BEAUTIFUL 1965

PONTIAC

GTO

CONVERTIBLE

TRIBUTE

Pictured for sale is a beautiful and detailed tribute convertible of a 1965 Pontiac GTO with a rebuilt 1971 Pontiac 400 c.i. engine.  Car started its transformation from Tempest to a GTO in the late 1980’s and was completed with the current owner in the mid-1990’s (see photos at body shop).  Since its completion the Pontiac has been driven only 40,000 miles, never driven in bad weather, and always garaged.  Owners have receipts for all work which was ever performed on the car.

SPECIFICATIONS;

Body:  1965 GTO (tribute) was painted a (DuPont) Ford Twilight Blue with a new white convertible top with a Plexiglas rear window. Landau cover matches the interior (see photo).  All of the chrome is in good condition.  There are some pits in the tail lights, all of the other pieces are VG.  There is no rust coming through the body on this car and the paint is approximately 20 years old. Unfortunately, a few scratches developed over the years (see photos).  All of the glass is perfect. This car has never been abused or in an accident.

Engine:  1971 Pontiac 400 was rebuilt in 1994 to stock specs with a Rochester 750 Quadrajet and a mild Pontiac performance cam.  GTO still retains the original style “points” ignition. Oversized radiator was added to keep the car running cool.  Items recently replaced include the gas tank, fuel lines, battery, and starter.

Transmission:  1971; stock 3-speed automatic, 350 Turbo Hydramatic .  Transmission was rebuilt at the same time as the engine.

Rear Differential and suspension; Original 1965 Pontiac 10 bolt “open” rear with 3:23 gears.  New front sway bar, bushings, and ball joints.  Power drum brakes have less than 10,000 miles since being replaced and rebuilt.

Interior:  Complete restoration, including the door panels, seat covers, and carpeting.  Original dash was maintained with all working gauges. Additions include; the Pontiac vacuum gauge on the console, aftermarket oil pressure, temperature, and volt meter. In dash/original style AM-FM radio & cassette player, power antenna, and clock all work too.

Tires and Wheels;  14” Pontiac “rally” wheels custom painted (including the spare) to match the white and blue exterior.  Tires are by Dunlop with 205 70SR 14 up front and 245 60SR 14 in the rear.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM LISTING THIS GTO TRIBUTE FOR A FRIEND.  DIRECT ALL QUESTIONS TO ME VIA EMAIL (jkurzmann@yahoo.com) OR BY CELL PHONE @ 410-937-0719.  A VIDEO OF THE CAR IS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.

GM expands headlight recall to 180k Buicks and Pontiacs

Thu, Aug 20 2015

General Motors is issuing an expanded headlight module recall to include 180,504 examples in North America of the 2005 Buick LaCrosse (2008 model year pictured above) and 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Specifically, the campaign affects 159,584 of them in the US and 20,920 in Canada. When the part fails, the vehicles' low beams can stop working either intermittently or permanently. "GM is unable to confirm any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition," the company said in a statement, and there's currently no permanent repair for the problem. For now, dealers will replace the headlamp module with a new example of the same part. The automaker first announced this campaign in November 2014 when it affected 316,357 examples globally of the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse; 2006-2007 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X; and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender. Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
