Here for auction is a 1975 Porsche 911S Targa. I bought this car 5 years ago in a somewhat neglected state. Since then I have had this car maintained at the most reputable Porsche shop in Tulsa, OK, Rennsport Werkstatt, sparing no expense when repairs were needed. The car received a full tune up when I bought it and has had another 10,000 mile tune up since then with oil changes every 3,000 miles. Always reliable. Never left me stranded. Plenty of new parts along the way including a recent replacing of the shift linkage bushing and throttle arm bushings at the last tune up. I had new tires put on when I first bought the car so they have a little over 10k miles on them now.

The car was originally blue and was painted silver at some point. The white passenger fender is an original replacement that I put on the car. The previous owner had left the car outside during an ice storm and a falling branch damaged the original fender. The black interior shows some wear for it's age. The only "missing" piece I am aware of are the under dash knee pads. I say "missing"  because this car, from what I am told, is a factory a/c car (not dealer a/c) I have a box from the previous owner that I was told contains all the a/c parts that he had removed due to the fact that he hit his knees on it. All these parts are included with the car.

There is some rust in the rear pan half I'm guessing due to a leaky Targa top at some point in the cars history. Also, there is visable rust around the rear window on the passenger side and some cancer bubbles in the drivers door. There is also slight hail damage on the hood and drivers fender. There is damage to the rocker on the passenger side behind the jack point. All these areas are pictured and the rubber trim removed to show damage on rocker has been re-installed.

The only mechanical issues I am aware of are that the car sometimes doesn't like to start when hot. I have heard this is a common issue on the early fuel injected cars. Also, it leaks a little oil like most 2.7L motors do.

I have enjoyed this car for 5 years! Sadly it is time for me to pass it on. Maybe you're a restoration shop looking for a project car for a customer or maybe you're like me and you love the unmistakable, timeless lines of the classic 911 but you can't afford a high end example of this ever increasing classic. This is the car for you! A maintained driver that looks good, sounds good and runs great! The impact bumper cars are coming into their own as the next generation of a collectible Porsche.

Along with the a/c parts mentioned this car comes with a very nice condition smiley face to replace the deteriorated one on the car and the matching white drivers fender with gas lid and some other 911 parts I have acquired. Also included is a car cover for the car.

My love for these cars is based on their appearance but please feel free to ask any questions you have and I will do my best to answer them.

NOTE: The license plate frame on the car although pictured is not included in the sale. Sorry.

Wandering the Chopard Heritage Tent at Rennsport Reunion V

Sun, Sep 27 2015

Porsche has a ton to celebrate at its Rennsport Reunion V being held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend. While some other luxury carmakers are hurting, Porsche sales are up. The 919 Hybrid won Le Mans in only its second year of competition, then came to America and won the World Endurance Championship race at Lone Star Le Mans in Austin, Texas the weekend before Rennsport Reunion. It just introduced its 2017 911 Carrera with a turbocharged engine for the first time ever for the line, and our initial impressions from the passenger's seat are that it's pretty good. And humor us while we have this out for the conspiracy theorists, but one can imagine some back-room celebrations since with Porsche Chairman Matthias Muller's promotion on Friday, September 26, Porsche completed its takeover of Volkswagen. Remember when that was a thing, when 16-year Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking tried to work the stock market to get control of VW but failed, so VW swallowed up Porsche instead? More concretely, around 50,000 people have come to the Reunion, and there are 1,400 Porsches parked in all the corrals. This year's event is devoted to Le Mans, with eight of the brand's 17 winners in attendance. We spent most of our time on the penultimate day in the Chopard Heritage Display, though, wandering through four rows of vintage machinery. The vehicles were even more instructive than they were beautiful - the Spyders, the RS editions, the Abarth-bodied racers, the company's first flat-eight race car, the 911 SCRS rally cars that led to the shows-topping 959, all help explain in metal what Porsche is referring to in its press releases and when it puts out special editions. They teach the history of personnel inside and outside of Porsche, too: like that Ferdinand Piech led the team that created the famous-on-sight 1968 917K at the same time as he was leading development of the Porsche 914; and that one of our own colleagues, the late Denise McCluggage, drove to victory in the 1957 Watkins Glen Grand Prix in a 1954 Porsche 550 Spyder 1500RS. There's a huge, captioned gallery above of just some of the wares parked in the Chopard Heritage Display. Have a look and a read, and the next time a Porsche rolls out a commemorative limited edition, one of these could be the car they're looking back at. Related Video:

Porsche takes 2016 Le Mans win on last lap, Ford grabs class victory

Sun, Jun 19 2016

So far, only one Japanese manufacturer has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. That carmaker was Mazda exactly 25 years ago with the legendary, rotary-engined 787B. This year, Toyota was amazingly close to winning with their TS 050 car, piloted by Kazuki Nakajima, and it all ended in tears on the last lap. The Toyota ran smoothly for almost 24 hours, but to lose power and stall on the pit straight with five minutes to go is nothing short of catastrophic. Still, the #5 car was able to be restarted and limped across the finish line for 45th place. Toyota's #6 car had its own set of issues, as the car gained bodywork damage and also veered off track in the hands of Kamui Kobayashi. Driven to second place, the Toyota #6 passed the finish line driven by Stephane Sarrazin. For Porsche, the win with the #2 919 Hybrid was the 18th constructor title at Le Mans 24 Hours. The car was driven by Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb, and it proved to be more reliable than the #1 919 with Timo Bernhard, Mark Webber and Brendon Hartley behind the wheel. The #2 Porsche and the #5 Toyota battled for the lead throughout the day. Had the Toyota not broken down, Audi would have missed a podium finish for the first time in 18 years - a great run was ruined this year by turbo trouble in the #7 R18 e-tron Quattro driven by Lotterer-Treluyer-Fassler, and the third place was taken by the #8 Audi with Lucas Di Grassi driving.
