1972 Pontiac Formula Fireibrd *Barn Find*
This is a very unique and highly optioned classic muscle car.
This is a gentlemans Hot Rod having all the luxuries and amenities and power and handling to boot.
This is an L78 optioned Formula, one of 2429 built that way with a Pontiac 400 rated at 250hp and big auto trans with factory posi rear.
The car seems original minus its engine which is now a 71 Pontiac big valve 96 head 400 rated at 300hp.
Engine has not been started but is all there from carb all the way down.
This car has power everything and option galore... power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, even the rare power locks and still has the actuators.
Car has air condtioning and its all there... Deluxe Black interior with console, auto trans and also a rear window defrost car.
*This is the lowest production year Formula of the 2nd gens with only 5,249 being produced during the infamous "strike year" at GM.
This is a southern car that seems to have been in North Carolina most of its life. It has some issues but will make an awesome project car.
The front floors are fair and cowl is in good shape. The subframe and rails seem to be in good shape. The area under the back seat is in need of repair.
The quarters have some rot at bottom but seem fairly good metal. Trunk has some sort of patch in it and havent removed gas tank so dont know exact condition.
All the window trim for the front and rear glass is in the trunk as well as other odds and ends for the car... car seems to have had a fiberglass valence- Factory?
Hood is in need of some repair but is definitely salvageable... a couple of the vent pieces are missing and pass side corner is cracked.
The doors and door jambs seem to be in good shape and all the seats and seat backs are in tact and in good shape.
Grills are perfect and the hardest part of the car to find because of the strike and relative low production number they are not available repop.
Car is Located 25 miles east of Charlotte NC... Odometer says 10k miles but I imagine its 110k but not sure.
Selling the car only because I have too many projects... Id love to see someone with a Passion for old Ponchos and the 2nd gens to have it.
These cars are gaining value rapidly and as nice a car as it will make it will also be a nice investment.
Bid honestly and please dont be a lousy bidder... she needs a new home

Florida man runs down bikers in traffic
Tue, May 31 2016A Florida biker and his passenger got a nasty surprise when a road rage incident turned ugly on Monday. According to WTSP, Joe Calderazzo was returning from a Veterans Memorial Day motorcycle rally around 5:30 pm with a group of fellow riders. During their ride, the group got entangled with an overly aggressive driver in a Pontiac. Abe Garcia of Tampa watched the silver Pontiac attempt to run the pack of bikers off the road, which started the altercation. The bikers caught up to the Pontiac in stopped traffic, and a shouting match ensued between the bikers and the Pontiac driver. At this point, Garcia pulled out his phone and started recording. The exchange escalated, and suddenly the Pontiac driver floored it, turned hard to the right, and ran over Calderazzo's Harley. The Pontiac mangled the Harley and knocked Calderazzo and his passenger to the ground. The Pontiac then fled the scene. WTSP spoke to Calderazzo as he was on his way to the hospital. "I thought the guy was trying to kill us obviously," said Calderazzo. "You know you don't know what's going through your mind. Is he going to put the car in reverse? Is he going to turn around? Is he going to stop and pull out a gun? You don't know what's going on." The Pontiac driver, a serial traffic offender named Robert Paul Vance, was picked up by police soon after the incident. He is charged with hit-and-run, a moving traffic violation, and aggravated battery. Porsche Boxster Spyder to get GT3's 4.0-liter flat six?
Sun, Feb 4 2018It's been a merry-go-round the past few months, the rumormill focused on what will power the next Porsche Boxster Spyder. First came hearsay of a flat-six going into the special edition of a model line known for its turbocharged four-cylinder engines. Then came tattling that the flat-six in question was the naturally aspirated, 4.0-liter from the 911 GT3. A couple of weeks ago we wrote " we'd be surprised if Porsche packed anything other than a turbocharged flat-four under the skin." But Autocar has a new report that, indeed, a downtuned version of the 500-horsepower 4.0-liter from the GT3's rump will move to the Boxster Spyder's midsection. The Autocar piece follows a Wheels magazine article from last November, and the prediction isn't outrageous. When Car and Driver reviewed the last Boxster Spyder, it wrote, "the hand-me-down six comes from the older 911 Carrera S, not to be confused with the new turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six that powers the refreshed 911." If we can believe a recent report from Automobile about the 992-series 911 due later this year, the same thing is happening: The 991.2-series GT3 bequeaths its powerplant to the smaller sibling, and the 992-series GT3 moves to a 3.8-liter, twin-turbo flat-six with around 550 hp. Autocar quotes Andreas Preuninger, the Porsche engineer leading the development of all of these wunderkinds, saying of the Boxster earlier this year, "Natural aspiration is one of our main USPs. ... [We] think we can achieve throttle response and immediacy a little bit better with an atmospheric high-revving engine than any kind of turbo." We'll guess that means, by inference, that the GT3 is about to age out of naturally-aspirated university. The limited-edition Boxster Spyder might carry the torch with the 4.0-liter, with output somewhere around 430 hp. The Cayman GT4 could do the same. Or, who knows, an evolution of the 375-hp, 3.8-liter flat-six in the previous Boxster Spyder might burble out of left field. We expect to see the Boxster Spyder late this year. Until then, we'll wait to see what the merry-go-round says next time the Zuffenhausen horse comes around. This Hoonigan mechanic's twin-turbo Trans Am is wonderful
Thu, Mar 24 2016What do you drive when you work on rally machines for a living? Probably a Subaru WRX, and that's what Gregg Hamilton had for a while until working on his car felt too much like his day job. So when he moved from New Zealand to the US to work for Ken Block (with a few stops along the way) he bought something entirely different. This is Gregg's 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It's a throwback to another time, but it's anything but stock. It has that magic combination of a big V8 with a manual transmission and rear drive, just like the tin-top racers Gregg watched in his Kiwi youth. He bought it sight unseen from its previous owner in Alabama, and has been tinkering with it ever since. There's something about the flared wheel arches and the classic Firebird gold-striped black livery that has us smitten. Scope out the six-minute clip above from Petrolicious and see if you don't fall for Gregg's Pontiac as well.
