1986 Pontiac Fiero Gt Coupe 2-door 2.8l on 2040-cars
Summerville, South Carolina, United States
Selling a 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT, 90,600 original miles, 3 Speed Automatic. I've owned if for just under a year, after recently having a daughter I'm finding I just don't have the time for it that I thought I would.
- Paint is only a few years old, very few flaws. Looks fantastic - Many interior upgrades - Suspension upgraded - New Rims - Power windows, power locks - JVC KD-HR20, w/ Aux Input, Bluetooth, and Ipod Jack - Freedom 150 Car alarm with remote entry - Power Mirrors (Do not work in all directions, could be as simple as the switch, never got a chance to look into it) - New wiper switch and turn signal stalk (No more phantom wiper swipes) - All new belts - Underdrive crank pully - Rodney Dickman's Idler Pully - Rodney Dickman's decklid strut - Custom glove box, center console door, and arm rest with cupholders - Custom Fiero spare tire cover - Mr. Mikes seat covers - Cruise control works - All gauges work. Fuel gauge doesn't go to full with a full tank, but is accurate below a half tank. - Heat blows hot - AC converted to R134, but not currently working (Worked up until the end of the summer when the compressor clutch would no longer engage. System is holding pressure, but compressor is no longer engaging. Could need a new compressor or could be something simpler, not sure) - Slow oil leak, only a couple drops on the garage over the course of a week (Looks to be coming from the trunk side valve cover. I have a full gasket set) - Window tint on passenger door peeled in the corner. I cut off any loose parts and it isn't coming up anymore, but could stand to be redone. I'll include a Gen 2 headlight motor upgrade, I have the motors, wiring harness and relay. The current Gen 1 motors were rebuilt a year or so ago and both still go up and down everytime. Comes with a California Car Cover. Also including the GM service manual, Haynes and Chilton's manuals and original owner's manual and DIY manual. This is a great car, and I wouldn't hesitate to jump in and drive it anywhere. Recently drove it to Orlando and back and didn't have any issues at all. Like I said I don't have time to really enjoy it, my family and my other hobbies, so something had to give. Clean title, in hand $1000 Due via PayPal within 48 hours of the close of auction. Remaining balance to be paid within 7 days of close of auction. I will accept a certified cashier's check from your bank, or cash in person. Shipping is the buyer's responsibility but I can make sure I am available whenever a shipping company needs me to be. Please contact me with any questions, and if you have an Ebay rating of 0, contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid. Note: Item is for sale locally, and I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time before it ends if it sells locally. |

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners
Fri, 28 Oct 2011This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.
GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
Junkyard Gem: 1964 Pontiac Catalina Custom Ventura
Mon, May 22 2023Like Impala, Skylark, Malibu and Silverado (among many others), the Ventura name began its career as the designation for a trim level or option package used on another GM model, then became a model name in its own right. Initially a designation for a snazzed-up Pontiac Catalina two- or four-door hardtop, the Ventura name moved over to a Pontiac-ized version of the Chevy Nova for 1971. Today's Junkyard Gem, found in a Northern California car graveyard, proudly bears both Catalina and Ventura badging. Actually, the Catalina name itself started out as a trim level for the Chieftain and Star Chief models of the 1950s, just to confuse everybody. By the time this car was built, the Catalina was the cheapest of four Pontiac models built on the same full-size B-Body platform as the big Chevrolets and Olds 88s of the time (the Star Chief, Bonneville and Grand Prix ranked above it on the 1964 Pontiac Prestige-O-Meter). The 1964 Catalina four-door hardtop with the Custom Ventura package offered a lot of swank per dollar, with a price starting at $3,063. That's about $29,821 when converted to inflated 2023 dollars. The main benefit of the Custom Ventura package was an interior done up entirely in Morrokide upholstery. Morrokide was the name GM applied to Naugahyde fake leather when used in Pontiac vehicles; when used in Buicks, it was known as Cordaveen, while Oldsmobile Naugahyde was called Morocceen. Naugahyde took its name from the town of Naugatuck, Connecticut, where it was invented. This car's Morrokide is in rough shape. In fact, everything about this car is decayed and probably infectious. You know to be careful when a junkyard car has warnings about rat feces inked on the glass. That said, I couldn't resist examining the 8-track tapes that littered the interior. Here's Hotel California, the 1976 hit album by the Eagles. Supertramp's Paris, a live album recorded from the 1979 Breakfast in America tour, is here as well. Here's The Best of Carly Simon, from 1975. The tapes were played on this Sparkomatic player, which probably lived in the glovebox or under the seat. The factory radio was AM-only, and includes the frequency markings for the atomic-attack CONELRAD emergency frequencies. 1964 was the last year for mandatory CONELRAD radios in the United States.
