1966 Pontiac LeMans

Engine/ Drivetrain: Original 326 engine was recently replaced with a factory correct 326 from a 1967 Lemans. Engine was reported to have driven 77K miles and still runs good, car was recently driven around with out incident or concern. Engine is equipped with an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, Edelbrock 4 Barrel 650 cfm Carburetor, and high output exhaust manifolds with functional side pipes. Original transmission shifts and drives as should with a minor leak near rear of trans. Transmission leak can only be seen after sitting for long periods of time when residue was seen on asphalt. Original radiator has been replaced with an oversized 4-row radiator. Also, distributor has been upgraded to a MSD. As original gauges begun to show signs of wear, aftermarket oil pressure and coolant temp gauges were installed along with an auto meter tachometer.

Exterior/ Interior:  Body is sold with very minor spots of rust in driver side door well and small spots near hood hinges. Small spots of surface rust can be seen in trunk bed, however trunk was replaced several years ago and still remains solid. Frame rails and body panels are solid as seen in attached pictures. All windows roll up and down as should. Car was repainted several years ago. Carpet and particular trim pieces have been replaced. Particular pieces of weather stripping and interior panel dressing has begun to come loose and should be replaced. Seats/ replaced headliner show some signs of wear as some tears/ holes can be seen. Also, vinyl roof has been replaced and is in good condition. Wheels have also been replaced with Cragar rims. Tires still remain with lots of tread left.

Brakes: 4- Wheel drum brakes.

Areas to be addressed: As car was recently driven it was found to be lacking in normal braking ability. The wheel cylinders have begun seeping and vehicle pulls to the right when coming to a stop.  Car can be driven and stops, but will require further inspection and brake  service to pass inspection which recently expired a month ago. Paint is overall good condition with one of two small scratches. Dent in hood can be seen in attached picture when an incorrectly installed air cleaner hit underside when closed. Not that noticeable but being honest.

Car was purchased used 13 years ago and has been garaged kept and maintained away from snow/ rain. Car has been lightly driven in parades/ cruise nights. No long distance driving has really been done but car turns heads and is a joy to drive. Only selling because of new interests and needs for garage space.

All sales are final and buyer assumes responsibility for shipping/ pick- up costs and arrangements.    Thanks - Don

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.

Junkyard Gem: 2007 Pontiac G6 GT Convertible

Sun, Jan 8 2023

GM's Pontiac Division sold its first convertibles during the 1927 model year (just a year after the division's creation), then proceeded to offer memorable drop-tops for most of the following 83 years. The best-selling convertible to bear Pontiac badges during our current century was the retractable-hardtop-equipped G6, available from the G6's introduction in 2006 through the second-to-last model year of 2009 (the Sunfire convertible was available just through 2000, while the Firebird convertible vanished with the demise of the slow-selling Firebird itself after 2002). Here's one of those G6 GT convertibles, found in a Denver-region boneyard after a crash ended its driving career. Mashed right front, popped airbags. This sort of damage might have been worth repairing in 2009, but not today. The 2007 G6 was available as a coupe, sedan, or convertible. All the convertibles had the GT trim level and the 3.5-liter V6 and its 224 horsepower. The MSRP on this car was $28,750 (about $42,325 in 2022 dollars), making it the most expensive G6. The power hardtop roof folded up into the trunk, leaving 1.8 cubic feet of trunk storage space with the top down. This Karmann-designed roof system made the interior much quieter than that of a traditional soft-top convertible. All G6s were built at Orion Assembly in Michigan, where Chevy Bolts are born today. The G6 was built through the 2010 model year, making it one of the very last Pontiac models (the Vibe also made it to 2010, though it was really a Toyota Matrix). In hindsight, 2007 turned out to be an ominous year for GM.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
