1967 Pontiac Convertible on 2040-cars
Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, United States
Crossing the auction block is a frame-off restored 1967 GTO Convertible. This car has been in my family from day one! My brother bought this car in August of 1967 and gave it to me in the Spring of 1994. I did a frame-off restoration in 2006. New floor boards and trunk boards as well as a replacement frame highlight this total restoration. Since then, I put approximately 3,000 miles on the car. This GTO has all the documentation to show that is was born a GTO in Pontiac, Michigan in the Spring of 1967. I have all the manuals including the all important protect-o-plate . In addition, I have the original order form and invoice for the purchase of this car. On the order form the salesman wrote, $10 Deposit ! Those were the days....In addition to my documentation, I have the PHS docs that include a copy of the build sheet and window stickers. This car was delivered to Jo-Duke Pontiac in Arnold, PA. My brother took delivery of his GTO at Clark Pontiac in Wilkinsburg, PA (outside of Pittsburgh, PA) on August 5, 1967. The original color of this GTO was Signet Gold with a factory gold interior. This combination is extremely rare as most of the Signet Gold GTO'S had a black interior. I kept the integrity of this car by painting it Signet Gold and installed a gold interior like the original. This GTO is a numbers matching car with a 400 cubic inch engine generating 335 horse power. The Hurst Four Speed shifter is original. The engine had a complete overhaul and runs very strong. The exhaust system is by Flowmaster. I have four Redline Coker Radials mounted on Rally One Wheels. The Rally Ones and Redlines were an option in 1967 although my brother did not upgrade the wheels . He had the full slotted hubcaps on this car. I took the liberty to put the redlines and Rally Ones on. After the restoration, This GTO was accepted into the AACA Muscle Car Display at the Hershey Automobile Museum in Hershey, PA. I would be happy to answer any questions and provide specific photos upon request. There are no warranties with this car implied or otherwise. I would require a $1000 Dollar deposit within 48 hours of the close of this auction. This deposit should come through paypal. The final payment should be in the form of a bank wire directly to my bank. Upon the ok to release this car from my bank, I will be glad to help facilitate the delivery of this car to the new owner. If you would like specific parts of the car re photographed please let me know and I will try to accommodate. Some of the gold pictures are too gold as they were taken under florescent lighting. The exterior pictures are the tru shade of gold. Feel free to ask any and all questions and I will do my best to answer them. I reserve the right to stop the auction at anytime as this car is being advertised locally. Thanks for your interest. |

Toyota urges owners of old Corolla, Matrix and RAV4 models to park them until airbags are replaced
Mon, Jan 29 2024DETROIT — Toyota and General Motors are telling the owners of about 61,000 older Corolla, RAV4, Matrix/ Pontiac Vibe models to stop driving them because their Takata airbag inflators are at risk of exploding and hurling shrapnel. The urgent warning Monday covers: Certain Corolla compact cars and Matrix hatchbacks from the 2003 and 2004 model years. RAV4 small SUVs from 2004 and 2005. Also covered are about 11,000 Pontiac Vibes from 2003 and 2004, which are essentially the same as the Matrix and were made at the same California factory. Most of the vehicles are in the U.S. “If the airbag deploys, a part inside is more likely to explode and shoot sharp metal fragments, which could cause serious injury or death to the driver or passengers,” Toyota said in a statement. Owners can go to nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter their 17-digit vehicle identification number to see if their cars are affected. If you're not the original owner of the vehicle, the manufacturer's recall letter might not reach you, so be sure to do the VIN check. The recalled RAV4s have Takata driver's airbags while the Corolla and Matrix models have them on the passenger side. The Corolla and Matrix also are under a separate recall because their airbags can be deployed without a crash, the company said. Both companies said owners should contact a local dealer instead of driving the cars in for repairs. Dealers will provide options such as mobile repair, towing the car to a dealer, or vehicle pickup and delivery. Takata used volatile ammonium nitrate to create a small explosion to inflate airbags in a crash. But the chemical propellant can deteriorate over time when exposed to high temperatures and humidity. It can explode with too much force, blowing apart a metal canister and spewing shrapnel. At least 26 people have been killed in the U.S. by Takata inflators since May 2009, and at least 30 have died worldwide including people in Malaysia and Australia. In addition, about 400 people have been injured. The exploding airbags sent Takata of Japan into bankruptcy. The potential for a dangerous malfunction led to the largest series of auto recalls in U.S. history. About 100 million inflators were recalled worldwide. Recalls Pontiac Toyota Takata airbag recall
GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases
Wed, Nov 20 2019NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case. The case is In re: Motors Liquidation Co, 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 18-1940. Government/Legal Chevrolet Pontiac Saturn Safety gm ignition switch
Florida man runs down bikers in traffic
Tue, May 31 2016A Florida biker and his passenger got a nasty surprise when a road rage incident turned ugly on Monday. According to WTSP, Joe Calderazzo was returning from a Veterans Memorial Day motorcycle rally around 5:30 pm with a group of fellow riders. During their ride, the group got entangled with an overly aggressive driver in a Pontiac. Abe Garcia of Tampa watched the silver Pontiac attempt to run the pack of bikers off the road, which started the altercation. The bikers caught up to the Pontiac in stopped traffic, and a shouting match ensued between the bikers and the Pontiac driver. At this point, Garcia pulled out his phone and started recording. The exchange escalated, and suddenly the Pontiac driver floored it, turned hard to the right, and ran over Calderazzo's Harley. The Pontiac mangled the Harley and knocked Calderazzo and his passenger to the ground. The Pontiac then fled the scene. WTSP spoke to Calderazzo as he was on his way to the hospital. "I thought the guy was trying to kill us obviously," said Calderazzo. "You know you don't know what's going through your mind. Is he going to put the car in reverse? Is he going to turn around? Is he going to stop and pull out a gun? You don't know what's going on." The Pontiac driver, a serial traffic offender named Robert Paul Vance, was picked up by police soon after the incident. He is charged with hit-and-run, a moving traffic violation, and aggravated battery.
