Beautiful, numbers matching 1973.5 Porsche 911T CIS Targa in Black over Black. The car has been well cared for over the years and it really shows. This is a sharp looking long-hood, I recently waxed the car and the black paint is like glass. There is no rust on the vehicle, and this is a really good example of the most desired versions of the long-hood 911.
The 2.4 engine with CIS fuel injection are original to the vehicle. The 911 starts right up every time, runs excellently, and has good power throughout the gears. The engine compartment on the vehicle is nice and tidy as the car has been well kept. There are no engine or fluid leaks which is common for early 911’s. The 915 transmission in the car shifts very well through the gears, and the car is currently fitted with a short-shift kit.
The interior of 911 is really nice and clean. Currently there are black cloth recaro seats in the car, but I have the original black vinyl seats which will be provided to the new owner. The car has great door panels, pockets, and door hardware. The car has a nice looking dash cover, but the original dash is cracked underneath. The cloth headliner for the Targa top is great condition and the sun visors in the car are also new. All the gauges work for the 911 with the exception of the clock. I recently fitted a Nardi steering wheel in the car, but the original steering wheel will be provided to the new owner with the purchase.
The undercarriage of the car is in good condition as the floor pans and rockers are very dry and original to the vehicle. There are no rust bubbles in the usual places such the doors corners, fenders, and below the windshield (see pictures). The vinyl targa top on the 911 is in really great condition with no aging or tears. All exterior moldings and seals are in good shape as well. Trim pieces (bright work) are nice and shine nicely without scratching. As previously mentioned the 73.5 Targa has really good paint with only a few minor rock chips from driving the vehicle.
The car is fitted with front and rear sway bars. Suspension bushings are in decent shape as the car does not squeak. The car originally came with 15x 6 (deep six) fuch wheels, the rims are still in good shape with all new Yokohama tires (including the spare). The brake rotors were recently resurfaced, along with adding new brake pads. I also recently replaced the two interstate batteries in the vehicle. The 911 Targa currently sports European H4 headlamps, however I do have the original US sugar scoop assemblies and hardware which will come with the car.
Per the COA on the car, the engine and the transmission are original to the car. The original colors for the car were brown over brown. Along with the COA, I will provide the owner’s manual, bilstein jack, and tool kit for the vehicle to the new owner.

Vintage-ish Porsche 911 buying guide
Tue, Jul 21 2015Harry Metcalfe is always great at showing viewers the intricate details of the vehicles in his collection as part of the Harry's Garage series. This time he's helping out future buyers by explaining what to look for when purchasing a classic and slightly more modern Porsche 911. His examples for this lesson are two absolute beauties that are about to cross the block from Silverstone Auctions in the UK: a 1972 2.4 S and a 1991 964-chassis RS Clubsport. The '72 in creamy white here epitomizes the look of early 911s. The coupe is handsome, purposeful, and fairly compact by modern standards. According to Metcalfe, when looking at one, don't worry about a wobbly gearshift. Apparently, they're all like that, even ones as well cared for as this example. As with any used car purchase, he recommends trying to get as many service records as you can. It's just good to know as much about the vehicle's life as possible before throwing down any cash. Where the '72 911 shows the more gentlemanly side of the brand, the '91 RS Clubsport is Porsche proving the company's performance credentials. Metcalfe slightly dings the switch to an aftermarket air filter here, but overall it's hard to find a major fault. These cars were essentially road-going racers in this trim. The engineers in Zuffenhausen chopped out as much weight as possible and then fitted Recaro racing buckets and a roll cage. This thing was meant clock as many laps around the 'Ring as the driver could stand.
Vintage 911 sacrificed in the name of fashion
Fri, Jul 31 2015People routinely suffer in the name of looking good, whether through a pair of uncomfortable, stylish shoes or a nice shirt that doesn't breathe in the summer heat. Rarely is a vintage sports car the recipient of this sartorial pain, though. In a bizarre, short video from the fashion label Rag & Bone, an old Porsche 911 is the one taking all of the damage in the name of being chic. And it's really painful to watch. Give this video a few seconds to get going because it starts very weird (fashion!). Black smoke billows up through a hole in a harshly lit white room, and a woman keeps switching outfits. If the attempt at being artsy isn't painful enough, things get really traumatic for Porsche fans once the 911 appears on screen. Seeing a classic car get destroyed hasn't been this harrowing since the government publicly destroyed an illegally imported, classic Mini last winter. Thankfully, this 911 was reportedly just a shell, according to Jalopnik. Although even if that's the case, the body looks to be in great shape, and from the tiny glimpse through the windows, the interior even looks largely intact. This coupe might have been a pretty good restoration candidate if not for the massive hunk of concrete crashing through the roof to make a fashion video.
Performance cars old and new are headed to auction at Las Vegas Grand Prix
Fri, Nov 10 2023Auction house RM Sotheby's is hosting a sale ahead of the 2023 Las Vegas Formula One Grand Prix, and most of the lots that will cross the block were designed with performance in mind. Whether you want a supercar or a Formula One car, there's a chance you'll find it in Sin City. One of the highlights from the sale in terms of rarity and price is the Mercedes-AMG Petronas W04 that Lewis Hamilton drove in the 2013 F1 season. Assigned chassis number F1W04-04, it's the team's last car powered by a naturally-aspirated V8 engine, and you're on the wrong track if you're thinking of the 4.0-liter unit that powers AMG's road cars. The engine in question is a 2.4-liter unit that develops 750 horsepower and is capable of revving to a screaming 18,000 rpm. The KERS system injects 80 additional horses into the driveline. Hamilton drove F1W04-04 in 14 of the 2013 season's 19 races, and he won that year's Hungarian Grand Prix in the car. RM Sotheby's notes that F1W04-04 is "the sole example to be sold outside of the Mercedes-Benz organization," which explains why it expects the car will sell for anywhere between $10 million and $15 million excluding the buyer's fee and a 2.5% import duty that applies to American residents. That's a lot of money, but modern Formula One cars rarely come up for sale. Several other cars are expected to sell above the $1 million mark, including a 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR ($8 million to $9 million), a 1988 Porsche 959 Komfort ($1,650,000 to $1,850,000), and a 1996 Bugatti EB110 Super Sport ($2,500,000 to $3,250,000). The 1990 Ferrari F40 GT (one of 21 units built) could bring up to $4 million. You can take home a rare, high-end classic even if you cap your budget at $1 million. How about a 1984 Lamborghini Countach 5000 S that was delivered new to Ralph Lauren and that has been in the hands of its second owner since 1986? RM expects the coupe will sell for up to $900,000. The auction house is also giving enthusiasts two distinctly different ways to spend a six-digit sum on a 30-something-year-old Mercedes-Benz. There's a 1990 190E 2.5-16 Evolution with about 3,400 original miles that could fetch up to $700,000. That's a lot to pay for a W201, but this isn't a run-of-the-mill Baby Benz: It's one of 502 examples built for homologation purposes. Alternatively, the 1989 560SEC AMG 6.0 Wide-Body could sell for up to $900,000. It's one of the most emblematic cars designed by AMG before it joined Mercedes-Benz.
