1961 Porsche 356 1600 on 2040-cars
Willimantic, Connecticut, United States
More infos regarding my cat at: crystalckkracke@ukpub.net . Matching-numbers 1961 Porsche 356 coupe in great running condition. This is a well-sorted, turn-key car. I've given
it a mild "outlaw" look but all the correct, original parts are included in the sale if the buyer would like to put
back to a "stock" appearance.
This car contains almost all of it's original components including the original spare tire and rim (as noted on the
car's Certificate of Authenticity it is a Firestone Phoenix tire that appears to be unused). The car was originally
Fjord Green and was repainted red/orange prior to my purchase - the paint presents very well.
I am a long time Porsche 356 enthusiast and went through this car thoroughly.
All body panels including trunk lid, doors and engine lid are original and numbers-stamped with last 3 digits of
VIN (848).
Almost all date-stamped components are also correct and date-matching including the gas tank, original spare rim,
Bosch coil, VDO gas gauge float, starter, and voltage regulator (generator is dated 1963).
The engine compartment retains it's unique (1961) and correct firewall insulation.
The engine was rebuilt prior to my purchase, and runs excellently. Upgrades I discovered were big bore pistons and
cylinders and an aluminum oil cooler. A compression test showed good compression between 120-135.
Major recent work includes rust repair using correct metal replacement panels to the battery box floor (the tow
hook was replaced at this time), rear doglegs and closing panels behind rear longitudinal on driver's side. The
underside has also been coated with Wurth product.
I've also installed a beautiful Sebring style exhaust made by Karmann Konnection in the UK. The unit was
bead-blasted and coated in off-white prior to installation and has less that 200 miles on it since installed.
I also had much more work done and many more items restored or replaced (too many to list but I have all receipts
and will include in sale), including:
Gas tank was removed, sealed with Red Kote and repainted with 2 stage epoxy (original style felt strips
underneath tank and under straps)
Original fuel petcock rebuilt
Trunk compartment detailed/painted, new rubber mat, tire strap bracket, tank hoses and ground strap
Generator rebuilt/voltage regulator tested and calibrated
Starter rebuilt
Distributor rebuilt and detailed
Horns rebuilt and refinished
New Boge steering damper
New Dunlop tires (with period-style stencils) and 4 wheel alignment
New battery/NOS battery cover
Engine components refinished correctly/with correct decals
New bulbs throughout; headlights, interior dome lights, turn signals, license plate lights
Rear vinyl interior panel restored
Period "Moto Lita" steering wheel with vintage Porsche crest horn button
Original components included in the sale are; original steering wheel, rear bumperettes with funnels and horn
grills. All in very good to excellent condition.

Chris Harris brings together the 918 Spyder, LaFerrari, and P1
Sat, Nov 21 2015The Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari, and McLaren P1 show that a hybrid powertrain can make for blistering performance despite its electric assist. This trio doesn't arrive on track together very often, but Chris Harris assembled these three stars at the Portimao circuit for a nearly hour-long demonstration of their amazing capabilities. So, which one is quickest around the track? Harris provides an answer with in-car video of all three contenders. His team also goes out of its way to even the playing field by sourcing tires independently from Pirelli for the P1 and LaFerrari. With the technical part out of the way, Harris can start having fun by doing his usual slides during the driving comparison. Tiff Needell and Marino Franchitti also eventually show up to provide the perfect recipe for a track battle in these hypercars. If you don't have the time, skip about 14:25 into the clip just to see the lap times. However, those numbers only tell a tiny part of the story. The whole video is definitely worth a watch.
Porsche forum claims eco-friendly 911 Blu coming to Frankfurt
Thu, 01 Aug 2013The fiftieth anniversary of the Porsche 911 has been a nearly year-long affair, with unique tributes and even a special anniversary edition with plenty of retro throwbacks. The party is expected to continue through the end of 2013, and if one 911 enthusiast forum is right, we'll see yet another special edition model near the anniversary of the original car's September 1963 debut, when it arrives at next month's Frankfurt Auto Show.
It's called the 911 Blu, and where the 911 50 Years Edition was more expensive than a 911 Carrera S hardtop, the Blu would be an entry level special edition. That's right, a limited run car that actually slots in at the very bottom of the 911 range. According to Porsche forum 911UK.com, the new car would be priced at 74,600 euros ($98,718 at today's rates) or 64,750 pounds. That undercuts the price of a base 911 in Germany by nearly 16,000 euros and in the UK by nearly 8700 pounds (although to be fair, it's roughly identical to the price of a base 911 C2S in the US).
This 911 will reportedly feature a detuned flat-six with 300 horsepower and 211 pound-feet of torque.
The Rolls-Royce Phantom leads this month's list of discounts
Wed, Jun 16 2021Every month, we take a look at vehicle sales data in America to pick out the vehicles with the largest monetary discount. Usually, the list is dominated by high-performance two-door luxury sports cars. This month is different. Much to our surprise, the 2020 Rolls-Royce Phantom stands above all others with an average discount of $18,588 off the price quoted on its window sticker. Now, it bears mentioning that an $18,000-plus discount still only represents 3.46% of its $537,500 average retail price, and that the resulting $518,912 cost to drive off the showroom floor still makes the Phantom an extremely expensive range-topping luxury sedan. Still, even very wealthy people won't snicker at that kind of savings. Up next is another unlikely newcomer to the biggest-discount chart: the 2020 Porsche Taycan. The electric super sedan's average sticker price of $152,250 is cut to $135,707 after a discount of $16,453 is lopped off. That represents a savings of nearly 11%. We can't say how many of the Taycan's buyers over the last month will be able to claim tax rebates due to the Taycan's status as an electric vehicle, but that could potentially represent a further cut off the car's sticker. Rounding out the top three is the 2020 Maserati Quattroporte. Buyers of this Italian luxury sedan are saving an average of $13,839 for an average transaction price of $87,646. We normally only share the top three, but this month's list is interesting enough that we'll share some more. In fourth and fifth place are the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class (with an average $13,239 discount) and the 2021 BMW 7 Series (with an average $12,435 discount) followed by the 2020 Rolls-Royce Wraith — interestingly enough also with a savings of 3.46% — and the 2020 Maserati Levante and Ghibli.
