2004 HOLDEN MONARO GTO

Only 377 manual transmission Cosmos Purple GTO's were ever produced.

Genuine Australian GM components were used in the conversion:

  • Monaro front bar (bumper cover), complete with HID fog lamps and grille
  • Monaro side repeater lamps
  • Holden Senator tail lamps and garnish
  • Custom Holden chrome wheel logos
  • Monaro door sills with Holden lion
  • Steering wheel Holden emblem is a reproduction
  • Shaved  and filled spoilerless decklid,  blended to match
  • Twin scoop hood painted to match
  • 18" GTO wheel upgrade,  Bridgestone Potenza RE760 tires

  •  Australian JHP Option 4 (GMM street) shifter was fitted with a short lever machined to accept the stock knob.

Other than the above mentioned, the car is completely stock.

This car is in excellent condition, no issues. Runs and drives like new. No exaggeration! Very clean interior, purple leather still smells new. 28000 miles. No excessive driveline lash like most others, no rattles. Original springs don't sag.  No split seams in the rear seats. No door dings. Wheels although not perfect are free from any curb rash. The sole detractions are a couple of stone chips ons the hood and inevitable minute scratches in the clearcoat.

Owners manual, radio code card, silver limited edition brochure and even window sticker are included.

I also have the original flat hood (which I prefer) and the purple spoiler that was hideously perched on the trunk lid (which I obviously don't!)

Cars of this nature are commonly abused, blown up  and  more often than not totalled.  Many are salvaged .  Finding a pampered, carefully driven example is proving to be increasingly difficult.  The rare color and Monaro attire only enhance the probability of a unique one off GTO. The car is locally listed.

As much as I like this car, I seldom drive it anymore due to life and  health issues. Perhaps you can enjoy driving it as much as I have.

Please note: In this listing, I have provided an honest personal discription. However, this does not constitute any written or implied warranty or guarantee of any sort. The car is listed in AS IS condition.  Any further inquiries can be addressed via ebay contact email. Please allow adequate time for a response. Local interested parties please request appointment to see the car. PLEASE do not waste my time and yours unless you have the funds in order, or permission from whomever runs your life...

LONG DISTANCE BUYERS PLEASE CONTACT ME IN ADVANCE FOR PAYMENT DETAILS.  NO CHECKS OF ANY SORT WILL BE ACCEPTED.  CASH ONLY FOR LOCAL PICK UP.

Autoblog Classifieds finds: 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT

Tue, May 15 2018

Autoblog's free Readers' Used Car Classifieds section is a great place to list your car for sale, and because these are readers, they often list really interesting cars. Occasionally we find interesting listings, and tell you what's special about them. This 1987 Pontiac Fiero was listed for sale at the time of this writing, but if the listing expires by the time you read this, feel free to browse for other great finds. Thirty years after General Motors stopped building it, the Pontiac Fiero might have finally emerged from the darkness. First, it was a humble commuter car that just happened to be a mid-engined coupe, then it was a re-skinnable basis for Fierorraris or other slightly strange kit cars, and then it made some Worst Cars of All Time lists due to its econobox ingredients, including its Chevy Citation suspension parts. But after a few decades, even the most mediocre car will become interesting as most of the examples built have been run into the ground; why not then the Fiero? The story of the Fiero is paralleled by a number of GM products, as it improved constantly the longer it was built, and by the time of the last model years it was quite decent indeed. And then the plug was pulled. The Fiero might not be a Toyota MR2 or even a Fiat X1/9, but it was made in two body styles, the notchback and the fastback, the latter of which looks especially good now. The Fiero also remains quite affordable, and the plastic body panels do not rust, unlike with the two aforementioned cars. This 1987 car advertised for sale at Autoblog Classifieds does not yet benefit from the 1988 cars' improved suspension, but thanks to its low, low 47,000-mile odometer reading, it looks to be in tip-top shape. The automatic transmission is just the three-speed affair, though, rendering the V6 car here more of a cruiser than a fiery hot canyon carver. Perhaps that has contributed to its good condition, along with the lack of possibly leaky T-tops. Could the Fiero have aged better than your Hall & Oates tapes? Burt Reynolds’ former 1978 ‘Smokey’ Pontiac Trans Am in big auction by feds

Mon, Oct 21 2019

A 1978 Pontiac Trans Am once owned by Burt Reynolds as a memento of the car he drove in the film “Smokey and the Bandit” will be among nearly 150 muscle cars and luxury vehicles seized from the alleged perpetrators of an $800 million investment scheme that will hit the auction block this weekend in California. ItÂ’s said to be the largest single-owner car collection ever auctioned by the U.S. Marshals, seized late last year from Jeff and Paulette Carpoff, the founders of the now-defunct mobile solar generators company DC Solar. Two employees of the San Francisco Bay Area solar energy company, certified public accountant Ronald Roach, 53, and general contractor Joseph Bayliss, 44, both of the Bay Area. pleaded guilty Tuesday to participating in what federal prosecutors say was a massive scheme that defrauded investors of $1 billion. Both men agreed to cooperate in the ongoing investigation. While the Carpoffs, the company's owners, have not been charged, they agreed to let the government auction their collection of 150 classic, performance and luxury vehicles, including the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am once owned by Burt Reynolds. The replica of the car the late actor drove in "Smokey and the Bandit" and the other vehicles are to be auctioned Saturday, with online bidding already pushing the accumulated value past $5.5 million. Bidding on that Trans Am alone had topped $65,000 by late Tuesday. The auction company said it had been driven less than 3,400 miles. It's the largest single-owner car collection ever auctioned by the U.S. Marshals Service. Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Lasha Boyden of the Sacramento office called it "a stunning collection of vehicles" that also includes 1990s Humvees, 1960s-era Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros from several decades, plus older cars including a 1939 Buick Roadmaster, a 1951 Chevy Thriftmaster 3100 pickup truck and a 1941 Plymouth Special Delux with wooden doors and trim. “It is rare for the U.S. Marshals to hold an auction of such a stunning collection of vehicles,” Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Lasha Boyden in Sacramento said in a statement. ReynoldsÂ’ former Trans Am is a hardtop memento of the version he drove in the 1977 action comedy. It bears Bandit Run logos in the rear window and upper windshield and appears to have modified suspension components and bucket seats. It comes with a Florida registration with ReynoldsÂ’ name on it, and an autograph on the glove box that reads, “Be Safe!

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
