If you have been looking for a muscle car that is as POWERFUL, SAFE and RELIABLE  then look no further.  This 1967 Pontiac Tempest has been gone through mechanically from top to bottom and front to back.  You are going to be getting essentially a NEW car in the skin of a 67 classic.  Everything from the motor, transmission, rear end, brakes, suspension, steering, and cooling system are all new.

First lets start with the heart of the beast:
  • 2001 LS1 motor that is putting down at least 450hp.  The motor has been modified with an LS6 intake, MS4 cam, Titanium valve springs, 36lb injectors, Hedman Headers, ported throttle body, 85mm MAF, custom cold air intake, and a computer Tune by Texas Speed and Performance.  Custom wiring harness.  Motor has approx 110k miles, with about 6k miles with the modifications.
  • 15 gallon fuel cell with sump.  Bosch 044 fuel pump, corvette filter regulator.  All braided stainless fuel line with 6AN fittings.
  • New radiator with 2001 Camaro electric fans
  • Custom 3" exhaust with cutouts dumping into cherry bombs  (its loud)

Backing up the motor:
  • Fully built TH400 that is good for around 900hp.  It has a trans brake, full reverse manual valve body with race clutches to handle a hard launch and still be street able without issue.  
  • Pro-matic II ratchet shifter
  • FTI 3800 stall converter with anti-balloon (if you want to run nitrous) - good for repeated launches in the 850hp range.  
  • 10 bolt rear end fully built with 3.73 gears, Yukon Axles, Eaton Posi Unit

Suspension, Brakes, and Steering:
  • All new front and rear upper lower control arms (boxed in the rear) with new bushings
  • New Hotchkis front and rear springs (lower front about 1.5" and rear about 1")
  • New KYB Adjustable shocks 
  • Front Disc brake conversion (300 miles on them now) with a power brake booster and Disc/Drum proportioning valve
  • New Rear Drum Brakes (about 600 miles on them)
  • New steering center link, idler arm with all new ball joints/bushings
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee steering box (12 to 1 ratio, WAY tighter than the old 16 to 1 original box)

Wheels and Tires:
  • Nitto NT55R drag radials on Rally wheels (15") - Biggest size I could stuff under there
Interior:
  • Excellent condition front and rear seats, no tears/rips or any wear for that matter.  Like brand new
  • Carpet is in good shape
  • New headliner, no rips/tears
  • Aftermarket stereo that looks stock but has iPod hookup in front (from Crutchfield)
  • Tach mounted in stock clock location
  • OBD-II port (I use an adapter that works with my phone for the Torque app)

As you can see the car has been gone through, only things I think are left to do is eventually put new Dakota Digital gauges in the stock location, and replace the rubber around the windows (I have the rubber and it will go with the car).

Junkyard Gem: 2006 Pontiac Solstice

The debut of the Pontiac Solstice, back in 2005 for the 2006 model year, stirred up much excitement in the automotive world. Sales were brisk at first, and then they weren't so great… and then Pontiac itself went under The General's cost-cutting axe. One thing I have learned during my junkyard travels is that even sought-after sports cars eventually reach a point at which they start showing up in the big self-service junkyards. For example, the BMW Z3 began appearing in such yards about five years ago, along with the Audi TT. While the Honda S2000 still appears to be exempt from this process, today's Junkyard Gem shows that the time has now come for the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky. The first Z3s and TTs I saw in the U-Wrench-type yards were crash victims, not worth fixing, and that's the case with this Solstice. In a few more years, I'll start seeing the occasional Solstice/Sky discarded due to general worn-outness. Someone grabbed all the undented front body parts and the transmission (these items, presumably, being valuable), but no junkyard shoppers have felt like pulling the non-turbo 2.0-liter Ecotec. The interior seems dirty, probably from exposure to the elements while sitting outdoors in this Colorado Springs wrecking yard, but not in bad shape otherwise. Perhaps the car's owner celebrated a return from Iraq with the purchase of a sporty new Pontiac, 13 years ago. These cars have an enthusiastic following, so I wasn't expecting to see a junked one so soon after production ceased. I felt the same way about the Chrysler Crossfire, however, and I found two of those last year. What's next, a 2002-2005 Thunderbird? This content is hosted by a third party. Florida man runs down bikers in traffic

A Florida biker and his passenger got a nasty surprise when a road rage incident turned ugly on Monday. According to WTSP, Joe Calderazzo was returning from a Veterans Memorial Day motorcycle rally around 5:30 pm with a group of fellow riders. During their ride, the group got entangled with an overly aggressive driver in a Pontiac. Abe Garcia of Tampa watched the silver Pontiac attempt to run the pack of bikers off the road, which started the altercation. The bikers caught up to the Pontiac in stopped traffic, and a shouting match ensued between the bikers and the Pontiac driver. At this point, Garcia pulled out his phone and started recording. The exchange escalated, and suddenly the Pontiac driver floored it, turned hard to the right, and ran over Calderazzo's Harley. The Pontiac mangled the Harley and knocked Calderazzo and his passenger to the ground. The Pontiac then fled the scene. WTSP spoke to Calderazzo as he was on his way to the hospital. "I thought the guy was trying to kill us obviously," said Calderazzo. "You know you don't know what's going through your mind. Is he going to put the car in reverse? Is he going to turn around? Is he going to stop and pull out a gun? You don't know what's going on." The Pontiac driver, a serial traffic offender named Robert Paul Vance, was picked up by police soon after the incident. He is charged with hit-and-run, a moving traffic violation, and aggravated battery. Classic Pontiac Trans Am Firebird Super Duty 455 sells for nearly $90,000

Historically, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am raised the performance levels a notch or two over a plain Firebird in the muscle car hierarchy of the Sixties. But the Super Duty 455 version of the Trans Am — that number represents the cubic inches of the hand-assembled V8 engine — moved the performance needle big time in 1974. So much so that a clean example of the machine sold recently on the Hagerty Marketplace auction site for $89,296. Advertised with just under 54,000 miles on the clock and having undergone a thorough restoration, the Buccaneer Red model was one of just 943 Pontiac Firebirds equipped with the Super Duty 455 package for the 1974 model year. That build had also been offered in 1973. The Hagerty listing drew more than 21,000 views and 39 bids. According to Hagerty's valuation report, a similar car would be worth $85,700 in good condition, and $103,000 if it was in ‘“concours condition.” The Super Duty motor borrowed technology from the lineÂ’s 366-cubic-inch NASCAR engine, and featured heavy-duty connecting rods and an entirely new block with a revised crankshaft and heads to deliver a claimed 310 horsepower. The Firebird that sold was indeed loaded, with a three-speed Hydra-matic transmission (which surely reduced its overall value), power locks and windows, AC, dual exhausts, heavy duty stabilizer bars all around, and a “custom Interior trimmed in Red perforated Morrokide vinyl upholstery.” The entry of PontiacÂ’s pony car in the U.S., facing off against the Mustang and Camaro, dates back to 1967, when it was offered with an inline six and optional V8. The first Trans Ams were introduced two years later, the name derived from a handling package. General Motors ceased production of new Pontiacs in 2002 owing to declining sales and losing stakes in the sports coupe market. The big 455-cid V-8 had disappeared years earlier.
