I'm posting for sale my USED 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, with CompetitionG package. This beautiful car has 66,000 miles and I am the third owner. It has been well cared for and maintained. It is in good shape, with normal wear and tear for its age. Its interior is all leather, includes all working power options, supercharged V6 and is a joy to drive. I recently installed four brand new tires, brake pads and new rotors on all wheels, and two new rear brake calipers. I also installed a new front right wheel bearing and hub. In all, just over $2,400 worth of improvements in the past six weeks. The seat leather bolsters have normal wear and minor cracking on outside edges of seats. There are no stains, cuts or splits in the leather seating surfaces or dash surface. A small section of the plastic heads-up display trim piece has an approximate 1" crack, but does not degrade the appear of the car. Some of the seatbelt warning stickers have curled due to age and sunlight. I do not smoke, but there may be a slight hint of very old cigar odor with a prior owner. A gentleman in my office parking lot recently gently backed into the left rear bumper cover and knocked a few chips of clear coat and paint from it. I attempted a home repair. It is not a professional finish but it removed the paint swipes left by the other car. Photos are attached. The steering wheel leather has some rough spots along the bottom, and a few of the radio buttons show slight wear. There are a few minor exterior paint chips and rust spots along the rocker panels and fender skirts near the wheels. You may be alright with these issues or you may choose to have them professionally improved if you decide to buy the car. Either way, the car is sold "AS-IS, WHERE IS" with no warranty neither expressed nor implied. Serious bidders only, please. Buyer should have your funding source ready and available if you decide to purchase or make an offer on my USED 2004 Grand Prix GTP. Additional photos can be provided; email me for any and all questions or additional information requested PRIOR to bidding. A deposit of $250 via Paypal is required with buyer's agreement to purchase, with remaining funds due by end of 7 business days. All Sales Final; No Refunds. A bill of sale, odometer statement and damage disclosure statement will be provided at conclusion of sale. Buyer is responsible for all tax, title and license registration fees with buyer's local vehicle registration authority. Buyer is responsible for all costs to ship, travel for or transport the vehicle to buyer's location. Title is clear and in-hand. Vehicle will be released for pick-up and/or shipping transport only AFTER buyer's funds have cleared at the seller's bank. For this reason, I prefer to exchange funds via Bank-to-Bank Wire Transfer; although in the case of this vehicle, I will consider receiving a Cashiers Check drawn on a legitimate bank in the U.S. I will not accept cash nor or personal check. Again, vehicle release and title re-assignment will not occur until AFTER buyer's funds have cleared at the seller's bank. Seller reserves the right to re-list the vehicle for sale if the buyer does not complete the final funding transaction within 7 business days, or work with the seller to notify seller of buyer's intent to complete the purchase.

German prosecutors have recorded calls between VW bigwigs talking dieselgate

Thu, Mar 21 2019

It's barely possible to believe how poorly Volkswagen continues to handle dieselgate. Depending on which day you catch the news, the German carmaker embodies the corporate venality of "Michael Clayton," the comic blundering of the Coen Brothers' "Burn After Reading," and the every-man-for-himself vengeance of "Reservoir Dogs." Today is Tarantino day, with news that German prosecutors have recordings of phone calls between former Audi and Porsche development boss Wolfgang Hatz, ex-Volkswagen Group executive Matthias Muller, and current Porsche executives Oliver Blume and Michael Steiner. Hatz made the calls to the trio in November 2015, two months after Volkswagen admitted its diesel-particulate sins to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Hatz was still employed at the time, and in his company car. Who recorded the calls? His wife. Hatz and his missus apparently saw the storm coming and started stacking defenses early. Hatz's wife, who can be heard encouraging Hatz during at least one call, sent the recordings to Hatz's attorney from her mobile phone. According to a Google translation of the German newspaper Handelsblatt's report, she included the note, "Here is a very long, but quite informative conversation on the current situation with useful formulations." The report in Handelsblatt said that in Germany it is generally "not allowed" to record a conversation and pass it on to a third party. We don't know how the authorities will handle this matter, since prosecutors found the recordings in e-mail attachments on Mrs. Hatz's mobile phone. Remember, when the diesel scandal broke, VW spent months saying that only a small number of low-level personnel were behind it, and all of the higher-ups had been blindsided. Ex-CEO Martin Winterkorn claimed to be "stunned that misconduct on such a scale was possible in the Volkswagen Group." Winterkorn successor Matthias Muller said, "according to current information, a few developers interfered in the engine management." Former VW USA honcho Michael Horn told a congressional committee that "a couple of software engineers" programmed the software for reasons no one could understand. In the recorded conversations, Hatz apparently called Muller to find out how VW planned to treat him.

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.

Classic Pontiac Trans Am Firebird Super Duty 455 sells for nearly $90,000

Fri, Aug 25 2023

Historically, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am raised the performance levels a notch or two over a plain Firebird in the muscle car hierarchy of the Sixties. But the Super Duty 455 version of the Trans Am — that number represents the cubic inches of the hand-assembled V8 engine — moved the performance needle big time in 1974. So much so that a clean example of the machine sold recently on the Hagerty Marketplace auction site for $89,296. Advertised with just under 54,000 miles on the clock and having undergone a thorough restoration, the Buccaneer Red model was one of just 943 Pontiac Firebirds equipped with the Super Duty 455 package for the 1974 model year. That build had also been offered in 1973. The Hagerty listing drew more than 21,000 views and 39 bids. According to Hagerty's valuation report, a similar car would be worth $85,700 in good condition, and $103,000 if it was in ‘“concours condition.” The Super Duty motor borrowed technology from the lineÂ’s 366-cubic-inch NASCAR engine, and featured heavy-duty connecting rods and an entirely new block with a revised crankshaft and heads to deliver a claimed 310 horsepower. The Firebird that sold was indeed loaded, with a three-speed Hydra-matic transmission (which surely reduced its overall value), power locks and windows, AC, dual exhausts, heavy duty stabilizer bars all around, and a “custom Interior trimmed in Red perforated Morrokide vinyl upholstery.” The entry of PontiacÂ’s pony car in the U.S., facing off against the Mustang and Camaro, dates back to 1967, when it was offered with an inline six and optional V8. The first Trans Ams were introduced two years later, the name derived from a handling package. General Motors ceased production of new Pontiacs in 2002 owing to declining sales and losing stakes in the sports coupe market. The big 455-cid V-8 had disappeared years earlier.
