I have owned this 1992 Pontiac Firebird for seven years.  The vehicle is in good condition.  Six years ago, the vehicle was professionally repainted to its current forest green with black metal flakes color.  The vehicle has been kept in a garage and has been used as a secondary vehicle to be only used in good weather.  The air conditioning, heat, fog lights, parking lights, rear brake lights and headlights all work accordingly.  The only mechanical issues are that the headlights are currently locked in an upright position due to sounding light motors going bad and that the front hood shocks stay up randomly (depending on temperature).  The rear hatch shocks work well (hatch must be opened with the key).  There are new tires on restored black and chrome Trans-am wheels (approx. 2,000 mi).  The body of the car is in good condition with only minimal small scratches.  The interior is also in good shape with its black and charcoal gray coloring.  There is a small crack in the dashboard next to the speaker.  The radio works with a manual antenna.  The back window is tinted and there is a new exhaust muffler and dual tailpipes that were replaced at 70,500 miles.  Included with the car will be two sets of factory keys, two sets of t-tops: factory fiber glass t-tops (professionally painted black) and glass mirror t-tops that are currently on the car.  You will also receive two leather bags with cloth inserts for the t-tops.  Winning bidder will also receive an eight month old car cover, rubber floor-mats and carpet floor-mats.  There will also be two silver sail-bird decals included for when the originals need replaced.  The vehicle also has the original owner's manual, an extra fog light bulb, an extra center wheel cap, an extra wheel lug-nut and lug-nut covers.  The winning bidder will have the option to purchase silver alloy firebird (15 in) snowflake rims with Firestone tires with approximately 4,000 miles on them (shown in the picture with silver wheels).  The black rims are currently on the vehicle.

This is the second time the vehicle has been listed on ebay; the first time it sold the winning bidder (who has no transaction history on ebay) did not make contact with me, nor responded to any messages I sent him.  The winning bidder is responsible for vehicle pick-up which will be close to Harrisburg, PA.  Buyer is also responsible for making contact with the seller and making a $500.00 non-refundable deposit to Pay-Pal within the first forty-eight hours of auction's end.

Please feel free to contact me with any additional inquiries on the vehicle.

Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?

Fri, May 27 2016

When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Junkyard Gem: 1964 Pontiac Catalina Custom Ventura

Mon, May 22 2023

Like Impala, Skylark, Malibu and Silverado (among many others), the Ventura name began its career as the designation for a trim level or option package used on another GM model, then became a model name in its own right. Initially a designation for a snazzed-up Pontiac Catalina two- or four-door hardtop, the Ventura name moved over to a Pontiac-ized version of the Chevy Nova for 1971. Today's Junkyard Gem, found in a Northern California car graveyard, proudly bears both Catalina and Ventura badging. Actually, the Catalina name itself started out as a trim level for the Chieftain and Star Chief models of the 1950s, just to confuse everybody. By the time this car was built, the Catalina was the cheapest of four Pontiac models built on the same full-size B-Body platform as the big Chevrolets and Olds 88s of the time (the Star Chief, Bonneville and Grand Prix ranked above it on the 1964 Pontiac Prestige-O-Meter). The 1964 Catalina four-door hardtop with the Custom Ventura package offered a lot of swank per dollar, with a price starting at $3,063. That's about $29,821 when converted to inflated 2023 dollars. The main benefit of the Custom Ventura package was an interior done up entirely in Morrokide upholstery. Morrokide was the name GM applied to Naugahyde fake leather when used in Pontiac vehicles; when used in Buicks, it was known as Cordaveen, while Oldsmobile Naugahyde was called Morocceen. Naugahyde took its name from the town of Naugatuck, Connecticut, where it was invented. This car's Morrokide is in rough shape. In fact, everything about this car is decayed and probably infectious. You know to be careful when a junkyard car has warnings about rat feces inked on the glass. That said, I couldn't resist examining the 8-track tapes that littered the interior. Here's Hotel California, the 1976 hit album by the Eagles. Supertramp's Paris, a live album recorded from the 1979 Breakfast in America tour, is here as well. Here's The Best of Carly Simon, from 1975. The tapes were played on this Sparkomatic player, which probably lived in the glovebox or under the seat. The factory radio was AM-only, and includes the frequency markings for the atomic-attack CONELRAD emergency frequencies. 1964 was the last year for mandatory CONELRAD radios in the United States.

There's a 'Knight Rider' movie in development

Mon, Aug 17 2020

James Wan, who has directed films from the first "Saw" to "Aquaman," with "Furious 7" in between, and produced even more projects, is producing a new Knight Rider movie according to a report in Deadline. Just in case there's a reader who doesn't know, Knight Rider was one of the seminal trio of iconic-car shows from the 1980s, along with "The Dukes of Hazzard" and "Miami Vice." The series lasted 90 episodes that ran from 1982 to 1986, following the crime-fighting exploits of Michael Knight, a man who crusaded for justice after being shot in the face. Billionaire Walton Knight hired Michael to work with the Knight Foundation, where Michael helps develop the Knight Industries Two Thousand, a Pontiac Trans-Am with AI that can talk, drive more than 200 miles per hour, and could teach MI6's Q Branch about gadgetry. Collider described David Hasselhof's Michael Knight as "crimefighter by trade and wearing-a-leather-jacket-with-no-shirt-underneath innovator by hobby." The show made such an impression that there was a series spinoff called "Code of Justice," two TV movies in 1991 and 1994, a convention called KnightCon, and a series reboot on NBC that lasted for one season from 2008 to 2009, as well as stores full of action figures and models and literature, YouTube fan-made trailers and movies, and this wacky German-dubbed short "Knight Rider" film starring Hasselhoff. We don't know anything about the new movie's plot yet, other than that it's set in the present. T.J. Fixman, better known for now as a video game writer who worked on franchises like "Ratchet and Clank" and "Resistance: Fall of Man," has been attached to write, with a mandate to keep "the anti-establishment tone of the original." With matters still early in development there's no telling when the movie will hit theaters, and Wan's probably got his hands busy with the new MacGuyver reboot for CBS, anyway. Now that there's already been a Knight Industries 2000 and 3000, that gives us plenty of time to imagine — in a world where 200-mph hypercars powered by everything sprout like weeds and even Cannonballers are using military-like equipment — what would a Knight Industries Four Thousand possess? And would it be called KIFT? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
