1963 Porsche 356 on 2040-cars

I purchased this 356B T-6 two years ago from the second owner. The car was purchased in San Diego California by the original owner and has been in California for most of its life with the exception of 2 years when it was garaged in Chicago while the owner was stationed overseas. It was a dealer demo car that was ordered in Bali Blue/Red Leatherette (this was not a factory combo). The car retains its original transmission #60849 and I have the original engine #609975 though it is not in the car (it will not turn over but it is complete except for fly wheel and belly tin). Currently the car has a Super 90 #705726 that runs beautifully. I have driven the car for the last two years on 500+ mile rallies and several club drives as well as normal driving around town with zero problems. The original owner drove the car regularly and converted the car to a split 6/12 volt system it retains that system and is trouble free. The only item on the car that I have found that doesn't work is the tachometer (cable needs to be replaced), it does not have the original radio, tool kit or dash pad. I have some paperwork on the car that I found when I was going through the car that will come with it.
This is an unrestored car that is VERY RUST FREE, the only two spots I have found are surface rust on the rear side windows that's it. The pan and and all underneath are very solid, the car would be a great restoration candidate or preservation class with some work on the seats. The headliner is in good condition and the door panels and rear seats are good considering the age, all chrome trim pieces are in good shape no pitting or anything, the cover for the trunk is original and in very good condition and it has the original jack, the original rubber floor mat is in the car. The original wheels and caps are also on the car and 3 are date stamped 10/62 and 2 are stamped 8/62 and I just put new tires on the car. At some point the front of the car was painted (looks like a minor accident as there is no signs of damage other than the respray that is aging-see photos). I believe that the roof, rear and the doors retain their factory paint (with the exception of 1/2 the driver's side door - see photo). I have the COA from Porsche North America and please note this comes with both engines so please consider that in your shipping costs. If you only want the original engine I can put it in the car but you must let me know in advance and we can work something out on the cost. I will deliver it to the port of Oakland, California USA if my reserve is met but the buyer is responsible for ALL shipping costs. These unrestored rust free cars are getting harder to find and I have tried to describe as accurately as I can but if here is something you would like to know email me and I get back to you. |

Russian President Putin's new limo makes debut ahead of 2017 production
Tue, Apr 5 2016What's the best way to ignore an international money-laundering scandal that's allegedly revealed your link to $2 billion in off-shore accounts? Why yes, you get a new car. While information from the so-called Panama Papers is still being uncovered, Russian President Vladimir Putin's new Russian-made ride has been unveiled. Unlike US President Barack Obama's Cadillac-badged Beast, Putin's Kortezh will be available to any Russian that has the means. A total of 5,000 will be built in four different styles – limo, sedan, SUV, and minivan – although only 200 will roll off production lines next year, Sputnik News reports. Deliveries are expected to start in late 2017, while assembly will carry on through 2020, the Moscow Times reports. Commerce and Industry Minister Denis Mantrurov confirmed that Porsche has been brought in to help develop the Kortezh's powertrain. Whether that engine ends up being the turbocharged V12 we reported on way back in October 2014 isn't clear, though. Regardless of what's sitting under that long hood, we're betting it's going to be extremely powerful. Putin will likely take delivery of the Kortezh in 2017. Related Video:
Porsche releases new images of LMP1 racecar
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Porsche has released another batch of images of its LMP1 competitor preparing for its debut season in 2014. This isn't the first we've seen of the new car, as June saw four images of the new racer undergoing testing. Where those images looked merely like someone taking pics during the test, the 11 new images seen above have all the hallmarks of highly polished PR shots.
That aside, the camo-covered cars still provide another look at what the new LMP1 car will look like when it arrives next season. The taillights follow the example set by Audi, by vertically mounting ultra-thin LEDs on the tips of the rear wing, while the LED headlights sport the four-prong look that Porsche has been pushing of late. Besides those two items, its difficult to make out many details due to the amount of camo.
Porsche's LMP1 effort will be focused on the FIA World Endurance Championship, which will see the revered brand return to the top flights of the 24 Hours Of Le Mans with F1 ace Mark Webber behind the wheel. As we've mentioned before, the German brand has set up a dedicated microsite that will cover its newest racer's progress.
Roger Rodas' Widow Suing Porsche Over Carrera GT Crash
Tue, May 13 2014Investigations undertaken by local law enforcement may have vindicated Porsche from any wrongdoing in the crash that killed actor Paul Walker and racing driver Roger Rodas last year, but the latter's widow is apparently not convinced. According to emerging reports, Kristine Rodas has filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from Porsche Cars North America. In her suit filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, Rodas' attorney Mark Geragos reportedly disputes the findings of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which asserted that the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed of 90 miles per hour on city streets, identifying the speed as the cause of the accident. Instead the lawsuit claims that the vehicle was only going 55 mph and that the cause of the crash was improper equipment – namely a faulty right rear suspension and the lack of a crash cage and proper fuel tank. "The Carrera GT was unsafe for its intended use by reason of defects in its manufacture, design, testing, component and constituents, so that it would not safely serve its purpose," according to the specifics of the suit obtained by the Los Angeles Times. When reached for comment, Porsche Cars North America spokesman Nick Twork told Autoblog: We are very sorry for the Rodas and Walker family's loss. The crash was the subject of a detailed investigation by the proper authorities (L.A. County Sheriff and California Highway Patrol), and their investigation disproves the allegations in the lawsuit. The investigation found that driving at a high speed in a negligent manner caused the crash and concluded that there was no mechanical defect. The Carrera GT is known as a difficult car to drive. As the LA Times report points out, Jay Leno spun one at Talladega in 2005, and the following year, Porsche paid part of a multi-million-dollar settlement after two were killed on a track when their Carrera GT struck a slower-moving Ferrari. The Rodas lawsuit could very well point to that previous suit from San Diego Superior Court. Whether the court in LA will hand down a similar ruling remains to be seen.
