This 1968 Firebird 400 Convertible has gone thru a very extensive restoration over the last 8 years or so. This car just stops people in their tracks. It runs and drives excellent, with the most beautiful exhaust tone you can imagine. I took it to the 750 car show and shine in Roseburg this year, and it took first place out of all of the Camaro's and Firebird's there.

Here is a list of what has been done to the car:

Freshly rebuilt 12 bolt rear end with 3:73 gears and a new Eaton Posi unit

Rust free chassis completely cleaned and painted

All new brake lines with OEM style armor in the bends, New hoses, shoes, pads, Master and Wheel cylinders, etc.

Power Front Disc Brakes

All new front and rear Suspension, air shocks with separate fill lines, and front end components with polyurethane bushings on the front anti-sway bar

Smooth shifting M-21 Muncie 4-speed transmission with excellent clutch

Rebuilt Non-numbers matching 400 engine with Edelbrock Endurashine intake, 6X heads, Edelbrock 600 carb w/ electric choke plus Mallory Unilite distributor and coil

Ceramic Coated Doug's Headers running thru Aluminized 2-1/2" Dual Exhaust with Magnaflow welded mufflers with an 'H' pipe. Exits at the rear bumper with chrome tips. Very well done system, sounds amazing

New Gas Tank, fuel sender, and hard line running to the engine

Very straight body with very nice basecoat/clearcoat paint. Only a few touched up minor chips, and one, pea sized bubble that I would have to point out to you to see it low on the passenger side body

New Hood Tach - works very well

New upholstery, nice console. Carpet has a bit of sun fading, but is very nice

New, high quality material, Power Convertible top. I will have new hydraulic rams put in before the auction ends so it will operate smoothly

All glass in excellent condition

New door and trunk seals, belt line weather-strip, etc.

New 2013 top of the line Sony DSX-S310BTX Digital media receiver running to a Rockford Fosgate Punch 200 amp, powering 4 Infinity Coax speakers

Sunpro oil, water and volt gauges added. Water gauge reads a bit off, but works well

New 2013 Boyd's Junkyard Dog Wheels; 18x8 rear, 18x7 front with a new matched set of Nitto NT550 Extreme ZR Tires; 265 50 18 rear, and 225 45 18 front

Excellent chrome on front and rear bumpers

I may have missed something, so please write me if you want to know anything. Ebay has a link to order an inspection by a third party, and I will help with anything I can. The Firebird will come with a clear, numbers matching, Oregon State Title in my name plus current registration, and of course it is sold "as-is". I will need a 500 dollar deposit by way of Paypal immediately following the auction with the balance due within 5 days by way of cash, cashiers check, or bank transfer. Checks will take two weeks to clear before car can be picked up. Again, write me if you have questions, and Good luck bidding, TJ

Answers to some questions that have been asked:

There is a new Pearl White Top Boot that matches the pearl white interior that is included; I just didn't have it installed when I took the pictures.

The E-brake cable end broke off, so it will need a new cable installed

The trunk Body Dampers (Cocktail shakers) are both there, and I don't see any up front

New body bushings and bolts were also installed when the car was put back together

Burt Reynolds' personal 1977 Trans-Am from Smokey And The Bandit for sale

Fri, Dec 5 2014

Smokey and the Bandit is one of those quintessential 1970s car movies with insane premises but tons of fun. After all, the basic plot of the film is about distracting the police to transport cases of Coors beer cross country. While Burt Reynolds receives top billing, the real star is definitely his black Pontiac Trans-Am. Now, there's a chance to posses one of these muscle machines actually owned by Reynolds, and it's already proving quite popular. The car is a '77 Trans-Am with the famous, gold screaming chicken proudly on the hood. However, while this is a piece of Reynolds memorabilia, it's not really part of cinematic history. According to the listing, this example was used as a promotional vehicle and then given to Reynolds with a title showing him as a previous owner for proof. Still, there's 400-cubic-inch (6.55-liter) V8 under the hood with a 4-barrel carburetor and an automatic transmission. A plaque inside the driver's door proclaims the car as a "1977 Pontiac Trans Am Owned By Burt Reynolds," and there's a Bandit logo on the door. This is just one lot of Julien Auction's sale of Reynolds memorabilia on December 11 and 12 at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV. Bidding is already running online, and the Trans-Am is up to $130,000, as of this writing. For the true Reynolds fanatic, the auction also lists the motorized stagecoach from his wedding to Loni Anderson. It rides built on an International Harvester Scout frame with an interior reportedly from Dolly Parton.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.

Junkyard Gem: 2006 Pontiac Solstice

Wed, Sep 4 2019

The debut of the Pontiac Solstice, back in 2005 for the 2006 model year, stirred up much excitement in the automotive world. Sales were brisk at first, and then they weren't so great… and then Pontiac itself went under The General's cost-cutting axe. One thing I have learned during my junkyard travels is that even sought-after sports cars eventually reach a point at which they start showing up in the big self-service junkyards. For example, the BMW Z3 began appearing in such yards about five years ago, along with the Audi TT. While the Honda S2000 still appears to be exempt from this process, today's Junkyard Gem shows that the time has now come for the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky. The first Z3s and TTs I saw in the U-Wrench-type yards were crash victims, not worth fixing, and that's the case with this Solstice. In a few more years, I'll start seeing the occasional Solstice/Sky discarded due to general worn-outness. Someone grabbed all the undented front body parts and the transmission (these items, presumably, being valuable), but no junkyard shoppers have felt like pulling the non-turbo 2.0-liter Ecotec. The interior seems dirty, probably from exposure to the elements while sitting outdoors in this Colorado Springs wrecking yard, but not in bad shape otherwise. Perhaps the car's owner celebrated a return from Iraq with the purchase of a sporty new Pontiac, 13 years ago. These cars have an enthusiastic following, so I wasn't expecting to see a junked one so soon after production ceased. I felt the same way about the Chrysler Crossfire, however, and I found two of those last year. What's next, a 2002-2005 Thunderbird? This content is hosted by a third party.
