stainless steel headers, heat exchangers and
performance exhaust. The engine shrouding, valve covers and cooling fan were bead blasted and powder coated a
beautiful satin black. The stock 915 transmission was rebuilt, 1st and 2nd gear synchronizers replaced, clutch
replaced with a lightweight ceramic unit, and the shifter and connection linkage replaced with Wevo units.
The suspension was upgraded to new Bilstein shocks and struts, with new turbo tie-rod ends and sway bar linkage.
The brake calipers were rebuilt with new Ferodo performance friction.
The interior was replaced: new factory original carpet set, Lloyds floor mats, factory vinyl seat covers front and
rear, and door panels. The radio was replaced with a very tasteful Becker CDR-210 unit from a Boxster with Boston
Acoustics speakers, though I always prefer the music the flat six makes!
The exterior was updated with Euro halogen headlights and taillight lenses and a new rubber front bumper "smile".
The stock Fuchs wheels (needing restoration) were replaced with later "black spoke" models which I prefer...but you
can have your choice of either set...just not both. The tires on both sets are rather old, so you should budget
replacement before any spirited driving.
I sold my very successful auto repair shop last year and am transitioning to a less stressful life without needful
performance cars. Rest assured that all work was completed to a high standard (excepting the paint, and that guy
has since died, so I can't really speak ill of his craftsmanship), and the photos speak for themselves.

Porsche clinches 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship
Sun, Nov 1 2015There's still another round to go in the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship. But regardless of what happens in Bahrain later this month, Porsche has already laid claim to the manufacturers' title for this year. That's how far ahead it is of the competition. The championship was sealed this weekend when the Porsche 919 Hybrid driven by Timo Bernhard, Mark Webber, and Brendon Hartley crossed the finish line at the 6 Hours of Shanghai in first place. That marked not only the fourth straight win for the trio, but the fourth one-two finish for Porsche and the fifth straight victory this season. That's pretty remarkable when you consider that Porsche only arrived in the series last year, and only serves to further sweeten the win it took at Le Mans this past June. This marks the first time since entering WEC that Porsche has taken the championship, which was claimed last year by Toyota and in the previous two years since the revival of the series by Audi. However Porsche, of course, is no stranger to the winner's circle in endurance racing, having taken 12 previous championships between 1964 and 1986. The victory in Shanghai also puts Bernhard, Webber, and Hartley in prime position to secure the drivers' championship. The trio currently sits in the lead ahead of Audi's Andre Lotterer, Marcel Fassler, and Benoit Treluyer. This despite the Porsche trio having failed to make the finish line in the opening round at Silverstone. By taking the fifth victory in a row Porsche has made itself a World Champion in Shanghai. One race before the season's finale no one can take away the constructors' title in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) from the young team from Weissach. In China the winning drivers were Timo Bernhard (DE), Brendon Hartley (NZ) and Mark Webber (AU) in a six-hour race of which two thirds were held on a wet track. The sister car of Romain Dumas (FR), Neel Jani (CH) and Marc Lieb (DE) finished second and hence the season's fourth one-two victory for the Porsche team. Porsche has won the title with 308 points ahead of Audi (238) and Toyota (137). For Porsche it is the 13th constructors' World Championship title in endurance racing and the first since 1986. Between 1964 and 1986 Porsche took twelve constructors' titles in the then Sports Car World Championship.
Porsche Macan to get four-cylinder engines
Tue, 10 Dec 2013Porsche hasn't offered a four-cylinder engine since the 968 went out of production in 1995 - the better part of two decades ago. There'd been talk of a four-pot Boxster or an even smaller model to slot in below it, but while the latest intel indicates that Porsche is moving ahead with its four-cylinder plans, it's a different kind of vehicle that will get it first.
That, of course, would be the new Macan. Just revealed a few weeks ago at the LA Auto Show, the Macan crossover is being launched with a pair of twin-turbocharged V6 engines (a 3.0 with 340 horsepower and a 3.6 with 400 hp) and a six-cylinder turbodiesel with 258 hp. But smaller engines, according to emerging reports from Autocar and Auto Express, are on their way.
Word has it that Porsche is preparing a 2.0-liter turbo four with 280 horsepower and a diesel with the same displacement and cylinder count, engines that will power new entry-level Macan models that will slot in beneath the existing Macan S, Macan S Diesel and Macan Turbo. While the diesel is tipped to be ported over from the Volkswagen parts bin, the four-cylinder gasoline engine is said to be under development by Porsche itself, which could mean it will have a boxer layout.
2016 Porsche 919 Hybrid sharpens up to defend its titles
Thu, Mar 24 2016Porsche made a clean sweep of LMP1 racing last season, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship for both drivers and manufacturers. And now that it's back on top of the podium, it's not about to step down again without putting up a fight. To that end, witness the newly revised 919 Hybrid. Revealed ahead of the season's start with the Prologue event at the Paul Ricard circuit in France, the 2016 Porsche 919 Hybrid is an evolution of the version that debuted in 2014 and trounced the competition in 2015. But Audi and Toyota – with their similarly revised R18 and TS050 – will be at least as hungry this year to dethrone Porsche as Porsche will be to retain its titles, so the racing engineers in Weissach have made made a number of revisions. The chassis and basic engine architecture, of course, are the same, with a two-liter turbocharged V4 assisted by a brake energy recovery system at the front and exhaust energy recuperation at the back. But the engine now uses less fuel, so it can run longer between pit stops – a vital element of the strategy when racing for hours on end. The aerodynamics were made more adjustable so that the team can switch between three packages depending on the type of track they're running. While they were at it, those notoriously exacting German engineers managed to cut some excess weight out as well. And instead of the three different color liveries like last year, this season the 919 Hybrid will run under a common livery of black, white, and red – which hopefully won't get mixed up with those of its rivals from Audi and Toyota. We guess we'll all find out when the season kicks off in earnest at Silverstone in mid-April. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. World debut of the new 919 Hybrid: Two days before the official Prologue for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) at Paul Ricard, France, Porsche is presenting its race car for this season. Strong development characterises the new 919 Hybrid' technology. The powertrain became even more efficient, the aerodynamics were even more specific for the various race tracks and the weight of single components was even more reduced. "The over 900 hp strong Le Mans Prototype is ready for the title defence," said Fritz Enzinger, Vice President LMP1.
