House of Mouse Racing Consignments. Please see our website for information on current and future consignment vehicles: http://www.houseofmouseracing.com. Just consigned from a private collection is this highly-collectible ’91 Firebird Formula WS6 with only 72.5k miles. This car came from the factory with great performance – which has been further enhanced with aftermarket performance parts. This car will satisfy your need for speed! And the brilliant Radiant Red color with the ’86 Trans Am hood with air scoop and louvers will definitely get you noticed! The car has a nice stance and great street appearance. It runs and handles great. Everything works except the AC (which needs to be charged and wired). FLY IN AND DRIVE HOME. The performance modifications were made mostly in 2010-2011 and the
receipts come with the car including the motor build receipts. The current
owner/collector is selling this vehicle from his collection as his tastes have
changed. This
is definitely a chance to purchase a performance sport car at a very reasonable
price. Body: The body is super-solid and clean. It all retains all-original sheet metal except for the customized ’86 Trans Am hood (the owner has the original hood which was not painted when the car was painted 2 years ago but will be included with the sale of the car at the buyer's option - any extra shipping costs not included). The body looks great! No repairs or accidents from what I can tell. No dents or rust. The red paint is vivid with a nice shine and great depth. Body gaps are nice and tight. Interior: Interior has looks nice with gray cloth side-bolstered seats in nice condition except for the typical wear spot on the driver’s side from getting in and out of the car. The panels, headliner and carpets are in good shape. The dash is in nice shape. The gauge lenses are clear and intact. AEM digital gauges on A-pillar. All the gauges and electrical components work. Drivetrain: This fuel-injected 383 stroker motor has been modified for serious performance. It was built in 2011 and the owner has the receipts from the build. It is a 4-bolt main block with Eagle pistons & rods, cast crank and aluminum TrickFlow heads. This is a full roller motor – roller lifters, roller cam and rocker rockers. The cam is a 500 lift steel billet cam. Holley stealth ram intake, MSD Eng & Acell DFI computer. It is all controlled by a Thruster Control Computer which is Fully Laptop Programmable. 1-7/8” ceramic-coated Doug's Longtube Headers. Custom 2.5" dual stainless steel exhaust with x-pipe & Borla mufflers. 700R4 transmission with 8” converter / 3500 stall. Aluminum drive shaft. The rear end is a 7.625. 10-bolt with 3:90 gears & Detroit Tru-Track slip differential with 30-spline axles. The engine does not smoke or make any unusual noises and has awesome power. The transmission operates very nicely with quick, snappy shifts in all gears! Undercarriage: Is in excellent condition, no cracks or damage. Subrame ties. BMR K-member, tubular A-Arms and adjustable panhard bar along with adjustable torq arm and upper and lower tubular control bars. 4-wheel disc 11” brakes with drilled & slotted rotors. SBC calipers in front & stock calipers in the rear. Cooper tires are in nice condition. Options: From the factory this car was equipped with…power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, power trunk lid, am/fm stereo with CD player and air conditioning. Items to Note: The air conditioning is not wired up to the pump and also needs to be charged. The hood has some cracks where the scoop was molded on. Passenger-side tail light lens has a small crack. The car has no catalytic converters and therefore will not pass emissions tests required be certain counties. Buyer is responsible for compliance with any emissions requirements if applicable. Car comes with clear Ohio title and keys. Shipping: Shipping is the winner’s responsibility. I can help with local shipping and work with your shipper. If shipping out of the country I do have a shipper that can help make your arrangements. He ships mostly to the Scandinavian countries. Consigned: This car has been consigned to me for sale, but I am not the owner. If the terms of this auction are not adhered to, the car will be immediately relisted. I am not responsible for any fees, or taxes or any out-of-pocket costs. Buyer is responsible for all state, county, city taxes and fees, as well as title/registration fees in the state that the vehicle will be registered. No warranty, sold as is. Vehicle has a clear Ohio title. Will not ship but will try to work with you if you hire a shipping company. However, since this is my residence, arrangements will have to be made for the shipping company to pick up the car when I can be home to attend it. Buyer is responsible for all shipping and related arrangements and payments. Vehicle must be paid in full before it leaves my premises and I assume no responsibility for damages incurred after leaving my premises. Remember when placing a bid you are entering a legally binding contract. Ask all of your questions and/or come see the vehicle before you commit by bidding, because a bid is a commitment to purchase. Dishonest bid retractions will be reported to eBay and will result in you being blocked from bidding on any future auctions. As you can see by my feedback (100% positive), I describe my items accurately. I have sold other vehicles on eBay to happy purchasers. Good luck and happy bidding!

GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible
Wed, Aug 1 2018The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else? General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]
Fri, 26 Aug 2011You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
Junkyard Gem: 1988 Pontiac 6000 LE Safari Wagon
Wed, May 27 2020The Detroit station wagon was fast losing sales to minivans and trucks as the decade of the 1980s progressed, but Pontiac shoppers still had plenty of choices as late as the 1988 model year. A visit to a Pontiac dealership in 1988 would have presented you with three sizes of wagon, from the little Sunbird through the midsize 6000 and up to the mighty Parisienne-based Safari. Today's Junkyard Gem is a luxed-up 6000 LE, complete with "wood" paneling, found in a car graveyard in Fargo, North Dakota. Confusingly, the "Safari" name in 1988 was used by Pontiac to designate both a specific model — the wagon version of the Parisienne/Bonneville— and as the traditional Pontiac designation for a station wagon. That meant that the wagon we're looking at now was a Safari but not the Safari in the 1988 Pontiac universe. The 6000 lived on the GM A-Body platform, as the Pontiac-badged version of the Chevrolet Celebrity. Production ran from the 1982 through 1991 model years, with the A-Body Buick Century surviving all the way through 1996. The LE trim level came between the base 6000 and the gloriously complex 6000 STE (which wasn't available in wagon form, sadly). I visited this yard in Fargo after judging at the Minneapolis 500 24 Hours of Lemons in Brainerd, Minnesota, last fall. Up to that point, I had visited 47 of the Lower 48 United States, with just North Dakota remaining, so I made a point of doing a Fargo detour in order to check that state off my list. I'm pleased that I found such a good example of the 1982-1996 GM A-Body in this yard, because the most famous of all the A-Bodies is the 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera driven to Brainerd by the inept Fargo-based kidnappers in the film "Fargo." This Minnesota-plated 6000 had some rust, but just negligible levels by Upper Midwestern standards on a 31-year-old car. The interior looked very good, with the original owner's manual still inside. The 6000 LE boasted "redesigned contoured seats and London/Empress fabric," which sounds pretty swanky. Something less swanky lives under the hood: an Iron Duke 2.5-liter pushrod four-cylinder engine, known as the Tech 4 by 1988. The Iron Duke was, at heart, one cylinder bank of the not-quite-renowned Pontiac 301-cubic-inch V8; while fairly rugged, the Duke ran rough (typical of large-displacement straight-four engines) and made just 98 horsepower in this application. Pontiac offered a couple of optional V6s in the 6000 in 1988, but no Quad 4.
