I am selling this car at no reserve because it has developed a knock. I took it to NAPA's garage and they said it could be spark knock or main bearing failure. It shows good oil pressure so I'm not sure what's going on. I am moving and don't have room at my new house to take an engine out if need be so I'm cutting my losses and selling it as is. I purchased it for $5,800 and it was driving strong with no problems but I took it three blocks from my house two weeks ago and it started knocking. The 400 engine was rebuilt by the previous owner as was the 400 tranny and a shift kit was installed. It has positraction rear and power steering/brakes. It has a brand new Holley 4160 aluminum carburator and electric fuel pump. The body is extremely straight and is nearly rust free with surface rust bubbling on the bottom of the wheelwell (see pic.) There are a couple paint chips that were repaired by the previous owner. The frame is also in great shape and only shows surface rust also. Original Rally rims are in excellent shape with like new Cooper tires all around. Interior is in great condition with NO dash cracks and it retains the original mahogany wood on the console and dash(only year for this, next came decals.) The seats are worn and ripped in a few places but the cushions and springs are still in excellent condition. It has new sway bar bushings and shocks are like new,it drives down the road straight, handles and stops like it should.I hate like hell to let such a clean example go but I can't keep it if my wife's gonna scream at me everytime she sees it. You can email me with any questions and I'll try to answer asap. Or you can call my home(309)444-9712 or my cell(702)576-6141. You're more than welcome to come check it out but obviously it will need to be trailered. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Motorweek looks back at the Pontiac Aztek
Thu, Jul 9 2015The Pontiac Aztek has earned a position as this generation's ultimate, automotive punchline. Even other execrable models like the Yugo or Mustang II probably get more respect these days just out of their sheer quirkiness, but the Aztek remains a joke. Fortify your mind for what's coming, though, because the much-maligned Pontiac might not be quite so atrocious, at least according to MotorWeek's latest Retro Review video. MotorWeek calls the Aztek, "GM's first true crossover vehicle," and it's amazing to think of the hated model as a progenitor of one of the most popular segments today. While admitting that the looks are polarizing, John Davis and company actually come away pleased with the Aztek's utility. They praise that there's a ton of room in the back, and the interior is packed with useful features like a removable cooler in the center console and radio controls in a cargo area. The show is even impressed with how the Pontiac drives and throws around accolades like "nimble" and "pleasant." After seeing the Aztek leading the pack on lists of the worst vehicles of all time for years, listening to it get such effusive praise is actually quite jarring. Could we all be so wrong? No, there's absolutely no debate that this is still a hideous automobile. However, MotorWeek asserts a complete reversal of the generally perceived wisdom about the early CUV. While unexpected, thinking about such an abhorred model in a different way is a cool experience. Check out the video for a different take on the Aztek.
1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction
Mon, 01 Aug 2011For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
GM expands headlight recall to 180k Buicks and Pontiacs
Thu, Aug 20 2015General Motors is issuing an expanded headlight module recall to include 180,504 examples in North America of the 2005 Buick LaCrosse (2008 model year pictured above) and 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Specifically, the campaign affects 159,584 of them in the US and 20,920 in Canada. When the part fails, the vehicles' low beams can stop working either intermittently or permanently. "GM is unable to confirm any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition," the company said in a statement, and there's currently no permanent repair for the problem. For now, dealers will replace the headlamp module with a new example of the same part. The automaker first announced this campaign in November 2014 when it affected 316,357 examples globally of the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse; 2006-2007 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X; and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender.
