Condition - Kelly Blue Book lists the car in Very-Good Condition (Price listing $6,312-$6,137). Car has been well maintained. In October 2012, car had fuel line and gas tank replaced. In December 2012, new tires, brakes and rotaries were put on. In November 2013, complete diagnostic and new power steering pump was added to car. All oil changes and fluid checks have been performed. Current owner will have 100,000 mile check up on car if buyer requests before purchase. Wear and tear to middle counsel;Two known paint chip ares (very small); Bleach stain to rear passenger floor board (easy fix with carpet dye)Only one key; No longer comes with key fob for locking and unlocking door (you will need to order this and have it rewired for car); Anti-theft system is in working order but you will have to use the key to activate and deactivate the alarm.
Features - AC/Heating unit is in excellent working order. Front and rear defrost, cruise control, all safety features for car of this model and make is in working order. Car comes with CD, AM/FM and satellite radio with DVD feature. Car does have a DVD system for rear passengers (I have never used it and it is not currently hooked up to the car system, but it appears that all wires, etc. are included [previous owner installed]). Anti-theft system works, but you will have to use the key to lock and unlock door and to turn on and off alarm. You can have system rewired and configured to new key fob by going to dealership. This car handles smoothly and is a great starter car or for just touring around the island. History - Car Fax is available upon request. Car has had 4 previous owners. Car has been well maintained. Car fax does indicate that the car was in one accident (damage to front left passenger side of car - no further detail available), was a rental car and it was sold at an auction. Previous owner bought it in Kansas City, MO and shipped it to Honolulu, HI. When moved, I believe the owner sold it to MASH. I purchased the car from MASH. (see Condition for maintenance history). Shipping and Payment- Shipping cost is not included in the asking price. If shipping to mainland it is the responsibility of the new owner to schedule and pay for shipping with a local company. I will be more than willing to drive the car to the shipping location. Please note that when shipping a car from Hawai'i to the mainland or other areas, you must have insurance on the car and you most provide proof of insurance. If you are finance purchase of the car from a bank, you must also have the bank to send a letter to the shipper stating that the car is insured and that they are aware that the car is being shipped to a new location. World's only 1964 Pontiac XP-833 Banshee coupe for sale by Kia dealer
Mon, Apr 20 2020It seems like there has been a spate of especially odd car sales in the first part of this especially odd year, from the numerous barn finds and homebrew specials to the time capsule cars — like the BMW wrapped in a protective bubble for 23 years. Napoli Kia in Milford, Connecticut, brings us another, via Motor1. Len Napoli is the dealership principal and die-hard Pontiac maven; his father opened Napoli Pontiac in 1958, and Len held onto the franchise until the early 2000s, just before GM shuttered the brand that built excitement. Napoli got hold of the 1964 Pontiac Banshee XP-833 coupe concept, and put the car up for sale through his Kia dealership for $750,000. The exceptional price comes from the fact that Pontiac built two Banshee concepts in 1964, one this silver coupe with a red interior, the other a white roadster, making each concept a one-of-one collector car.   Motor Trend wrote a detailed piece on this one in 2013, the editorial tour hosted by Bill Collins, the Banshee's lead engineer. The short story is that GM exec John Z. DeLorean — yes, him — gave approval to a small crew at Pontiac to create a two-seater sports car to compete with the Mustang, because GM had nothing to fend off the four-seat coupe that would sell one million units in just 18 months on the market. Collins and his team took inspiration from the 1963 Corvair Monza GT concept, working up a fiberglass body over a steel frame, with a 230-cubic-inch overhead-cam straight-six producing 165 horsepower and 216 pound-feet of torque, a four-speed manual transmission, and 9.5-inch drum brakes at all corners. The idea was that the XP-833 would be "an affordable and fun two-seat sports car," the concept demonstrating the base-model price leader offering a lengthy list of options for those who wanted more. The white roadster, in fact, fitted a 326 cubic-inch V8 under the hood. Rumor says that Chevrolet execs didn't like having another two-seater sports car in the GM fold, especially one with a fiberglass body that held weight down to 2,200 pounds. GM execs took one look at the two concepts in 1965 and shut the project down. The two XP-833s lived in a garage for years, Collins and his colleague Bill Killen getting permission to buy the cars from GM in 1973 before Collins left to help engineer the DeLorean DMC-12. It wasn't until just before Collins departed that the XP-333 got the name Banshee.
Pontiac should come back as a performance division for GM
Thu, Apr 6 2017For decades the Pontiac brand was known as GM's performance brand. From the 1964 Pontiac GTO, to the 1967 Firebird, to the 1984 Fiero, to the 2006 Solstice Turbo, and 2009 G8 GXP, Pontiac had a reputation for building exciting cars, with bold styling and performance to back it up. When the Camaro was killed off in 2002, the Pontiac Firebird died off with it, and the last Pontiacs were built in early 2010. But with names like G3, G4, and G6, Pontiac's performance image had long faded from it's earlier glory days. My idea for Pontiac's revival would be to bring it back as a dedicated performance marque similar to Chevy's Super Sport (SS) line up of years past. First, and most obvious would be to bring back the Pontiac Firebird. Offering the entry-level model with the Camaro's 275HP turbo 4 cylinder engine, then having the Camaro SS's 455HP V8, but also offering a halo model Trans Am that is a revamped Camaro ZL-1 along with it's tire-shredding 650HP, supercharged V8 and race tuned suspension. Secondly, I would bring back the GTO. Which I would base on the current Chevy SS, but I would use the full 455-horsepower LS4 V8 (rather than the 415-hp setup that it has now). Furthermore, I would add the impressive 650-hp supercharged V8 to provide real competition to the Charger Hellcat. Importantly, I would make sure that the new GTO had bold, distinctive styling that really set it apart. I understand that purists would want any Pontiac GTO to be a two-door coupe, but I think that they could forgive that if the new GTO was an outstanding American performance car. Next, I would take the Buick Cascada convertible, add much bolder styling, swap in the Camaro's 275-hp turbo engine, and tune up the suspension to provide more performance than luxury (without being harsh). And finally I would round out the line up by using the new 2018 Traverse , but use the new, bold Pontiac design language to spice up the model's looks, tweak the engines for more power, and again provide a performance suspension that matches the model's new sporty looks. Obviously, having a high performance Pontiac model line up would steal away some sales from Chevy, Buick, and Cadillac models. But I think that it would more than make up for this by also stealing away sales from competing brands. Junkyard Gem: 1988 Pontiac LeMans Sedan
Tue, Feb 7 2017During the 1960s, the Pontiac LeMans was a sporty, rear-wheel-drive midsize car, the GTO's cheaper sibling. Through the 1970s and into the middle 1980s, the LeMans became a bit less youthful-looking but remained a traditional rear-wheel-drive Detroit machine with a V8 engine option. Then, starting in the 1988 model year, the LeMans name went onto a South Korean-built version of the misery-inducing, front-wheel-drive Opel Kadett E. These were dark days for the Pontiac marque; here's the proof, photographed at a San Francisco Bay Area self-service wrecking yard last month. This one didn't quite make it to the 100,000-mile mark. These cars were very, very cheap and sold reasonably well, but nearly all of the 1988-1993 LeManses are hatchbacks.
