Up for sale is my 1970 GTO Verdoro Green. I have owned this almost 10 years now and am thinking it is time for a new toy. This car was originally fro California which I believe is why it is so clean. It has a non numbers matching drivetrain but the block is a WT 400 1970 block. The heads are #12 heads with hardened valve seats. Cam specs, duration 298/303, Lift .466/.488. CompCams roller rockers 1.65 ratio. It has an eagle crank and eagle rods with BRC pistons that have been dished to lower the compression to 9.5 to 1 so it runs good on pump gas. Also the rotating assembly was balanced, Heads have been mildly ported and the intake was gasket matched. it has a 750 quadrajet carb that has been gone thru to feed this monster. Engine only has about 2000 miles since it was rebuilt. This car is incredibly fast and really puts you back in the seat but to look under the hood it looks pretty stock except for the headers and air cleaner. I do syill have the original air cleaner that will go with the car, I also still have the California emissions charcoal canister that the car came with. Right now it still has the original 10 Bolt open rear end but I have a 12 bolt posi rear with 373 gears which I will let go with the car for an additional $500. The interior is near perfect, The body is very nice but the paint is 10 years old so it is not perfect. It has a scratch in the drivers side rear quarter a small dent in the passenger door and the nose has the typical cracks that the endure nose is prone to. See the pics for all of this I have tried to show all of this. Under the hood is very clean as is under the car which was all cleaned and painted about 8 years ago. Mechanically the car is perfect but could use a frontend alignment it does not pull and has no play but the steering is easier then it should be so I think it could use an alignment. It has a new clutch and pressure plate installed this year. Headers are Hooker super comps and the exhaust is 2.5" from pypes. This car was originally a 3 speed manual but at some point someone installed a Muncie 4 speed which works great. Tha radiator is a 4 core and was replaced about 4 years ago. The gas tank was replaced about 5 years ago. Car original had manual drum brake but I converted it to power front discs, after I did this I never had the alignment done so this is why I know it needs one. car had a hot start issue on those hot summer day which is common in Pontiac so I installed thicker gauge battery cables and a high torque mini starter from summit racing. This car starts right up every time and runs perfect, I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere. I have set a reserve because I do not want not give it away however you could not build this car for what my reserve is. Car is for sale locally also so I can end auction at any time if it sells. Short videos follow these links http://youtu.be/CUC3bG8UUSo and http://youtu.be/oErP1u-kZBk If you have any questions pleas don't hesitate to ask. buyer is responsible for shipping of vehicle however I will assist as much as possible on my end.

Another Burt Reynolds Trans Am is up for auction
Wed, Jan 18 2017Fans of Smokey and the Bandit, your car has arrived. This Saturday, January 21, Barrett-Jackson will auction a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am clone that, while not originally in the movie, was owned and signed by the Bandit himself, Burt Reynolds. Not only that, but it packs many modifications that should make this Pontiac drive the way we all imagined it did. This is a Trans Am clone, not an original. The car was built by Nebraska company Restore A Muscle Car, and started life as a lowly Firebird Formula. However, the company brought it up to Trans Am grade and beyond. Under the hood is a fuel-injected 8.2-liter V8 from Butler Performance that Restore A Muscle Car says produces 600 horsepower. Coupled to the big V8 is a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. There's even Hurst line-lock on-board, so this Trans Am should be perfect for on-demand burnouts. The car also comes with QA1 coil-over suspension, so it should corner better than the original, too. The outside looks roughly like a stock Trans Am, but it now has 18-inch wheels styled after those from the movie car, and the shaker scoop says "8.2" on each side. View 5 Photos In 2014, a 1977 Trans Am owned by Reynolds sold for a whopping $450,000. That car wasn't an actual movie car either, and lacked the modifications of this one. However, it was used as a promotional car and was given to Reynolds, so it did have some history with the film. This upgraded car is listed in the Barrett-Jackson catalog as "no reserve," so it's going home with a new owner on Saturday, regardless of price. Related Video:
The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. Junkyard Gem: 2010 Pontiac G6
Sat, Sep 12 2020What makes a discarded car a gem? Sometimes it's a car we all agree is very cool, and other times it's a car that tells us something about automotive history. Today's Junkyard Gem is the latter type: one of the very last Pontiacs sold, before The General shut out the lights forever on the storied marque after 84 years. The G6 was Pontiac's Epsilon-platform-based car, sibling to the Chevy Malibu, Saturn Aura, and Saab 9-3 (plus a bunch of Europe-only machinery). The very last Pontiac ever built was a white 2010 G6 sedan like this one (all '10 G6s were sedans, the coupe and convertible having been nixed in 2009), though that car was built in January of 2010 and this one came off the line in July of 2009. They build Bolts at the Orion Assembly plant these days. The higher-zoot G6s came with V6s or even V8s, but this car has "fleet machine" written all over it and has the base 2.4-liter Ecotec four-banger making 164 horsepower. Pontiac shoppers in the United States could buy the Vibe as a 2010 model as well, while Mexican Pontiac dealerships also sold new G2s (known as the Spark here) that year. The G6 was The Final Pontiac, though, bookending a run that began with the 1926 Pontiac Six. This one will go to its grave with the original owner's manual still inside. Even the cheapest 2010 G6s came with an AUX jack for the radio, a feature that was still maddeningly hard to find in rental cars a decade ago. This content is hosted by a third party.
