CALL CLINT FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THIS BEAUTIFUL PONTIAC
For your consideration is a low production inaugural model 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix. In the era it all began, arguably one of the first factory Hot Rods Detroit produced! Equipped with the factory numbers matching block 389 V8 303 H.P. Hydramatic Automatic Transmission, and Safe-T-Track rear, makes this an extremely rare vehicle. Recently installed is a new Tri Power set up, 3 Dueces, or 3 2bbl carburetors. Included in the sale is the original Carburetor, intake, and Air cleaner assembly. This car is virtually a survivor. It has the original interior, and retains all of its original sheet metal, fenders, quarters, floors, & trunk pan and believed to have only been repainted twice over its 52 year history. It also has optional eight-lug aluminum wheels wrapped in four whitewall tires, with the matching spare, jack, & equipment. Engine Block Stamp reads: 962K2357 (389-303 hp Code 16KJ) DATA PLATE: Style 62-2947 Body BK 1376 Trim Interior: 298 (Blue) Paint CC (Cameo Ivory) Finished in
the original color Cameo Ivory and Blue Interior, this Pontiac has a classic
look and stance. The body and frame are rust free, with no visible issues such as
bubbles, cracks, decay, rust. The engine bay shows very well and finished off
to impress. The undercarriage survived all these years to a factory “Ziebart”
undercoating which still presents very nicely. The original interior shows
great with only minimal wear. The headliner has been replaced at some point over the years. There is a small imperfection on the passenger
side seat which is noted in the photos. All of the gauges, lights, turn
signals, etc are operational and appear to be accurate. The dash retains the
factory radio, but inside the glove box houses a new FM/CD player with Aux Jack
to play your favorite tunes. The chrome and stainless all present very well and
consistent with the quality of the vehicle. The car runs very well straight down the road. Free of stereotypical classic car shimmy's, shakes, vibrations, rattles, etc. Accelerates like a Tri Power and brakes as it should. The odometer shows 17,607 miles. The Florida title shows mileage exempt. I cannot verify if those are true miles. But from a visual inspection of the vehicle, the condition does not show of one with 117,607 miles. Even though the Pontiac resembles the Impala’s of the same era, these Grand Prix’s have distinct differences that make them unique and arguably more collectible. Take notice to the Chief head on the speedometer to indicate High Beams. Or the large Tachometer which is mounted right in the middle of the center console. Just a great design from a decade that produced such innovation. This is a turnkey drive immediately enjoy today driver quality classic automobile. Could not build or restore for the asking price. This Pontiac handles great. Drives straight down the road with a comfortable enjoyable ride. Factory Power Steering adds to the drive-ability factor. Whether you’re looking to win a few trophies at car show, a Sunday driver, or take the family for ice cream, this vintage Pontiac can do it all. I encourage & welcome pre purchase inspections. I will work with your inspector, appraiser, mechanic, etc to make you feel comfortable with your purchase. Vehicle is sold AS-IS, NO Warranties Expressed or Implied. This is a legal binding contract. If you are the winning bidder, you are obligated to complete the purchase. In other words, ask your wife first!! $1,000.00 Deposit due within 24 hours of auction close. Balance due within 7 days of auction close. I urge everyone to take a look at my feedback. Bid with confidence! It was 100% until a few weeks ago, when a malicious ebayer left me negative feedback over a $45.00 die cast model car! Apparently, a windshield wiper was damaged in shipping overseas. I attempted to rectify the situation, but the buyer would not respond or contact me at all, and left me negative feedback! Michigan floods from breached dams consume Pontiac Fiero collection
Thu, May 21 2020“WeÂ’ve never had an event like this,” Michigan's city manager Brad Kaye said in a Detroit News story. "What we're looking at is an event that is the equivalent of a 500-year flood." Kaye is referencing the catastrophic flood that occurred in central Michigan this week after heavy rainfall was compounded by two breached dams on the Tittabawassee River. Reports say the flooding forced evacuation of up to 10,000 residents, swallowed entire towns, and destroyed thousands of properties. No casualties have been reported, according to the Detroit Free Press, but car enthusiasts will be sad to learn a Pontiac Fiero shop and collection called Forever Fieros was decimated by the natural disaster. The Tittabawassee River is located about two hours, or roughly 140 miles, north of Detroit. It starts 20-30 miles further north and flows southeast as a tributary to the Saginaw Bay Watershed. Along the way, the Tittabawassee is held up by several dams, including the Edenville dam that failed and the Sanford dam that was breached during torrential downpours. According to NPR, the federal government took away the Edenville dam's license in 2018 and suggested it could not last through a major flood. Unfortunately, that prediction was proven accurate. Forever Fieros is located in Sanford, Michigan, which is just below Sanford Lake, which is created by the Sanford dam. So when the Edenville dam north of Sanford broke, water from Wixom Lake flooded Sanford Lake, and a berm next to the Sanford dam was overwhelmed, according to MLive. Technically the dam did not fail, but the end result was the same: an entire town underwater. The Tittabawassee reportedly crested at 35 feet, or 10 feet above flood level and 1.1 feet higher than the previous record set in 1986. According to The Drive, the man in charge of Forever Fieros, Tim Evans, had time to attempt to save his vehicles from floodwater. He reportedly moved about 12 cars to a street that doesn't typically flood, but the water level was simply too high for that to matter. A floating pole barn also reportedly struck and damaged the Forever Fieros building. Worsening the situation is the fact that Evans was planning to hold an auction to sell many of the Fieros. As seen on Industrial Bid, he planned to sell 12 Fieros, Fiero GTs and a Fiero Formula, ranging from 1984 through 1988. The lots included a 1984 pace car, a Lamborghini Countach kit car, and a Fiero Cosworth Pontiac Super Duty 16-valve DOHC engine.
Junkyard Gem: 1984 Pontiac Fiero with supercharged 3800 V6 swap
Tue, Dec 31 2019Like the Corvair, the Vega, and the Citation, the Pontiac Fiero was a very innovative machine that ended up causing General Motors more headaches than happiness, and Fiero aficionados and naysayers continue to beat each other with tire irons (figuratively speaking, I hope) to this day. The General has often proved willing to take the occasional big gamble and huge GM successes in engineering prowess (including the first overhead-valve V8 engine for the masses and the first real-world-usable true automatic transmission) and marketing brilliance (e.g., the Pontiac GTO and related John DeLorean home runs) meant that the idea of a mid-engined sporty economy car (or economical sports car) got a shot from the suits on the 14th floor. Sadly, the Fiero ended up being the marketplace victim of too many issues to get into here, and The General pulled the plug immediately after the 1988-model-year suspension redesign that made the Fiero the sports car it should have been all along. But what if the plastic Pontiac had never suffered from the misery of the gnashy, pokey Iron Duke engine and had been built from the start with a screaming supercharged V6 making way better than 200 horsepower? The final owner of today's Junkyard Gem sought to make that very Fiero, by dropping in one of the many supercharged 3.8-liter V6s installed in 1990s and 2000s GM factory hot rods. The first Fieros came out in 1983 for model year 1984, and the only engine available that year was the Iron Duke 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which generated its 92 horsepower with the full-throated song of a Soviet tractor stuck in the freezing mud of a Polish sugar-beet field. The 2M4 badging stood for "two seats, mid-engine, four cylinders," just as the numbers in the Oldsmobile 4-4-2 once represented "four carburetor barrels, four-speed manual transmission, dual exhaust." This car is a top-trim-level SE model, which listed for $9,599 (about $24,200 today). The no-frills Fiero cost just $7,999 that year, making these cars far cheaper than the only other reasonably affordable new mid-engined car Americans could buy at that time: the $13,990 Bertone (aka Fiat) X1/9. The Toyota MR2 appeared in North America as a 1985 model with a base price of $10,999 and promptly siphoned off the car-buying cash from a bunch of potential Fiero shoppers.
Saturn Vue ignition switch leads to new group of GM recalls totaling 312k
Fri, 08 Aug 2014General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary.
Next is 72,826 models worldwide (48,059 vehicles in the US) of the 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore and 2013 Chevy Trax in Canada. It's possible that the for lap belt pretensioner to retract but not to lock, which could increase occupant movement during a crash. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are being replaced, and a stop-sale is in effect on unsold models until the problem is repaired. There are no known crashes or injuries, though.
