THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION FOR AN AMAZINGLY WELL PRESERVED CLASSIC 1975 PORSCHE 911. THIS CAR IS IN WONDERFUL CONDITION INSIDE AND OUT.

The 911 can trace its roots back to sketches drawn by Ferdinand "Butzi" Porsche in 1959. The Porsche 911 classic was developed as a much more powerful, larger, more comfortable replacement for the Porsche 356, the company's first model. The new car made its public debut at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show (GermanInternationale Automobil-Ausstellung). The car presented at the auto show had a non-operational mockup of the 901 engine, receiving a working one in February 1964

It originally was designated as the "Porsche 901" (901 being its internal project number). 82 cars were built as 901s. However, Peugeot protested on the grounds that in France it had exclusive rights to car names formed by three numbers with a zero in the middle. So, instead of selling the new model with another name in France, Porsche changed the name to 911. Internally, the cars' part numbers carried on the prefix 901 for years. Production began in September 1964, the first 911s reached the US in February 1965 with a price tag of US$6,500, A clean well preserved 1964 will now fetch into the $100,000.00 range from true enthusiests.

Model year 1974 saw three significant changes. First, the engine size was increased to 2687 cc giving an increase in torque. Second, was the introduction of impact bumpers to conform with low-speed protection requirements of US law, these bumpers being so successfully integrated into the design that they remained unchanged for 15 years. Thirdly, the use of K-Jetronic CIS Bosch fuel injection in two of the three models in the line up— the 911 and 911S models, retaining the narrow rear arches of the old 2.4, now had a 2.7-liter engine producing 150 PS (110 kW; 150 hp) and 175 PS (129 kW; 173 hp), respectively

The 2.7 Carrera built for all markets, except for the United States, used the 210 PS (150 kW; 210 hp) RS-spec 911/83 engine with Bosch (Kugelfischer) MFI from the 1973 Carrera RS. These 2.7 Carrera MFI models were built from 1974 until 1976, including a special run of 20 Targas for the Belgian Gendarmerie. The Carrera built for the US market was powered by the same 2.7 liter engine as the 911S which produced 175 PS (129 kW; 173 hp).

In 1974 the Carrera was available with the ducktail from the Carrera RS. In the US market the ducktail was standard on the Carrera. For 1975 and 1976 model years the whaletail was available as an option on the Carrera. For 1976 the Carrera 2.7 was only available in Germany as a "sondermodell", or special model, with a total of 113 built with the 911/83 RS-spec engine Had essentially the Turbo's 2994 cc engine minus the turbocharger, and with K-Jetronic CIS now developed 200 PS (150 kW; 200 hp). Aluminium now replaced magnesium for the crankcase and gearbox housing

THIS PORSCHE  IS A VERY RARE CAR, AS IT CAME WITH FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING WHICH WAS AVAILABLE BY SPECIAL ORDER ONLY OTHER THAN A SMALL HANDFULL THAT WERE SENT TO THE U.S PRE EQUIPPED WITH A/C. THIS IS A WONDERFUL AUTOMOBILE TO DRIVE AND TURNS HEADS EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT ANYWHERE.

THE EXTERIOR PAINT IS IN VERY NICE CONDITION AND SHINES NICELY. ALL BODY LINES AND DOOR GAPS ARE PERFECT AND THE THERE IS NOT A DENT DING OR SCRATCH ON THE CAR.  I HAVE RECENTLY HAD THE CAR PROFESSIONALLY DETAILED AND IT IS NOW BEING KEPT IN MY GARAGE AND ONLY DRIVEN ON SUNDAY MORNINGS TO BREAKFAST I ACTUALLY TOOK MY 17 YEAR OLD SON AND 2 OF HIS CLASSMATES TO BREAKFAST IN THE PORSCHE LAST SUNDAY, IT WAS A TIGHT SQUEEZE BUT WE DID ALL FIT.

THE INTERIOR I AM ASSUMING IS ALL ORIGINAL OTHER THAN THE TOP OF THE DASH WHICH SEEMS TO BE NEW. THE CARPEST AND SEATS ARE IN GREAT CONDITION FOR THERE AGE AND THE FACE OF THE DASH IS ALSO IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. ALL OF THE LIGHTS AND GAUGES WORK AS THEY SHOULD AND THE SEATS ALSO ADJUST AS THEY SHOULD.

THE MOTOR FIRES UP PERFECT ON THE FIRST TURN OF THE KEY AND BEING THAT IT IS AN AIRCOOLED CAR IT DOES TAKE A FEW MOMENTS TO WARM UP WHICH IS NORMAL FOR ALL PORSCHES PRE 1988. IT IS RECOMMENDED BY PORSCHE THAT YOU LET THE CAR WARM UP AT LEAST 2 MINUTES BEFORE DIVING IN THE WINTER TIME. THE MOTOR RUNS EXCELLENT ON CITY STREETS AND ALSO PREFORMS WONDERFULLY ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR DOES LET A PUFF OF SMOKE OUT WHEN YOU FIRST START IT WHICH I HAVE NOT LOOKED INTO SINCE THE CAR RUNS SO WELL.

I HAVE HAD THIS CAR IN MY POSSESSION FOR A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AND HAVE REALLY ENJOYED THE WEEKEND DRIVES. I DO NOT PERSONALLY OWN THE CAR I AM SELLING IT FOR A LOCAL COMPANY THAT I DO BUSINESS WITH AND THEY HAVE CONTRACTED ME TO SELL THE CAR FOR THEM ON EBAY. IT IS NOT FOR SALE ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE ON EBAY AND IT WILL SELL TO THE HIGH BIDDER AS THERE IS NO RESERVE.  THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE ON THIS CAR HAS ME TEND TO BELIEVE THAT THE CAR WAS UPGRADED TO A 3.0 MOTOR WHICH CAME IN THE 77-83 MODELS. THAT WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE UPGRADE THAT ENTHUSIASTS WERE DOING IN THE MID TO LATE 1980'S THE DUCKTAIL REAR END WAS ALSO A POPULAR WAY OF CUSTOMIZING THIS CLASSIC PORSCHE.

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ANY QUESTIONS AT ALL ALSO FEEL FREE TO SET AN APPOINTMENT TO COME SEE THE CAR IN PERSON. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR LOOKING AND HAPPY BIDDING.

VW to pay $1B in settlement with US government over V6 diesels

Tue, Dec 20 2016

Volkswagen and the US government have come to a settlement for the civil claims against the automaker's 3.0-liter, diesel V6s. Over 83,000 V6 TDI-powered models are currently prowling US roads in violation of emissions laws. The settlement allows VW to recall over 75 percent of its cheating V6 diesels – about 63,000 units – and bring them into compliance. These represent newer VW Touaregs, Audi A6, A7, A8, Q5, and Q7s, and Porsche Cayennes built between 2013 and 2016. According to the company, the recall will bring these so-called Generation Two engines up to emissions specs, provided the EPA and CARB okay the modifications. Should the regulators say no to VW's tweaks, the company will buy back or terminate leases with the affected owners. For older V6 TDIs built between 2009 and 2012, Volkswagen will do broadly the same thing, only in reverse. It will lead with buy backs of older Touaregs and Q7s – the only vehicles the company sold with the earlier engines – but could offer fixes if EPA/CARB give the okay. As part of its agreement over the emissions-cheating V6s, Volkswagen will contribute $225 million to the "environmental remediation trust" it established as part of its settlement over cheating 2.0-liter TDIs. VW is also on the hook for $25 million with CARB, bringing the total for the six-cylinder part of its emissions cheating scandal to around $1 billion, Automotive News reports. This initial agreement still needs approval from US District Court Judge Charles Breyer. Related Video:

Porsche not responsible for Paul Walker and Roger Rodas crash

Tue, Apr 5 2016

A US District Court judge has found that Porsche wasn't responsible for the Carrera GT crash that killed Roger Rodas and actor Paul Walker, according to The Detroit News citing the Associated Press. Rodas' widow, Kristine, brought the lawsuit against the German automaker, but the court ruled there was a lack of evidence for her case. "Plaintiff has provided no competent evidence that Rodas' death occurred as a result of any wrongdoing on the part of defendant," US District Judge Philip S. Gutierrez ruled, according to the AP. Rodas' lawyer pledged to appeal the decision. Rodas' lawsuit asserted that the Carrera GT's right rear suspension failed and also cited the Porsche's lack of a proper fuel cell or a crash cage as factors. However, the judge didn't see any evidence for the suspension failure. He also criticized the expert for Rodas' side for analyzing tire marks from over a month after the crash rather than the photos from right after the incident, the AP reports. A 2014 investigation by the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department blamed unsafe speed as the fatal accident's cause. The investigators reported that the Carrera GT was doing between 80 and 93 miles per hour when the crash happened. They also found nothing mechanically wrong with the supercar but did discover that the tires were over nine years old. The LA County Coroner ruled that both deaths were accidents. According to the AP, the lawsuits from Walker's daughter and his father against Porsche are still pending in Los Angeles Superior Court, and the district court ruling doesn't affect them. In each case, Porsche denied being at fault and cited the sheriff's investigation as support for that argument. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Porsche launches classic racing program with restored 917k

Sat, Sep 26 2015

Porsches is launching a historic racing program to support private owners of its competition classics. The program will offer customers support restoring and repairing their racecars. It'll also help get vintage vehicles up to spec for modern safety equipment. The company is developing a network of trusted specialists, and will continue supplying spare parts and trackside technical assistance at major historic events. Porsche will also offer to store and maintain privately owned classic racers at its facilities – like the new Porsche Experience Center that's soon to open in Los Angeles – putting them on display for visitors to admire and even transporting them to and from the track for racing events. To highlight the newly enhanced program, Porsche is showcasing this restored 917K. This particular example, resplendent in iconic Gulf livery, won the thousand-kilometer race at Spa in 1971, and was entrusted a few years ago to Porsche Motorsport North America for restoration. It'll be participating in the Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca this weekend, but whether or not you'll be in Monterey for the event, you can check it out in the image gallery above. Restored Porsche 917K returns to US race track after 40 years Porsche provides new services for historic motorsport Stuttgart. Historic Porsche race cars represent many victories at the 24-hour classics of Le Mans and Daytona. And they also celebrated memorable successes at 1,000-kilometre events on storied circuits such as the Nurburgring and Spa-Francorchamps. To ensure that these vehicles can still be admired at race tracks today, Porsche now also offers customers a comprehensive service for historic motor racing in Germany and the USA. The priorities of the new business field are to restore vintage race cars as true to the original as possible as well as to repair and maintain them. "These vehicles have written motorsport history and have gained in value, at times markedly, in recent years," says Jens Walther, President & CEO of Porsche Motorsport North America in Santa Ana/California. "The historic motor racing scene has an extremely strong following in the USA, but many of these vehicles can also be seen on European race tracks. An increasing number of owners are now recognising how important it is for future gain that such vehicles undergo a true to original restoration." The figurehead for the new business service is the now completed restoration of a Porsche 917K.
