This amazing 1970 GTO Judge Convertible-tribute
Coming out of a private collection. The 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge was one of the most
potent muscle cars of the era, and surely one of the most outrageous in terms
of styling. There were approximately 37 real 1970 GTO judge Convertibles with
the powerful 455 built. With bright colors, stripes, and a rear wing, it gave
the Judge a unique look that was backed by equally stunning performance. But
with prices for real Judge convertibles running in $100,000.00’s the
outstanding tributes are a great value.
New red seat covers, door panels, along with new carpet and carpet custom GTO logo floor mats that match the red carpet gives her the “new car look”. The dash offers three deeply recessed instruments, but there's no tach because it is mounted out front on the hood ………the most desirable Judge option of all! This
stunning Judge Convertible has its factory installed “ice cold ” A/C! She has the original AM/FM push button radio in the engine-turned dash as well as a custom designed and installed multiple speaker and sub-woofer hidden in the trunk high powered surround system. The head unit and volume subwoofer control in hidden in the glove box and the power amp and sub-woofer are custom installed in the side trunk panels. She adorns
a brand new factory black power convertible top/glass rear window and has the factory boot. Performance is effortless thanks to Pontiac's
muscular 1970 455 cubic inch V8, which specializes in torque production. From
the Ram Air hood scoops to the Pontiac Turquoise paint on the block, this one
has been factory detailed correctly, and the condition of all the under hood
components displays that the work is not only high-quality, but recently done. Power steering and power disc brakes are included,
and there's a tough TH400 3-speed automatic transmission behind the engine
handling gear swaps. The floors
are nicely finished with satin black paint, not undercoating, so there's
nothing to hide, and both the gas tank and exhaust system are brand new. It
rolls on correct Pontiac Rally II wheels and fat fire Hawk Indy 500 radials! Highlights: Recent
restoration on this stunning 1970 Judge Convertible in striking Cardinal Red
combination….. With NEW matching Red interior! The car received an
extensive restoration and presents a beautiful presentation with great
attention to “factory appearing originality”.

Details The
restoration was completed on a rust free car and has always been kept in a garage. The paint is nice with a few flaws and imperfections that
don’t show up in the pictures. It does shines like a mirror. The
chrome and stainless are beautiful! The
Pontiac 455 “date coded” engine (NOM) is fresh and runs very strong. The
engine bay is highly detailed and its appearance is factory correct. It
is fitted with factory exhaust manifolds. All new plug wires, new battery,
hoses and belts have been added. It rides on correct Pontiac Rally II rims in
excellent condition with new BF Goodrich T/A radials. The matching Red interior is new…..vinyl, carpets, door panels, sport steering wheel, etc. There are no cracks in the dash or steering wheel. The car starts drives and handles amazing and “tracks straight as an arrow. It is mechanically very sound and I can see no evidence of it ever being wrecked. The
correct pattern black convertible top is “brand new” and installed with the “glass
rear window”. Underneath
is very nice and clean including new front disc brakes & lines, exhaust
system and the new 323 posi differential. The frame is excellent.
All the glass is very nice, all the gauges, lights, wipers, turn signals, horn all
work as designed. The panel fit on the fenders and doors is
excellent. The trunk is detailed. The rims are in great condition
and the tires are like new. The 1970 GTO Judge Convertibles are the most sought after muscle car and in this color combination and the quality of the restoration, represents an excellent value for the asking price. I encourage you to come see it and test drive this car or just call me for a phone walk around.

Junkyard Gem: 1980 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ
Sat, Mar 4 2023A couple of years before John DeLorean and his team at the Pontiac Division created the GTO by pasting a big engine and some gingerbread on the LeMans, they created a rakish, powerful coupe based on the staid full-size Catalina. This was the 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix, which sold like crazy and escalated the personal luxury coupe war already brewing in Detroit. Starting with the 1969 model year, the Grand Prix switched to a smaller chassis (shared the following year with the new Chevrolet Monte Carlo), and all subsequent rear-wheel-drive Grand Prix (that is, through 1987) remained siblings of the Monte. Today's Junkyard Gem is a rare 1980 Grand Prix LJ, found in a self-service yard near Reno, Nevada. Sure, a fresh round of Middle East conflict had put a kink in America's fuel hose in 1979, leading to gas lines and a general sense of malaise, but at least the new Grand Prix looked extra sharp for 1980. The LJ package came with all sorts of appearance and comfort goodies, including these "luxury seats with loose-pillow design in New Florentine Cloth." A Pontiac Phoenix LJ was available as well. These seats must have been very comfortable when new. Who needed a Cadillac when Pontiac would sell you this car at a base MSRP of just $7,000 (about $26,704 in 2023 dollars)? That price was what you paid if you were willing to get the base 3.8-liter Buick V6, though. To get a V8 engine with four-barrel carburetor, you had to pay extra. If you did pay the extra for a V8, which one you got depended on which state you lived in; in California, you got this 305-cubic-inch (5.0-liter Chevrolet small-block), and in the other 49 states you got a 301-cubic-inch (4.9-liter) Pontiac. The 305 was rated at 150 horsepower with 230 pound-feet; the 301 made 140hp and 240 lb-ft. This car was originally bought in California (the state line is about ten miles away from its final parking spot), so it has the Chevy engine. The V8 added $195 (plus $250 for the California-only emissions system) to the out-the-door price of the car, or about $1,316 in 2023 dollars. Outside of California, a 4.3-liter Chevy V6 was available for just 80 additional bucks ($305 now). All 1980 Grand Prix got a three-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment, with no manual available from the factory. This car has the optional air conditioning, which cost $601 ($2,293 after inflation). This is the "Custom Sport" steering wheel, which was standard on the LJ. The tilt option cost $81 ($309 today).
Porsche Syberia RS rally car is what you make when you need a Hummer that's fast
Fri, Apr 24 2020Some history: The Porsche 911's first-ever race was the 1965 Monte Carlo rally, entered because Porsche's PR man at the time wanted to show how much the future icon could do. A year later, Porsche began selling an optional rally kit for the 911 that included Recaro seats, a roll bar, and adjustable Koni dampers. Porsche produced factory rally racers until the early 1970s, winning Monte Carlo three times in a row before letting privateers carry the torch so the factory could focus on campaigning in the East Africa Safari. After years of painful lessons, when Porsche took its brand-new 1978 911 SC to the safari, the 3.0-liter flat-six coupe was hours away from winning the race before damaging the suspension, demoting the car to second place. Porsche fans wanted their own replicas, and finding the new 911 to be an affordable option, the SC — built from 1978 to 1983 — went from denoting "Super Carrera" to "Safari Car."  Porsche took a big step up in with the 953 rally car. Built to win the 1984 Paris-Dakar, which it did, the 953 introduced the four-wheel-drive system Porsche would evolve for the 959 in 1985 and the 964-series 911 in 1989, as well as the now-unforgettable 911-based Rothmans livery. All of this is what's fueling today's 911 Safari Car revival around the world. Almost all of today's builds start with the so-called G Model 911s, produced from 1973 to 1989, usually focusing on the SC and the Carrera that ran from 1984 until 1989. Fast forward to 2007 when a mysterious crew organized the TransSyberia Rally, a "sports-touring" event that stretched 4,500 miles from Moscow to the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar. Of the 34 vehicles that entered, 25 were Porsche's purpose-built Cayenne S Transsyberia Edition. Put this all in a pot and you have the beginnings of the car that brings us here, the Syberia RS. It's said that a German fellow by the name of Kai Burkhard wanted to buy a Humvee, but the low top speed, around 50 miles per hour, put him off. So instead, he imported a 1986 911 "in collector condition" from Japan with the idea of rebuilding it to provide almost all the off-road fun he could have had in the H1. Burkhard tapped the Tailor Made department at German suspension designer H&R, and the two set to work creating a build like the 953 Dakar winner. This content is hosted by a third party. Junkyard Gem: 2002 Pontiac Aztek
Sat, Apr 17 2021The General's Pontiac Division sold the Aztek for the 2001 through 2005 model years, and — despite enjoying something of a cultural rebirth in recent years — it is generally considered to be one of the worst cars of all time. The idea of using a minivan platform as the basis for a rough-and-tough-looking crossover with plenty of outdoor-lifestyle amenities wasn't the problem, since many vehicle manufacturers have printed bales of money using that formula. What doomed the Aztek was its hideous appearance and sticker price too lofty for its underemployed-at-the-time Generation X target demographic. Still, the Aztek proved to be perfectly suited for the outdoor activities that Coloradans love: hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, hauling mud-caked golden retrievers around, etc., and so you'll still find lots of Azteks on the roads of the Centennial State. Here's an Aztek Yellow Aztek (yes, that's really the paint color's official title) residing just a few rows from a '76 Checker Taxicab in a Denver self-service yard. Sure, it does look like a vehicle built to the specifications of a six-year-old who decreed a mashup between a Datsun F-10 and a Fisher-Price Little People Travel Together Airplane, but so what? There's a built-in air compressor to blow up your inflatable rafts and volleyballs, a tent attachment that turns the rear of the van into a camper, 12-volt power plugs all over the vehicle (years before this became commonplace on ordinary minivans and SUVs), and running-gear commonality with a jillion Ventures, Silhouettes, Montanas and Trans Sports. Buick managed to de-uglify the Aztek (somewhat) and sold it as the Rendezvous through 2007, but the Aztek never could win over many people with this face. I see plenty of Azteks and Rendezvouses in Denver-area wrecking yards, and I've documented a handful over the years. This one came fully loaded from the factory, with the Corvette-style heads-up display in full effect. The center console was a removable cooler, which was a great idea Â… except for the fact that this cooler holds five standard 12-ounce cans. Michigan residents tell me that this must have been intentional on the part of the Detroit-based Aztek designers, because Michiganders are expected to chug one beer out of a sixer as they walk from the liquor store to the car in the parking lot Â… which makes me extra cautious whenever I'm driving in the Wolverine State.
