Just in, 1975 Porsche 911 S Targa . This Porsche is being sold for a gentleman who has developed cancer and had not planned on parting with but must sell due to medical expenses. The car was recently resprayed in its factory Gemini metallic blue and would make a great weekend driver /garage queen and investment. During the restoration a new Targa top was installed, new carpet was installed, the fronts seats were recovered and the 15" fuchs were refinished and polished out by Al Reed (dirty in the pics) and has new tires. The motor code is *6106873* and is a strong running 2.2L flat six with approximately 30k miles and pulls strong. The late second prior owner was a Porsche mechanic and he installed the 30k mi. motor in the restoration. It comes with PMO 40 carbs, early heat exchangers with 2 in 1 out muffler and a recent valve adjustment and tune up. The car also has the Bosch CDI ignition and fires right up on the first try with a couple of pumps to the accelerator before starting. This car sounds fantastic and it should also be noted that the motor is very dry underneath and I haven't noticed any oil dripping on the floor. The transmission is a 901 5-speed and shifts into all gears ok as one would expect from a transmission of this era. The car is out of Arizona originally and the body is super solid. This Porsche had approximately 50k miles on it from around the time the thermal reactor 2.7 motor needed replaced and then sat waiting on a restoration. I was told the original speedometer broke and the current replacement RSR speedometer shows 113984 which is not correct. The total real miles on the body are approximately 54k now and around 30k on engine but will be sold as mileage exempt due to its age. The only thing I saw that needs some attention is the parking brake needs adjusted or fixed as it is in-operable. The dash is cracked and there is also a rock chip that I tried to photogragh on the quarter panel with the possibility or another nick or two in the paint but absolutely nothing to major. As you can see from the pics the car is in great condition for being almost being 40 years old and is a true survivor. This 1975 Porsche 911 S Targa is being sold 100% AS-IS and the seller is not responsible for fixing anything whatsoever. The VIN # is 91152110977 and is a real S car. Don't miss out! Qualified buyers may email or call and leave message with any questions. Contact: Troy Martens @ 402-440-9670. Bid to own and ask all questions prior to bidding inspections at bidder's expense are welcomed. A $500 non-refundable down payment is due at the immediate end of auction and and all remaining funds due within 72 hours of auction or with a buy it now ending. Sale is not contingent of you getting your loan! All funds need to be available before you start bidding. All inspections must be completed prior to auction ending. Thanks for bidding and don't miss out on it!

Juan Pablo Montoya tests Porsche 919 Hybrid in Bahrain
Tue, Nov 24 2015Sealing the FIA World Endurance Championship wasn't the only thing that Porsche did this past weekend in Bahrain. Alongside its rivals from Audi and Toyota, the German outfit also participated in a test session for potential new drivers, including Juan Pablo Montoya. Driving the Le Mans- and championship-winning Porsche 919 Hybrid at the Bahrain International Circuit this weekend, Montoya set the fastest time of the day. His "qualifying" lap was clocked at 1:40.86, barely more than a second behind the 1:39.67 lap that earned Timo Bernhard pole position in the previous day's race – and a second faster than the fastest lap set in the race by Neel Jani in another 919 Hybrid. That's a mighty impressive feat for a driver relatively unaccustomed to driving a modern hybrid LMP1. Racing fans will know Montoya as a multi-talented driver. The Colombian has competed successfully in Formula One, Indy, NASCAR, and sports prototypes, winning races in all disciplines. Aside from the International Formula 3000 title, three outright victories in the 24 Hours of Daytona, and a handful of NASCAR street-course races, Montoya can count among his many achievements the CART title, two Indianapolis 500 wins, and the checkered flag at the Monaco Grand Prix (along with six other F1 races). Those victories have brought JP among the closest to winning the Triple Crown of motorsports of any driver in racing history, and he's still competing. For those unfamiliar, the Triple Crown is an unofficial measure to gauge the diverse talents of professional racing drivers in three disciplines: Indy, F1, and Le Mans. To win, a driver has to win the Indianapolis 500, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and either the Monaco Grand Prix or the Formula One World Championship. Graham Hill is the only driver in history to have swept all the categories, but others have come close. The list of near-winners includes Tazio Nuvolari, Mike Hawthrown, Phil Hill, AJ Foyt, Bruce McLaren, Jim Clark, Mario Andretti, and Emerson Fittipaldi. The only contenders still active are Montoya and Jacques Villeneuve, who won at Indy in '95, the F1 championship in '97, and came second at Le Mans in 2008. Villenueve could still steal the crown if he gets another shot at Le Mans, but the more likely scenario would be to see Montoya rise to the throne. Especially if this test session is any indication. Also driving the Porsche was in the rookie test session was Mitch Evans, a former GP3 champion and GP2 race winner from New Zealand.
Despite premium carmakers going downmarket, luxury auto sales stick at 10-11%
Thu, 16 Jan 2014According to research conducted by global information company IHS Automotive, the leporine birthing of new models by luxury manufacturers over the past six years hasn't increased their market share in the US. Even as car sales reached 15.6 million units, IHS says what's happened instead is that luxury buyers are merely moving from one brand to another, moving from larger luxury vehicles into hot segments like compact luxury crossovers or leaving the market at the same rate as other buyers enter.
Whether broken out by makes or by segment, market share has rollercoastered inside a narrow band from 10.5 to 11.5 percent since "at least" 2008. Closer investigation reveals the shifting boundaries in the aspirational pond, with brands like Mercedes-Benz and Audi gaining territory as Lexus and Lincoln lost it, and Saab and Hummer were buried, dead, under it. One neat note is that Tesla has gone from a share of zip to .12 percent.
The subcompact and compact crossover segments show growth, with those little high-riders jumping from .3 percent to 1.16 percent of overall industry sales. Their rise, though, is concomitant with the decline of four other segments: compact and midsize cars and fullsize cars and SUVs. We think the next few years that will tell if the small-car expansion can overcome the large-car retraction, with a phalanx of smaller offerings like the CLA only recently hitting the market and others like the GLA, Macan and Q1 doing so in the near future.
2015 Porsche Cayenne spotted with facelift
Wed, 03 Apr 2013Although it's only been a few years since the current Porsche Cayenne was introduced, Porsche seems to be working on a midcycle update for its big SUV possibly in time to welcome the smaller Macan. As seen in these recent spy shots, it looks like the Cayenne will be getting a minor face- and butt-lift, but it's hard to say what other changes are in store or when the updated model will hit showrooms.
Up front, expect the Cayenne's new face to resemble what was just revealed on the 2014 Panamera, and we could also see this SUV using some of the new engines introduced on the Panamera including the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 or maybe even the E-Hybrid model. We're guessing that the new Cayenne could debut sometime next year likely for the 2015 model year. In the meantime, check out the gallery of spy shots above.
