Up for auction is a 2006 Pontiac GTO. It is a 6.0L, 6 speed manual, impulse blue metallic with 52,467 miles. It has 18 inch wheels and the matching blue leather interior. Performance Extras: Cam, Vararam cold air intake, Pacesetter long tube headers with catless mids and x pipe, DMH low profile electric cutouts, twin disc clutch, Hurst competition plus shifter, BMR drag bags. Appearance Extras: West Coast Speed SAP grilles, clear front marker lights, light smoke Headlight Armour on headlights/fog lights/marker lights, Maverick Man carbon fiber rear diffuser and rear license plate frame, interior LED swap to blue/white, Auxiliary input added to stock 6 disc changer I have owned the car for 3 years and put 7500 miles on it without any problems. All of the mechanical work was done to the car when I purchased it. The only thing I have done to it was put a new battery in it last year, the interior led swap, and the carbon fiber parts. I have averaged 18 mpg in town and 24 on the highway with the cruise on 70 and the ac on. Cons: The tops of the rear seats have the typical GTO seam splitting. The hood and bumper were repainted last summer due to some light paint chips from debris coming off a semi truck in front of me. No parts were replaced and no body work was needed. The hood and front bumper were sanded down and repainted and this is when the West Coast Speed grilles were added. I still have the original undamaged grilles and will leave them with the car. The pic of the engine bay shows the original grilles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3PkakPFmmY&feature=player_detailpage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c_pxMUZSx4&feature=player_detailpage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2S52ZwMJD8&feature=player_detailpage The car is financed through Chase bank. One of Burt Reynolds' favorite cars could be yours
Fri, Apr 12 2019LOS ANGELES — One of Burt Reynolds' favorite cars is going up for auction in June along with some of his cowboy boots, hats, sports jackets and other items from his estate, Julien's Auctions said on Friday. The two-day auction in Beverly Hills, authorized by the actor's family, comes almost a year after the death at age 82 of the charming star who was one of Hollywood's favorite actors. The highlight of the auction is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am car that Reynolds used on photo shoots and drove on the Bandit Run cross country rally, which re-enacts the journey at the center of his 1977 film "Smokey and the Bandit." The car, which Reynolds co-owned with his business partner Gene Kennedy, is expected to fetch up to $500,000 at auction, Julien's said in a statement. Two pairs of leather cowboy boots — one red and one yellow — are also offered for sale with estimates ranging from $800 to $2,000 a pair, along with two cowboy hats. Reynolds started out as a football player at Florida State University (FSU) before injuries suffered in a car crash wrecked his hopes of a professional career. But his attachment to FSU remained strong. The auction includes several custom or personalized FSU baseball, basketball and varsity jackets. Other highlights include an oil on canvas painting of the actor's favorite horse titled "Cartouche," which carries an estimate of $20,000 - $30,000. Other art works, furniture and dozens of personal items are also being offered for sale. The auction will take place in Beverly Hills on June 15 and 16, and will be preceded by a public exhibition of some of the items from June 10-14. Reynolds, who was also known for the 1960s television series "Gunsmoke" and the movies "Deliverance" and "Boogie Nights,"" died of a heart attack in Florida in September 2018. Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
General Motors Recalls Nearly 780,000 Cars To Fix Deadly Problem
Thu, Feb 13 2014General Motors is recalling nearly 780,000 compact cars in North America because the engines can shut down unexpectedly and cause crashes. The company says six people have been killed in crashes related to the problem. The recall affects Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5s from the 2005 through 2007 model years. U.S. safety regulators say the weight of the key ring and rough roads can move the ignition switch out of the run position, cutting the engine and electricity. If that happens, air bags may not work. GM says there have been 22 crashes from the problem. All happened at high speeds. Dealers will replace the ignition switch for free. GM says owners should remove nonessential items from key rings until the problem is fixed.
