1976 Firebird TransAm HO 455 correct Vin#  WX stamped block, correct Vin# stamped 4spd Trans, correct stamped
Posi-Trac Rear end-all match correct to its (pictured) build sheet, 45k original miles.  Car was meticulously
kept and loved by its original owner. Clearly a no hit no rust car that has an approx 5yr old $15k paint job.  It
is absolutely stunning  to see the paint in the light...they didn't look like this in 76.  Look and listen to how
the doors open and close in the video below. Interior and trunk equally stunning.  The rear dash is even original
(one speaker!) I purchased this car in 2013 from SW, owner of Elite Motorsports in Austin as a correct, no hit, no
rust car with 42k original miles.  You see tons of "factory 455's listed but know that of the approx 47,000 T/A's
built in 76 only 7100 were HO 455's.
Nothing has been done to the car that cannot be undone to return to stock. Factory wheels still fit if that is your
preference.
Detroit Speed leaf springs and front coil-overs along with custom wheels. Drilled/slotted rotors. Handles, corners
and stops beautifully and quite different than a stock T/A from the 70's. View from the back  with the wide tires
is awesome. I've been asked if it is mini-tubbed-its is the stock body.
I purchased an upper end package from Butler as they are the utmost authority on Pontiac performance.  Edelbrock
Aluminum heads, a complete Lunati/CC roller cam and roller valve train, QF billet carb, Edelbrock intake, Doug's
coated headers into a stainless exhaust were all professionally installed by Elite in Austin. I wanted the car to
stay completely street-able, dependable and have a very aggressive sound at idle and hit like a hammer on
acceleration.  I wanted the temperature totally controlled and had the largest Griffin aluminum radiator made that
would fit in the stock mounts- it never goes above opening temp. A/C blows cold and she runs on pump gas.  If you
think it sounds good in the video you should hear it person-it never fails to turn heads.  Everyone I contacted
said there was no way to retain the shaker hood scoop with the top end.  I found the fabrication guy that could-no
mods to hood.  Point being details were sweated on this car.  I have never seen a second gen CLOSE to this car.
All adult owned, not raced on street or strip, no track days, no smoke, never left outside.  I am a direct shot
from the Austin airport.

This Hoonigan mechanic's twin-turbo Trans Am is wonderful

Thu, Mar 24 2016

What do you drive when you work on rally machines for a living? Probably a Subaru WRX, and that's what Gregg Hamilton had for a while until working on his car felt too much like his day job. So when he moved from New Zealand to the US to work for Ken Block (with a few stops along the way) he bought something entirely different. This is Gregg's 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It's a throwback to another time, but it's anything but stock. It has that magic combination of a big V8 with a manual transmission and rear drive, just like the tin-top racers Gregg watched in his Kiwi youth. He bought it sight unseen from its previous owner in Alabama, and has been tinkering with it ever since. There's something about the flared wheel arches and the classic Firebird gold-striped black livery that has us smitten. Scope out the six-minute clip above from Petrolicious and see if you don't fall for Gregg's Pontiac as well.

Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition

Tue, Aug 29 2017

The W Platform proved to be extremely long-lived and versatile for General Motors, remaining in production from 1988 all the way through 2016. You had your Impalas and your Regals and your Cutlass Supremes, and of course the 1988-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix was a W-body. For the 2000 model year, Pontiac made the racy-looking Daytona 500 Edition Grand Prix, an example of which I just found in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard. 2,000 of these cars were made, presumably because it was the year 2000, and each one sports plenty of cool-looking Daytona 500 graphics. Perhaps some Regal owner will buy these seats and swap them. This is the second junked Daytona 500 Grand Prix I have seen recently, after this one in Colorado. The Daytona 500 was about the same as the GTP version, with Eaton-supercharged 3800 engine making a respectable 240 horsepower. Disappointingly, this car has an automatic transmission. It never saw 150,000 miles, unlike most 21st-century W-bodies I see in wrecking yards. Featured Gallery Junked 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition View 21 Photos Auto News Pontiac Sedan

This KITT replica sold at auction for $32,500

Thu, Apr 23 2020

UPDATE: This 1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am KITT replica officially sold for $32,500. Here's hoping the new owner has a blast throwin' it into Pursuit Mode. Let's get one thing straight right off the bat: This isn't a perfect KITT replica. The original KITT used in the Knight Rider TV series was based on a 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The one you see above, which is currently for sale at auction site Bring A Trailer, is a 1987 model, and since it's a GTA edition, it has some extra body cladding that the smooth-sided television car lacked. That aside, most casual observers would probably never notice the difference, and even those who did (like us) are still likely to be impressed by the car's transformation. This KITT replica is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. It ought to be fairly quick, though quite a bit shy of the fictional car's very fictional 300-mph top speed. We're not exactly Knight Rider experts, but some quick Google sleuthing suggests that the Knight Industries Two Thousand supposedly cost more than $11,000,000 to build in Hollywoodland. This one will surely command a significantly lower sum — as of this writing, it's been bid up to $18,000 with four days remaining on the auction. This content is hosted by a third party. There are several videos of the car that detail its modifications inside and out, but suffice it to say it seems to be a well-sorted replica. Here's hoping its new owner keeps it well clear of other KARRs. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
