Wow! Very Rare Post Coupe 1966 Gto California Car! Full Frame Off Resto! on 2040-cars
Taunton, Massachusetts, United States
HELLO AND THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO VIEW MY GTO! THIS CAR HAS BEEN TOTALLY TAKEN APART AND RESTORED WITH THE UTMOST DETAIL. I BOUGHT IT TWO YEARS AGO AND REMOVED EVERY NUT AND BOLT ON IT! A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A PLATING COMPANY SO I WAS ABLE TO HAVE EVERY NUT AND BOLT ORIGINAL TO THE CAR REPLATED. I KNOW THIS IS EXTREME FOR THE AVERAGE RESORER, HOWEVER I GOT IT DONE AND WAS DOING IT FOR MY OWN PERSONAL COLLECT. AS IT TURNS OUT, I HAVE A DEBT I HAVE TO PAY AND THE CAR HAS TO GO. YES MY LOSS YOUR GAIN. IM PUTTING THIS OUT THERE EVEN WITH A FEW THINGS THAT ARE STILL NEEDED TO BE DONE. AS YOU CAN SEE, THE CAR IS ALMOST 100% BUT NEEDS THE FOLLOWING TO BE DONE OF WHICH I CAN STILL COMPLETE FOR THE BUYER. REAR BUMPER, EXHAUST SYSTEM, AIR CONDITIONING TO BE CHARGED, FRONT END ALIGNMENT, ARM RESTS TO BE INSTALLED. IM PLACING THE CAR ON HERE NOW TO TEST THE WATERS AND FIND A POTENTIAL BUYER. I WILL CONTINUE TO WORK ON IT AND MOST COULD BE DONE WHEN IT DOES SELL. THE CAR HAS THE P.H.S. DOCUMENTATION AS WELL AS ITS ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA TITLE WITH IT. IT HAS THE SMOG PUMP AND ALL OF ITS ORIGINAL FACTORY ITEMS IT WAS BORN WITH! I LEFT THE WHEELS ON IT AS IT DATES THE CAR TO THE ALL AMERICAN MUSCLE CAR IT WAS BACK IN THE LATE 60 AND EARLY 70S! I DO HAVE THE ORIGINAL HUB CAPS AS WELL AS THE SPARE IN THE TRUNK. THE CAR DOES RETAIN ALL OF ITS ORIGINAL BODY PARTS THAT IT WAS BORN WITH! THE TRUNK FLOOR WAS REPLACED AS IT WAS RUSTY DUE TO THE TRUNK MAT STILL IN THE CAR AND HOLDING WATER. I BOUGHT A TRI POWER SET UP FOR IT, BUT THE CAR WAS SO ORIGINAL AND ALL FACTORY I DIDNT HAVE THE HEART. IF THE HIGH BIDDER WANTS THE TRI POWER, I WILL OFFER IT TO HIM FIRST! LASTLY, I WILL CONSIDER AN OFFER OF WHICH WOULD INCLUDE AS PARTIAL PAYMENT AS IM ONLY SELLING THE CAR TO PAY OFF SOME BILLS. IM INTERESTED IN MOST CARS SO LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR UNFINISHED PROJECT IS. MOSTLY INTERSTED IN A BODY GM MUSCLE CAMAROS, 442S, GTOS! ETC. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL BIDS WITH NEUTRAL OR EXCESSIVE NEGETIVE FEEDBACK UNLES YOU CONTACT ME FIRST. I WILL POST THE CAR LOCALLY AND WILL ALSO INCLUDE, I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END ANY OF MY AUCTIONS. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS! 617-686-8800 THANKS AGAIN FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK BIDDING! the motor is CORRECT MATCHING NUMBERS! all original even the starter is original as well as the altenator. all the a/c stuff is factory original! the carb also and still has the tag on it! good luck bidding and call with any questions! john 617-686-8800 |

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT
Fri, 10 Oct 2014The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP
Tue, Jun 19 2018For General Motors, the W platform just kept giving and giving and giving for decade after decade, serving as the basis of Buick Regals, Oldsmobile Intrigues, Chevrolet Monte Carlos, and many, many more models. The final and most powerful Pontiac W-Body, the sixth-generation Grand Prix GTP, rolled off assembly lines for the 1997 through 2003 model years. Here's one in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard. GM bolted the supercharged 3800 V6 into vast numbers of cars during this era, providing a deep reservoir of cheap blowers for unwise high-boost projects. 240 front-tire-charring horses, complete with a Roots-type blower scream from the Eaton supercharger under the hood. I see plenty of blown 3800s during my junkyard travels, from the Bonneville SSEi to the Oldsmobile LSS. Depressingly, GM stopped putting manual transmissions in the Grand Prix during the 1993 model year, so '01 GTP owners had to take the four-speed slushbox. This one came close to the magic 200,000-mile mark, but fell 25,000 short. The interior took a beating during its life, ending its time on the road with shredded upholstery and dirty panels. Seven-band graphic equalizers were all the rage during the 1980s, but GM kept the tradition alive into our current century. This content is hosted by a third party. The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top.
