1963 Pontiac Grand Prix on 2040-cars

Year:1963 Mileage:82799
Location:

Carroll, Iowa, United States

For sale here is a good running 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix.  Has a very strong and smooth sounding 389 V-8 with an automatic transmission and console shift.  The brakes are pretty good.  Tilt steering wheel.  Factory vaccum tach.  This '63 GP has the fairly rare factory A/C.  The compressor does turn nicely and all of the belts are on and appear to be in good shape.  All of the A/C componets are there.  The system may work, I have not tried it.  This one also has power seat and power windows.  The power windows work well except the driver's door window.  The car has nice white-letter radials on it and and nice-looking 8-lug rims.

The body is very good with the exception of the driver's rear quarter panel and trunk floor.  There are a few rust through spots on the trunk floor and also some on the rear floor pan.  The rear floor pan can be nively repaired and the balance of the floor is really quite good as seen in the photos.  I have extra underside photos if you need to see them.  A driver's side quarter repair panel (full-length,new) will be included.  The chrome is good and the stainless is also good.  Nice glass and the rockers (in and outer) are good and solid.  I have nearly all of the trim missing in the photos.  Missing: passenger's door panel chrome strip, passemger's side "Grand Prix" lettering, 1 rocker outside molding, 1 vent window crank.  These are the missing pieces to the best of my knowledge.

New carpet will be needed.  One of the headliner panels will need to be resewn at the seam.  The dash is very nice and the guages are clear.  The starter switch was bypassed with a button on the lower dash.  The seats and door panels are original and in great condition.  It will need some wiring hooked up for lights and guages.

This very sharp looking '63 Grand Prix starts right up and revs strong.  This is a great one to further along while you drive.  This one can be a truly impressive cruiser with just a little work.  These 63's are getting hard to find in this condition.  I will consider trades.

Please feel free to ask questions.  Sold in as-is condition.  Personal inspection is available.

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge vs. 2006 GTO, which Goat gets your vote?

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
