This car is an outstanding example of a low mileage 1988 Fiero GT survivor. There are very few left on the road in this condition. It still turns heads and draws attention when driven because it looks like a brand new car; not a 26 year old sports car. Its mid-engine layout and redesigned Lotus-inspired factory suspension make it the most collectible Fiero model.  This one is Barrett-Jackson auction quality. That is reflected in the asking price. Classic car dealers are asking $13,500 to $14,500 for similar models. I sold my last Fiero GT to a classic car dealer who took it in on trade for a Corvette. This Fiero GT does NOT have the 5 speed manual transmission, the optional rear window defogger, the optional sunroof or the aftermarket T-Top option. The car has a clear California title, but has never been registered or smog-tested here in California. It has been stored in a garage the entire time I've owned it. It has 37,081 original miles.

NO REPORTED ACCIDENTS OR DAMAGE - NO TITLE ISSUES - NO ODOMETER ROLLBACK

ONLY 4,244 STATE DMV-VERIFIED MILES HAVE BEEN REPORTED IN 4 YEARS SINCE 2010

The Good:

The previous owner was a Mustang collector who sold it because he said it was too different from the classic Fords he was accustomed to working on. The car was driven back to Ohio and then transported to the Los Angeles area by flatbed. The only aftermarket equipment is the newer Kuhmo brand radial tires. It is is as close to an original condition survivor that I’ve ever seen. .

* The car has a brand new distributor alternator installed by a Midas dealer, a new K&N air filter, newer Kuhmo tires in the correct factory sizes, new CA-compliant lockable gas cap,  newer Napa battery, new custom Lloyd cloth floor mats with the Fiero logo,  and a new light duty indoor GT car cover.  The tan car cover is still in the plastic bag and has the ‘eyeholes’ needed for cable tie down. This car has been stored in a garage ever since I’ve owned it and the previous owner had commercial grade lifts in his garage to store up to six cars indoors.

* The car has stunning Burgundy dark red original exterior paint that is in outstanding condition.  The paint is extremely shiny and nearly perfect with absolutely no fading or clear coat damage. There are a few very minor scratches on the bumper. It is the best quality original paint I’ve seen on a used Pontiac Fiero GT.

* The car has the original 2.8L V6 engine that runs well. The engine has good performance, but could benefit from a tune-up. The optional 3-speed automatic shifts smoothly and quietly every time. This car drives and handles very well. The buyer will not be disappointed in its performance even though it does not have a V8 engine swap.

* The car has the factory tinted glass all around in outstanding condition. It also has the original Pontiac “GT” plastic rear sail panels in outstanding condition.  There are no cracks, spiderwebs, or fading.  It has the original factory tinted LOF windshield that had a small stone chip on the passenger side that was professionally repaired.  There are no cracks, large chips, or delaminating on the glass.  There are no cracks, spiderwebs, or delaminating on the plastic tail lamp covers either.

1. The pop-up headlights had rebuilt motors when I bought this car.  They go up and down randomly so I’m sure both headlight motors need to be replaced with brand new motors. I’m in the process of doing that myself since replacing those motors can cost up to $400 each at a GM dealer.

2. The interior is almost flawless. This is a non-smoking vehicle and smells like new. The car has the light grey interior. The cloth bucket seats look almost new with no cuts, tears, or stains. The cloth headliner is perfect with no cuts, stains, or drooping.  It also has the original grey factory-style tweed carpeting in outstanding condition, the original tweed factory floor mats, custom spare tire cover, and two brand new custom cloth Lloyd floor mats with the Fiero logo. The original 1988 Pontiac Fiero owner’s manual is included along with a mechanics tool kit. There are two complete sets of GM keys; one is the original.

3. All gages work as they should including the odometer and oil pressure gage. The gas gage has shifted slightly to the right (as usual) but otherwise works fine.  All of the power options also work fine, but the power windows are a little slow due to age. The cruise control was working fine when I bought the car. The A/C works fine but needs to be recharged.

4. The car has the Pontiac black aluminum honeycomb wheels that were so popular in the 1980s rather than custom wheels that reduce its value to a collector. All four wheels are in excellent condition with no curb rash on the chrome rims.  All four tires are in excellent condition in the correct 15" factory sizes.

Maintenance work done by previous owner:

This Fiero GT has always been properly maintained and garaged year round with no exposure to winter or poor weather. The underside is also super clean and rust free. All routine and preventative maintenance has been performed including: A/C system serviced and updated with new compressor and condenser, new heater core, coolant system flushed and refilled with new coolant, new fuel filter, new accessory belts, new oxygen sensor, transmission fluid changed and filter replaced, and new A/C Delco spark plugs and wires.

The Not-So-Good:

1.  The original factory paint is in fantastic condition for its age,  but there are a couple of stone chips in the lower front fascia.  The front plastic license plate bracket is missing. There is a one half inch long scratch on the rear bumper cover and a very faint scratch on the rear wing that I think could be buffed out.

2. The car has Kuhmo radial tires in great condition that have approximately 3,000 miles on them that are as close to factory specs as possible, but they are not brand new.  They are several years old and were installed by the previous owner before I bought this car, so there is no tire warranty.

3.  The car has the factory installed catalytic converter, but it was not originally a California car. I have never had this car smog tested so I’m not sure it would pass California’s extremely strict smog test requirements, even though it is visually in good condition.

4.  I do not have the maintenance records for any of the mechanical work done by previous owners. The maintenance data comes from the historical eBay listing by the previous owner. I do have all maintenance records since I've owned it.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?

DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.

Florida man runs down bikers in traffic

Tue, May 31 2016

A Florida biker and his passenger got a nasty surprise when a road rage incident turned ugly on Monday. According to WTSP, Joe Calderazzo was returning from a Veterans Memorial Day motorcycle rally around 5:30 pm with a group of fellow riders. During their ride, the group got entangled with an overly aggressive driver in a Pontiac. Abe Garcia of Tampa watched the silver Pontiac attempt to run the pack of bikers off the road, which started the altercation. The bikers caught up to the Pontiac in stopped traffic, and a shouting match ensued between the bikers and the Pontiac driver. At this point, Garcia pulled out his phone and started recording. The exchange escalated, and suddenly the Pontiac driver floored it, turned hard to the right, and ran over Calderazzo's Harley. The Pontiac mangled the Harley and knocked Calderazzo and his passenger to the ground. The Pontiac then fled the scene. WTSP spoke to Calderazzo as he was on his way to the hospital. "I thought the guy was trying to kill us obviously," said Calderazzo. "You know you don't know what's going through your mind. Is he going to put the car in reverse? Is he going to turn around? Is he going to stop and pull out a gun? You don't know what's going on." The Pontiac driver, a serial traffic offender named Robert Paul Vance, was picked up by police soon after the incident. He is charged with hit-and-run, a moving traffic violation, and aggravated battery.
