Up for sale is my 2004 Pontiac GTO. Nice car needing a new home as I need to finish up a few around the house projects so something has to go....

I purchased this car from the person that fixed the damage that was caused by an inexperienced driver on wet roads. The person spun around on the blacktop and slid into another vehicle. Damage was done to the left front corner of the car. They replaced the left fender, inner fender, bumper cover and purchased a functional ram air hood at the same time. Very nice addition. The air bags did NOT deploy. After it was repaired,it was inspected at Vehicle Safety in Albany,NY and was issued a clean bill of health. It has been driven for 3 years since with no issues. It hasn't been driven in the Winter.......
The body is in good shape for the year. It has a few scuffs and paint chips from normal wear but NO RUST!! Underneath is very clean also........Paint shines nice. The interior is in nice shape with just normal wear. No holes in the seats, etc. and it is clean and free from odors,etc......non-smoker car. Has a Pioneer DVD/CD player with navigation but that's the only thing changed....even has original floor mats. It is fully loaded and all options work.
The GTO has 87kmi. on it and will go up until it's sold. I drive it every day and have put 9,000 miles on it in the last few months! It's very reliable and comfortable to drive! Good on gas as well!!! The LS1 engine runs perfect with plenty of power and no leaks, noises, etc. The 6 speed shifts good and there are no unusual noises in the drivetrain. Car has long tube headers and catless mid pipes so it sounds good but not loud....Only other mods are the ram air hood and cold air intake kit.....The brakes are slotted and drilled rotors and just developed a slight pulsation when applied at higher speeds.......alot of pad left but may need to have the rotors turned? That's the only mechanical issue that I can think of that may need attention. It has always had Mobil 1 synthetic oil changes.........The GTO is fun to drive!!
Buyer to pay a non-refundable deposit of $500 within 48 hours of sale, immediately with Buy It Now option. Balance is due within 5 days of sale. I accept Paypal,mo's or cash in person. Bank checks are fine also but car stays here until all payments clear..........NO EXCEPTIONS to these terms!!!
If you are local, stop by and check it out in person. I am in Queensbury,NY 12804. Exit 18 off I 87....45miles North of Albany.  Buyer is responsible for picking up the car or having it shipped. I will arrange to meet the shipper if needed. The vehicle is described to the best of my ability and is sold AS IS......

Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

Tue, Jun 19 2018

For General Motors, the W platform just kept giving and giving and giving for decade after decade, serving as the basis of Buick Regals, Oldsmobile Intrigues, Chevrolet Monte Carlos, and many, many more models. The final and most powerful Pontiac W-Body, the sixth-generation Grand Prix GTP, rolled off assembly lines for the 1997 through 2003 model years. Here's one in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard. GM bolted the supercharged 3800 V6 into vast numbers of cars during this era, providing a deep reservoir of cheap blowers for unwise high-boost projects. 240 front-tire-charring horses, complete with a Roots-type blower scream from the Eaton supercharger under the hood. I see plenty of blown 3800s during my junkyard travels, from the Bonneville SSEi to the Oldsmobile LSS. Depressingly, GM stopped putting manual transmissions in the Grand Prix during the 1993 model year, so '01 GTP owners had to take the four-speed slushbox. This one came close to the magic 200,000-mile mark, but fell 25,000 short. The interior took a beating during its life, ending its time on the road with shredded upholstery and dirty panels. Seven-band graphic equalizers were all the rage during the 1980s, but GM kept the tradition alive into our current century. This content is hosted by a third party. GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

Junkyard Gem: 1997 Pontiac Sunfire SE Convertible

Sun, Mar 5 2023

For the entire 24-year production run of the GM J platform (best known for the Chevrolet Cavalier), the Pontiac Division offered new J-Body cars for sale in the United States. First there was the J2000, followed in quick succession by the 2000, 2000 Sunbird and Sunbird. The Sunbird stuck around until the Cavalier got a major redesign for the 1995 model year, at which point Pontiac changed the car's name to Sunfire. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those early Sunfires, a top-of-the-line SE convertible with the optional big engine and manual transmission. The Sunfire was an extremely close sibling to the same-year Cavalier (by the late 1980s, all the other US-market GM divisions had dropped their J-cars, which meant no more Skyhawks, Cimarrons or Firenzas), quite difficult to distinguish from its near-twin at a glance. The base engine for the 1997 Sunfire convertible was the pushrod 2.2-liter straight-four that powered so many J-bodies of the 1990s. That engine produced just 120 gnashing, valve-floating horsepower, not much by late-1990s standards. For a mere 450 additional dollars, however, the 2.4-liter Twin Cam engine and its high-revving 150 horses could be had by '97 Sunfire buyers. That's what's in this car. This is one of the members of the Oldsmobile Quad 4 family, though some fanatics will yell at you if you apply that name to the versions that don't have big QUAD 4 lettering cast into the valve cover. This is the most powerful engine ever used in production Sunfires. For 1997, Pontiac offered a four-speed automatic transmission for no extra cost in the Sunfire convertible. Buyers of all other Sunfire models that year had to shell out either $550 or $810 ($1,026 or $1,511 in 2023 dollars) for a two-pedal rig. That means that the buyer of this car really wanted the five-speed manual transmission (or just hungered for the $810 credit offered in the fine print for takers of the manual). Plenty of free-breathing engine power, five-on-the-floor driving enjoyment and the open skies above. What a fun car! This one made it to nearly 180,000 miles. For this car with the Quad 4 under the hood and a clutch pedal on the floor, the MSRP was $18,539 (about $34,584 today). Its Cavalier LS convertible twin with the same engine/transmission setup cost $17,365 ($32,394 now). This car has a bunch of options, including the 15" Rally aluminum wheels, so the out-the-door price would have been higher. The last year for the Sunfire was 2005, same as the Cavalier.
