| Hello. You are bidding on a 1973 Formula Firebird with 400 engine, 4bbl carb, TH400 transmission and cold factory a/c. It is a true numbers matching Formula 400 survivor with 81,000 original miles. This car spent its entire life in the little California town of Portola. It has always been adult owned, driven, and maintained. I am the third owner. Condition is as follows : Engine/Drivetrain: Runs and drives great, engine does not smoke.  This is a dependable, well maintained driver with no leaks.  Everything works on this car, no major mechanical issues at all.   Front tires are like new,  rear tread is getting low so they will need replaced at some point, but that's the only thing I can think of that this car needs mechanically.  I do, however, still have the original Pontiac wheels that came with the car. Tires on the stock wheels have decent tread but are old.  Will ship with wheels and tires shown or the stockers, whichever you choose.  Interior: Interior as you can see is in nice driver condition showing normal wear for its age. Steering column is tight. Everything works, blinkers, lights, etc. I would give the interior a solid 8 on a scale of 1-10. Body: This car has ZERO rust issues and still has all GM sheet metal that it came with from the factory. Has been repainted once over original green and has no body filler or damage repair hiding under the paint. What you see is what you get in the pictures. Paint is driver quality with chips, scratches, and parking lot dings, but as you can see is still very presentable as is. Doors, trunk and hood open and shut good. Trunk floor was just stripped down and recoated by a reputable local body shop so that the potential buyer can see just how solid it actually is. Yes, I do have the original jack and spare for this car as well. Body is excellent on this car. Overall: This is an extremely solid California driver with original sheetmetal that can be driven and enjoyed as is. Plus it`s a true Formula 400 car with all original drivetrain, not a clone This car is for sale locally as well as on Ebay so I reserve the right to end my auction at anytime before the scheduled end of auction. Potential Buyers:   I have described this car honestly and to the best of my knowledge, but please, if you need additional pictures, or have any specific questions, please ask BEFORE bidding as this sale is final with no warranty. Please understand, this is a 40+year old car, so expect normal wear and tear based on mileage and my decription. Serious buyers can feel free to call me with any questions (530) 307-8973. If I don`t answer, please LEAVE A MESSAGE and I WILL call you back!! Lowball offers will not receive a response, I am not out of work, losing my house, etc. I also reserve the right to end auction at any time for local sale. Yes, this car is available in person for inspection at any time before the end of auction as I have nothing to hide. > >SERIOUS BIDDERS WITH 15 OR LESS FEEDBACK WILL CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING AS I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID OTHERWISE. NOTHING PERSONAL, BUT I HAVE DEALT WITH TOO MANY NON-PAYING BIDDERS IN THE PAST AND IT WILL NOT HAPPEN TO ME AGAIN. THANKS. Out of country buyers: I have sold cars out of country in the past, have references, and am familiar with the shipping process. I prefer West Coast Shipping but will help arrange safe transport to a shipping port of your choice. Thank you Larry

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes
Mon, 31 Mar 2014When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:
Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures
Tue, Jun 23 2020It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.
Junkyard Gem: 1968 Pontiac Catalina sedan
Wed, Aug 14 2019During the late 1960s, General Motors ruled the American car landscape, growing so dominant that the federal government considered antitrust action to break up the company. The General offered sporty Corvettes and muscular GTOs and rugged pickups and opulent Fleetwoods, sure, but the fat part of the sales numbers came from the bread-and-butter full-sized sedans and coupes, which boasted superior engineering and modern-looking styling; in 1967 alone, the Chevrolet Division moved 972,600 full-sized cars, and that's not even counting the 155,100 full-sized Chevy station wagons that year. Pontiac, Buick and Oldsmobile sold the same big cars with division-specific engines and bodywork, and they flew off the showroom floors. For 1968, the entry-level full-sized car from Pontiac was the Catalina, and I've found an example of the most affordable version of the most affordable big Pontiac for 1968, discarded in a northeastern Colorado wrecking yard about 50 miles south of Cheyenne, Wyoming. A '68 GM full-sized coupe, convertible, or even a four-door hardtop might be worth the cost and effort of a restoration, but a no-options base-trim-level post sedan with rust and plenty of body filler just won't get many takers these days. Like so many vehicles that sit outside for decades on the High Plains, this one is full of rodent nests. I wouldn't want to work on the interior of this car without a respirator and a lot of work with a shop-vac, because hantavirus is a significant danger in these parts. Alfred Sloan's plan to offer a stepladder of prestige for GM buyers, in which your first new car was a Chevrolet and you moved up through Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Buick until you became sufficiently prosperous for Cadillac ownership, worked brilliantly for decades. In 1968, the Catalina was a notch above its Impala sibling on the Snob-O-Meter, with the sedan starting at $3,004 (about $22,600 in 2019 dollars). In fact, the V8-equipped 1968 Chevrolet Impala sedan listed at $3,033, and the Oldsmobile Delmont 88 went for $3,146, so the lines were beginning to blur between the relative positions of the lower-end GM divisions by this time. The base engine in the 1968 Catalina was a 400-cubic-inch (6.5 liter) V8 rated at 265 horsepower and enough torque to tow an aircraft carrier.
