Engine:

Two 57mm polished turbonetics turbos, custom fabricated headers. Each header has a turbonetics wastgate. The wastgate dump tubes exhaust under the front of the car. All cold pipes are aluminum, and it has a turbonetics blowoff valve, and intecooler. The injectors are 65 pound per hour, and fed from a Walbro 400lph in tank pump and an MSD boost a pump to raise fuel pump voltage on rise of boost. It has a Moroso catch can to vent the crank case. The engine internals are all factory except for ARP rod bolts to handle more boost. The tuners a diablo trinity which is a touch screen monitor that can stay in the car and be used as gauges as well as a scan tool. Many different tunes can be loaded into the tuner and changed in seconds by the touch of a button. Currently there is only one tune. It is set up for 93 octane pump gas and 7 Pounds of boost with very little timing. Some tuners say that E-85 pump gas makes for a better tune. The car runs very well and is very dependable on the current tune, so I didn't see any reason to change it. The exhaust is full duel SLP exhaust with mufflers but no cats. It is not much louder than stock exhaust. The transmission is a turbo 400 with shift kit and a 3000 rpm Yank stall converter. The drive shaft is a carbon fiber shaft with aluminum yokes. The suspension is all stock. The tires have around 80% tread left , but are starting to dry rot.

Interior:
The interior is in near perfect condition. The only thing that is not original is the Pioneer DVD /CD player with touch screen navigation. It looks like factory navigation.

Exterior:
The paint is in great shape, and is all original. There is a small ding in the drivers side rear quarter panel, and the plastic door handle inserts need some touch up.

Other:
When I originally put the turbo setup together, I wrapped all of the hot pipes with header wrap. Over last winter I had all of the hot pipes ceramic coated and polished. When I put the headers back on I used fel-pro header gaskets and they leak a little bit. When I originally put the headers on I used factory GM manifold gaskets and had no leaks.
The car appears stock, and sounds stock, and still has air conditioning.
On the current tune the car made 543HP and 610 ft lbs of TQ. This is very safe and dependable. The current fuel system is capable of 750Hp , and the turbos are capable of over 1000HP.

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.

Woman Cleared In Fatal Car Wreck After GM Letter

Tue, Nov 25 2014

A Texas judge cleared a woman Monday for a car accident that killed her fiance in 2004, after General Motors acknowledged that her car would have been among millions being recalled for a problem that may have contributed to the death. Candice Anderson was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion when it suddenly veered off a road about 60 miles east of Dallas and slammed into a tree. Anderson, then 21, was severely injured when the car's air bags failed to deploy. Her 25-year-old fiance, Gene Erikson, who was a passenger, was killed. She later pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the wreck. But during a hearing Monday, State District Judge Teresa Drum expunged the conviction from her record, according to officials in the Van Zandt County court andAnderson's attorney, Bob Hilliard. In a letter given to the court ahead of the hearing, an attorney for the automaker confirmed that Anderson's Saturn would have been among 2.6 million GM vehicles recalled in February to address ignition switches that can slip out of the "run" position, causing the engines to stall and disabling power steering, brakes and air bags. Anderson's crash "is one in which the recall condition may have caused or contributed to the frontal air bag non-deployment in the accident," attorney Richard C. Godfrey wrote. Hilliard provided a copy of the letter to The Associated Press, and Godfrey confirmed its contents Monday. Anderson was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide because there was no clear explanation at the time why the wreck occurred, according to court documents from the case. She pleaded guilty to a letter charge in 2006, and was sentenced to five years' probation. She also was ordered to perform 260 hours of community service, pay court costs and cover the costs of Erikson's funeral. "GM knew this defect caused this death, yet instead of telling the truth watched silently as Candice was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter," Hilliard said Monday. "It took 10 years for GM to find its voice." In a separate statement issued by the company, GM said it "cooperated fully by providing technical information that was requested to make a decision in this matter." The carmaker also said the issue in Anderson's case was for local law enforcement and courts to consider. "That's why we took a neutral position on Ms. Anderson's case," the company's statement said. "It was appropriate for the court to determine the legal status of Ms.

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge vs. 2006 GTO, which Goat gets your vote?

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.
