1979 10th Anniversary Trans Am #160752 Restored and Runs great! No reserve! 405HP and 440LB-FT 6.2L 383 Stroker crate engine http://youtu.be/_4oj6cH2oF4 walk around and drive video! My wife originally bought the vehicle on Ebay in 2009 for my 30th birthday. Since then the vehicle had a partial frame off restoration in 2012 by "East Coast Classics" as you can see in the pictures. The T/A originally came with the Olds 403 which I had replaced with a Stoker 6.2L 383 crate engine made by BluePrint. The Transmission is a 4 speed 700R4 and 3:73 rear end. The tail lights have been upgraded to LED's and the hood was replaced with a fiberglass one. Odometer has turned over and approximately 4,000 miles have been put on the engine since the rebuild. This vehicle runs great! I drive it to work on nice days and I've taken it on road trips to the Outer Banks from Virginia Beach with no problems. I don't have the time(kids) or space(kids) for for my beloved Trans am anymore and I'm deciding to sell it. Also I'm usually late where ever I go since people want to stop me and talk about the car. BluePrint Engines GM 383 C.I.D. 405HP/440Ib-ft Vortec Dressed Stroker Crate Engines BP3830CTC1 purchased from Summit Racing WS6 package with 4 wheel disk brakes If you are looking for an original parts matching T/A this is not it. A lot of money has gone into this car (approx $50G) to bring it up to the condition it is in now. It would be nice to get back half of what was put into it but I'm being realistic and would be happy with anything over $14,000. 700R4 Transmission rebuilt with the same miles as the engine 3:73 Rear end 168T flywheel 5 quart oil pan high output electric cooling fan torque converter frame connectors Borla exhaust and shorty headers C-57 Coys Wheels -coyswheels.com Front 235/40z R18 91w Rear 275/40z R18 99w New dash and head liner B/M Quick Silver shifter Rebuilt Ac unit & installed new heater core, blower motor, and wire harness New front and rear bumper covers, trunk lid, driver side rear quarter panel and door skins New weather strip kit for the doors, trunk and T-Tops New window motors LED brake lights Wiper motor washer pump replaced 160 thermostat New custom headliner 4 point seat belts 4 Alpine speakers w/Alpine amp and one 12"sub in custom sub box Paint color: Dark Titanium Metallic "2010 Dodge" paint code PDT Feel free to call with any questions or to come inspect the car if you are in the Virginia Beach area 757-343-4592 The vehicle is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. GM Recalls 1.5 Million Cars For Steering Defect
Tue, Apr 1 2014General Motors Co. said Monday it is recalling 1.5 million vehicles worldwide because the electronic power-steering assist can suddenly stop working, making them harder to steer. The new recall brings to 6.3 million the number of vehicles GM has recalled since February. The initial recall - now at 2.6 million small cars for an ignition switch defect - prompted the automaker to name a new safety chief and speed up the review of cases that might lead to recalls. GM said it expects recall-related costs to total $750 million in the first quarter, including $300 million for the ignition switch recall. Included in the new recall are: - Chevrolet Malibu from the 2004-2005 model years, plus some 2006, 2008 and 2009 model-year cars. - Chevrolet Malibu Maxx from the 2004-2005 model years, plus some 2006 model-year cars. - Chevrolet HHR from the 2009-2010 model years (non-turbocharged only). - Some Chevrolet Cobalts from the 2010 model year. - Some Saturn Auras from the 2008-2009 model years. - Saturn Ion from the 2004-2007 model years. - Pontiac G6 from the 2005 model year, plus some cars from the 2006, 2008 and 2009 model years. - Service parts installed into certain vehicles before May 31, 2010, under a previous recall GM says no deaths related to the defect have been reported. It is still investigating whether there have been any accidents or injuries related to the problem. GM dealers will replace the power steering motor and other parts for free. Spokesman Alan Adler said owners will be notified of the recall the week of April 28 and will be told when parts are available after that. The Cobalt and the Ion, which are also involved in the ignition switch recall, share many common parts.GM recalled Cobalts from the 2005-2010 model years for the power steering defect in 2010, but it's unclear why the company didn't recall the Ion at the same time. Federal regulators also opened an investigation into power steering complaints in the Ion in 2010, but didn't order a recall. Woman Cleared In Fatal Car Wreck After GM Letter
Tue, Nov 25 2014A Texas judge cleared a woman Monday for a car accident that killed her fiance in 2004, after General Motors acknowledged that her car would have been among millions being recalled for a problem that may have contributed to the death. Candice Anderson was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion when it suddenly veered off a road about 60 miles east of Dallas and slammed into a tree. Anderson, then 21, was severely injured when the car's air bags failed to deploy. Her 25-year-old fiance, Gene Erikson, who was a passenger, was killed. She later pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the wreck. But during a hearing Monday, State District Judge Teresa Drum expunged the conviction from her record, according to officials in the Van Zandt County court andAnderson's attorney, Bob Hilliard. In a letter given to the court ahead of the hearing, an attorney for the automaker confirmed that Anderson's Saturn would have been among 2.6 million GM vehicles recalled in February to address ignition switches that can slip out of the "run" position, causing the engines to stall and disabling power steering, brakes and air bags. Anderson's crash "is one in which the recall condition may have caused or contributed to the frontal air bag non-deployment in the accident," attorney Richard C. Godfrey wrote. Hilliard provided a copy of the letter to The Associated Press, and Godfrey confirmed its contents Monday. Anderson was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide because there was no clear explanation at the time why the wreck occurred, according to court documents from the case. She pleaded guilty to a letter charge in 2006, and was sentenced to five years' probation. She also was ordered to perform 260 hours of community service, pay court costs and cover the costs of Erikson's funeral. "GM knew this defect caused this death, yet instead of telling the truth watched silently as Candice was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter," Hilliard said Monday. "It took 10 years for GM to find its voice." In a separate statement issued by the company, GM said it "cooperated fully by providing technical information that was requested to make a decision in this matter." The carmaker also said the issue in Anderson's case was for local law enforcement and courts to consider. "That's why we took a neutral position on Ms. Anderson's case," the company's statement said. "It was appropriate for the court to determine the legal status of Ms.
1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction
Mon, 01 Aug 2011For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
