1963 Pontiac Grand Prix, Original Ca Car,unrestored Well Maintained Original on 2040-cars
Naples, Florida, United States
We are reducing our collection of cars to a more manageable level and decided to part with this one since we use it very rarely.
1963 Pontiac Grand Prix. California Car all it's life until I brought it down to FL where it is stored inside all year other than one or two AACA shows. Wonderful looking and well maintained survivor. Not a restored show car. Yes you will see paint issues if you look closely, yes you will see the chrome is not brand new triple plated. Stand back a foot or two and it looks fabulous. If you want a 100 point restored show car then feel free to restore this car however if you want a well maintained original survivor, then this is the car for you. 389 v8, a/c ( works and it is cold ), automatic, ps, pb, pw, dual exhausts, radio, 8 lug aluminum wheels, console, tach, etc., 102,000 miles showing. Believe it is original from the condition. I wouldn't hesistate to drive this car anywhere. Fabulous driving car everytime I have taken it out. Starts right up, runs strong with no leaking, no smoking, no strange noises and other than the clock, everything works. I have taken it out maybe 6 times a year for shows only. All the work I have done to the car was strictly maintenance and preservation. Great color combination. Email if you want to see or drive the car. - no trades wanted at all. If you are interested make an offer. The worst thing that can happen is I say no. I have a clear FL title in my name and it is currently registered and insured. As this is a 50 year old used car, it is being sold as is, where is with no warranties expressed or implied. You are welcome to keep the car here as long as needed once you buy it as long as you cover our storage facility charges. |

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction
Mon, 01 Aug 2011For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am
Mon, 13 May 2013No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Sunfire coupe
Thu, Feb 21 2019In a few months, we'll reach the tenth anniversary of GM's axing of the venerable Pontiac brand. G6s, Vibes, and Matizes continued to be built until 2010, but I'm noticing a marked decrease in discarded Pontiacs lately, as I perform my junkyardy rituals. Here's a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, photographed in a Colorado wrecking yard. The Sunfire was the near-identical sibling to the Chevrolet Cavalier, based on the long-running (1982-2005) J-Body platform. It was cheap and simple, looked pretty sporty (at least in coupe form), and every parts store in North America carried just about everything you'd need to keep one running. This coupe had to compete for sales not only with a vast and menacing array of imports but with GM's own Saturn SC2 (not to mention the Cavalier itself). Meanwhile, the J platform was showing its age more with each passing year. This car sports what must have been the complete line of Fatal Clothing bomber-nose-art/skate-punk/gang-tag-influenced decals, circa 2010. I actually photographed this car back in 2011, then misplaced the image files until last week. The stickers are very California-centric for a Colorado car, but then plenty of Californians — including me— move here. When you know you're a car's final owner, it's a lot easier to whip out the paint pens and redecorate the interior. Power came from the engine GM developed for the very first J-Bodies: the 2.2-liter 122 pushrod four-cylinder. 2002 was the last model year for 122-powered Sunfires and Cavaliers; the most affordable S-10/Sonoma/Hombre trucks got this engine through 2003. It even came with a remote, so bad Midwestern farmgirls could make quick getaways when caught in the act by enraged broom-wielding mothers.
