You are looking at my 2004 Pontiac GTO that I've been working on for the last 6 months. I bought this car to eventually tune for drifting but recently decided that I need to take a break from building cars so that I can use the time and money to build a house instead. I've made many improvements to the car in the short time that I've had it but it still needs a few things to be considered a reliable daily driver. I'll get the worst out of the way first: THE BAD: Bad syncro in reverse, meaning you have to hold it in gear (shown in Test Drive video below) Needs an A/C Line for the A/C to work (Heater works great!) Needs to be dyno tuned Headliner is falling (Common GTO problem) Driver seat is ripped at the seams (Common GTO problem) Exhaust has leaks (Comes with all new exhaust uninstalled) COST OF REPAIRS: You can rebuild the entire transmission for less than $800 The A/C work should cost less than $200 You can have the headliner redone for $100 You can have the seat repaired for $100 You can get it tuned for $300 You can install the exhaust yourself, or pay someone to do it for about $300 With all of these issues resolved, you can expect to make about 380 Wheel HP reliably while still capable of getting an average of 25mpg Now, onto the good parts. THE GOOD: BRAND NEW PARTS INSTALLED (in the last 6 months) (Can provide receipts for all parts upon request) Drag DR-37 Matt Black Wheels 17x7.5 Falken Ziex 612+ 245/45/17 Tires (Fronts are 95% tread and rears are 90% tread now) Slotted/Drilled Rotors PBR Brake Pads (All 4 corners) Rear Brake Shoes (for E-Brake) Fuel Tank Fuel Sending Unit Fuel Pump Lower Balljoints (Both sides) K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake 4300K HID 55w Low Beams 6000k HID 35w High Beams Amber LED Fog Lights Generic Short Shifter Summit Red Ball 6-Speed Shift Knob Kenwood DDX-470 Touchscreen CD/DVD/MP3/AUX with iPhone control & Bluetooth MTX 6.5" 2-Way Front Door Speakers NEW PARTS INCLUDED BUT NOT INSTALLED: (Can provide receipts for all parts upon request) Pacesetter Black Coated Long Tube Headers Corsa Catback (purchased slightly used) Pacesetter Black Painted Long Tube Headers Corsa 3" Catback Exhaust system (purchased slightly used) Catless Mids (2) Bosch 02 Sensors with extended wires for use with LT Headers Mr. Gasket Header Gaskets Stainless Header Bolts 3" Manual Exhaust Cutout MTX 6.5" 2-Way Components (for rear deck) UPGRADES THE CAR CAME WITH: (Have Cam card and receipt for heads available) Texas Speed Built 241 Heads - PRC Dual Spring Kit .650 PRC Valve Seals PRC Titanium Reatiners PRC Dual Valve Sprngs PEP Spring Seal Texas Speed Chomolly Push Rods Lunati Link-Bar Hydraulic Roller Lifters Melling High Pressure Oil Pump Texas Speed 228R 112 Camshaft (Custom grin by Comp Cams) - Gross Lift: .588/.588 Duration: 277/277 Flowmaster Dual Exhaust ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The car is located in Hooks Tx and can be seen by appointment only. No test drives unless you can prove that you intend to purchase the car. I'll need a copy of your DL and a copy of your insurance to let you drive the car even after proving that you intend to buy it, so please bring those things with you. I don't mind arranging shipping or dealing with your shipping company but you will be required to pay for the car in full before any shipping arrangements will be made. If you have any questions, call or text me at 903-278-3343 (Text is preferable) This car is currently financed at RRFCU in Texarkana TX and will need to be picked up during regular business hours of the credit union in order to get the title. I've sold several financed cars through them and getting the title the same day isn't a problem at all. They store the titles locally at their main office in Texarkana. Walkaround:

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Firebird
Sat, May 9 2020From 1967 through 2002, the Pontiac Division offered the Firebird, close sibling to the Chevrolet Camaro. By the third generation, which debuted for the 1982 model year, it became more difficult to tell the two F-body cars apart at a glance and the Pontiac-exclusive engines of the earlier years disappeared, but the Firebird still retained its own personality and its own position in the GM marketing hierarchy. I still find the occasional 1982-1992 Camaro as I search car graveyards for interesting stuff, but the corresponding Firebirds have become scarce in recent years. Here's a base-engine-equipped '87, its Bright Red paint (yes, that was the official name for the color) faded by the Colorado sun as it awaits the crusher. Firebird shoppers had their choice of three engines in 1987: A 5.7-liter Chevy V8 (210 hp), a 5.0-liter Chevy V8 (205 hp) and the same 2.8-liter 60° V6 that went into the Fiero and countless front-drive GM sedans (135 hp). This car has the base engine. The third-gen F-body didn't weigh much (3,105 pounds for the '87 with six-banger, about what a 2020 Corolla weighs), so 135 horses was tolerable. Plenty of these cars got T-5 5-speed manual transmissions, but this one got the two-pedal setup. Camaro wheels, of course. Our Friend the Carburetor didn't disappear from new cars until the early 1990s in the United States, though electronic fuel injection had become very commonplace by 1987. Still, GM considered this car's EFI worth a door-handle brag. It's not worth fixing up a mashed six-cylinder third-gen Firebird, so we can see the route this car took to its final parking space. GM Design shows what could have been and what might be
Thu, May 27 2021We periodically like to check in with GM Design's Instagram account to see what they're cooking up. Even better is when we catch a glimpse of an alternate history of what legendary designers from The General's past were thinking, though those ideas may not have made it into production. This week, for example, the account posted some illustrations from George Camp, whose career at GM spanned nearly four decades, from 1963 to 2001. One of the renderings is of what appears to be a 1971-72 Pontiac GTO Judge, but with two headlights instead of the production unit's quad beams. The rear departs from the canonical version most dramatically, with a massive integrated wing. Other bits that didn't make the production cut include large side vents, a gill-like side marker and rectangular intakes below the headlights that wouldn't be out of place on a modern design today. Amazingly, from what we can make out of the date, it appears that the drawing was done sometime in 1965, which makes it quite prescient.      View this post on Instagram            A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) There's also a very aerodynamic interpretation of a Corvette ZR-1. To our eyes it splits the difference between the 1986 Corvette Indy concept and a fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebird, so perhaps parts of Camp's work on this sketch did make it into physical form. There's also a radical sports car concept from May 1970 that resembles the Mazda RX-500 concept from the same year, a Syd Mead-looking Cadillac coupe, and an Oldsmobile with a cool take on the company's trademark waterfall grille and elements of the Colonnade Cutlass at the rear. Other recent posts include a FJ Cruiser-like off-road EV, a sleek coupe with the Chevy corporate grille, and a rendering of a Silverado-esque pickup that looks far better than the current production version.      View this post on Instagram            A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) It's pretty easy to lose hours in the account, but it's always fascinating to see GM's visions of what could have been and what might be. Celebrate the summer solstice by building the Pontiac Solstice shooting brake GM never did
Fri, Jun 21 2019Happy summer solstice, everyone! To celebrate, we have a particularly unusual eBay find connected to the Pontiac Solstice sports car. A seller has leftover inventory of fiberglass hardtops designed to turn the Pontiac Solstice roadster into a shooting brake. The seller says they came from a since-closed Indiana company, and they're clearly inspired by another aftermarket part and even a GM concept that never saw the light of day. We'll start from the beginning: the stillborn Chevy Nomad concept. It was a concept that came out about the same time as the original Solstice concept, and it was clearly based on the same platform, featuring a small two-door body and a long nose. It also had unashamedly retro Nomad wagon design cues and cues from the original Corvette. The car never saw production, but clearly people were interested in having a wagon-like sports car. That brings us to the next bit of history with an aftermarket hardtop developed by German company EDAG. We saw a prototype in person, and the overall shape seemed to fit the car — and the wraparound window design certainly seemed Nomadic. Besides the unique look, the hardtop and its functional hatch made the Solstice roadster's miniscule cargo space far more usable. It doesn't appear many of the tops were sold, though. These tops on eBay look very similar to the EDAG tops, though it's not clear if they're a direct replica or something similar. Being that the parts are leftover inventory, the seller notes that some of the tops may be missing pieces for installation, so only those who are handy with bodywork and fasteners, or who are able to lean on someone who is, need apply. Even with some extra work, if you really want a Solstice shooting brake, this is likely easier and cheaper than commissioning a shop to custom-build a roof for your. If you're interested, check out the link. They're $499.99 apiece, and the seller will also provide a set of seals and gaskets for the top for an extra $125.
